i guess some kids are just born with tragedy in their blood

ELENA and Echo made there way to Damon and Rose. Damon was looking at the wolf bite Rose had. It was so disgusting looking.

"Definitely better. Right, Echo, Elena?"

The two nodded simultaneously. "Yes, much better," Echo lied. In fact it was much worse. Much, much worse.

"Uh, it's not bad," Elena said when Rose looked at her.

"Where's Stefan?" Damon asked, looking up at the twins.

"He left. I need you to talk to him. He's convinced that he has to find Isobel but Echo thinks it's going to upset Elijah."

"No, can do. Sorry Echo, I'm with Stefan on this one. But if you two could play nurse for a little while..."

Echo looked at Rose. She really didn't want to babysit a sick vampire, she had other things on her plate, but one look at Damon's face made her cave in. But, before she could say anything, Rose said, "It's not necessary

"It is necessary," Damon stared a little roughly. "Elena and Echo are do-gooders. It's in their nature, they can't resist."

Damon left the room, and Echo ran after him, grabbing his hand, making him face her. "She's dying, isn't she?"

"Probably." He nodded, sighing. "The wolf bite caused some kind of infection and it's getting worse." He saw her face and said, "Death happens. We come, we go. Sooner she dies the better. It's gloomy as hell in here."

Echo scoffed at his words and watched as he left the house.

"I hate this. I'm a vampire, I've haven't had a cold in five centuries," Rose was telling Echo as she was tucking her in bed.

Rose laid her head on Damon's pillow, and Echo sat on the bed, and crossed her legs to talk to Rose. "We don't get sick. When we die, it's fast and sudden and it's certainly not drawn in illness," Rose continued.

"Hey, you're not gonna die. You hear me?" Echo said and Rose looked at her. "I won't let you."

"What happened to you hating me?"

Echo sighed and looked away from her. "I didn't hate you. I was... angry. A lot has been on my mind, and getting kidnapped didn't help any." She then looked Rose in the eyes. "And... I put myself in your shoes. It must've been awful running for 500 years, not being able to live your life even though you have eternity. It must've been exhausting."

"It was. Very exhausting."

Echo smiled and touched Rose's hand which was freezing cold. "I could never hate you."

"I wish we have more time to be friends," she said and continued after seeing Echo's face. "A werewolf bite is fatal to vampires, Echo. I don't know how much longer I have." She paused before asking, "Can I ask you something?"

Echo nodded and grabbed the blood that was on the nightstand. "Go ahead.

"Why are you so eager to give up?"

Echo shook her head. "I don't know what you're talking about. I'm not giving up on anything." She gave the blood to Rose.

"What do you call this deal with Elijah?"

"I call it my best option," Echo retorted. She's used to the bloody way out of things, this was easier and would have less casualties.

"It's the easiest option."

"That's not fair."

"Do you really think that you're witch friend destroyed the moonstone?"

Echo scoffed. "If you're talking about Bonnie, then no. That bitch has screwed me over too many times."

"You really Are determined to die, aren't you?" Rose asked with a cough. "At least I ran, you're not even trying." She then closed her eyes. "I'm so tired."

Echo sat up from the bed just as Elena came into the room then. "How is she?"

"She's tired and cold — not doing well." Echo placed the back of her hand on Rose's forehead. She had the cold sweats which wasn't a good sign.

She started talking in her sleep, something about some horses and a field of roses.

Echo furrowed her eyebrows as Elena joined her side.

"No, Stop, wait. Tell them to prepare the horses," Rose said in her sleep, groaning.

"It's okay Rose," Elena said, stepping closer to the sick vampire, "Just get some sleep. You'll feel better when you wake up."

""Trevor, don't be so stupid. You're never going to make it there before the sun." And just like that, Rose started yelling in pain, and she looked much worse. "Echo. Elena. I need more blood."

"Yeah, of course, here." Elena handed her the glass of blood on the nightstand, and Rose drank it all. Giving the cup back to Elena, blood poured out of her mouth and all over the bed.

Echo gasped and ran over to help somehow. "It's okay, everything's gonna be alright." She and Elena patted her back, hoping to soothe her somehow.

"I'm gonna go get towels and new sheets," Elena said, rushing out of the room.

Echo nodded and comforted Rose as best as she could seeing as she was never really good in these sort of moments. "Hey, it's okay, Rose," she said. "I'm going to go grab some water." She then walked into Damon's gorgeous bathroom, and filled a bowl up with some water, and grabbed a rag.

She then walked back into Damon's room to find Rose nowhere to be found. "Rose? Where'd you—"

She was forcefully pushed against the Salvatore's wall and her back slammed hard against it. "Rose!"

"Everything's your fault, Katerina. You Katerina, You did this!" Rose shouted in her face, gripping Echo's neck harshly.

"Rose, it's me Echo, your friend!" Rose's grip on her neck tightened, making it harder for her to breath. She would've tried to fight back, but Rose was so much older and more experienced than Damon and Stefan.

"You betrayed us!"

"I'm not Katherine! Please, you know how much I hate her!" Echo winced when Rose slammed her back against the wall, and Elena walked in the room. "Elena stay out!"

"Rose, stop!" Elena yelled, throwing the sheets on the bed.

"I'm not Katherine!" Echo screamed, and Rose finally came to realization and knew it wasn't her.

"Echo?" Rose stepped back, scared.

Echo collapsed against the wall, panting for air as Elena ran towards her.

"Echo..." Rose whimpered, blood stained on her face from throwing up earlier. "Oh my god! I'm so sorry. I don't know what's happening to me. I'm so sorry."

"It's okay, I'm fine," Echo stated, feeling bad for her. "You're going to be okay."

"My mind, I..."

"It was just for a second."

"I'm sorry, don't be scared of me."

"I'm not," Echo stated firmly. "I'm not but you need to rest. Elena." Echo gestured for Elena to help her with Rose for bed. She laid down and Elena kissed her forehead.

"I'm scared," Rose whimpered, tears falling from her eyes.

A"You're not alone. Echo and I are right here," Elena said softly, tears shining in her brown eyes as she looked down at the sick vampire.

"Here, where's here?"

"Damon's bedroom, you're in Damon's bedroom."

"I want to go home," Rose cried.

"Tell us about it," Echo said softly.

Rose started to smile as she thought back to her home. "St. Austell, 30 kilometres of the south of London. With fields and trees and horses."

Elena looked over at Echo and smiled. "Sounds beautiful."

"When you live long enough, everything disappears. So much time wasted, I just wish I wouldn't have been so afraid."

"ELENA and I brought you some tea—"

When the girls walked back into Damon's bedroom, Rose was nowhere in sight, once again.

"Where the hell is she?" Echo hissed, teeth clenching.

"Come on, leave the tea here and let's go find her."

The girls made their way to the library, still no sign of Rose, and they sighed, their hearts clenching.

"I'm gonna call Damon," Echo said with a sigh. "Nobody how trained I am, she's delusional and ready to kill anyone who resembles Katherine. We need his help." She dialed his number, but obviously, when they were in trouble, no answer. "Fuck Damon, answer your phone. Elena and I are worried about Rose. I think you should come home. Hurry up and get your ass over here."

Ending the call, the girls headed down in the basement where they heard a noise.

When they entered, Rose was on the ground drinking blood bags from Damon's stash. Empty blood bags laid around Rose, and her face was full of it.

"Katerina," Rose hissed upon seeing them, and she rose with a snarl on her face.

"No, it's me, Echo. And Elena."

"Run!" Elena yelled, grabbing her hand, and they started sprinting away from her.

"Rose, Stop, Stop, it's Elena. She's not Katherine," Echo shouted when Rose grabbed Elena and had her fangs out.

Rose stopped, and Echo looked around the room for a weapon.

"You're hallucinating. I'm not Katherine. It's Elena." Rose caught her by the throat and Echo ran to the curtains to open it.

The sunlight burned her skin, and Echo took Elena's hand. They ran to the front door but Rose pulled Echo back and tried to bite her.

"Stop!" Echo screamed, her eyes searching for a weapon. When she found none, she jabbed her thumb in Rose's wound, making the vampire scream and fall to the floor in pain.

The girls ran to Stefan's room and locked the door. They started to push furniture against the door, anything they could find to hold it shut.

Echo broke a chair leg from one of Stefan's and held it in her hands. She's knew Rose was sick, but she wasn't going to allow down rogue vampire to just roam the streets. Thank god it was day time or else they'd be screwed.

Elena ran to the window to open the curtains so the sun would shine through.

"Echo? Elena? I know you're not Katerina. Echo, Elena please, I need your help." She was desperate.

The girls sat next to the window and leaned their back against the wall, hoping her voice would soon go away.

"I think we should go down now," Elena said, sitting up.

Elena stood with her. "I don't think that's a good idea."

"We haven't heard anything for hours."

The girls moved the furniture out of the way and Echo went first with the stake.

They ended up at the front door which was wide open.

Echo turned around and gasped when she saw Damon. "Jesus Damon!" she said, placing a hand on her heart.

"Are you okay?" Damon asked Echo, immediately seeing the bruise that was on her neck from Rose grabbing her. He stepped closer to her and slowly placed his hand on her neck, making her shiver.

"I'm fine," she stated, stepping back from the vampire. "Damon... Rose is gone. She attacked us and we don't know how long she's been gone."

DAMON and the girls had found Rose attacking a guy, who was now dead.

And now they were back in Damon's bedroom safe and sound. Elena was downstairs while Echo wanted to say goodbye to Roses

"I'm sorry, Echo. I don't like taking human lives, I never have."

Damon looked at her. "You shouldn't be here, Echo.

"Well, I am so you can shut up," she told him, sitting down on the bed, taking Rose's hand in hers.

"It's the worst part about it; the hunt, the need to kill, the thirst, the pleasure it brings you afterwards. I wasn't meant to be evil." She then whimpered and groaned. "It hurts."

"Stop talking about it," Damon said upon seeing Echo's frown.

Rose stilled for a second before giving a small, pained smile to Echo. "Damon's a lot like me. He wants to care but when he does he runs away from it. I'm sorry for what I've done today."

"I know," Echo said and nodded, tears in her eyes. "And you need to fight. I know you're scared but you have to do it anyway."

Rose coughed and Echo tightened her hold on her hand. "Why are you so nice to me?" Rose whispered, her eyes meeting hers.

"Us humans."

"You can't never forget it, what it's like to be human," Rose said, tears stinging her eyes. "It haunts me. It's the only thing that keeps me going. It doesn't hurt much anymore." She let go of Echo's hand and started screaming.

Echo's eyes widened. "Damon, What do we do?!" The brunette yelled, scared.

"Get out." Damon said.

"No, I can't—"

"Get out!" Damon shouted, turning to her with anger filled eyes, and his veins showing.

"No!" Echo shouted back at him, taking both his and Rose's hands. "I'm not leaving you. I'm not leaving you to take this burden all on yourself. I'm staying with you. Always."

And she did until Rose took her last breath when Damon staked her.
