you are magic. don't ever apologize for the fire in you

ECHO was sitting on her bed. The Bennett witch brought the moonstone over, and the Gilbert was holding the stone in her hands, twirling it around.

Bonnie had left the room moments ago, and now she was left alone with millions of thoughts running around her head. All her problems was because of this one little stone.

She stood up and headed down the stairs before opening the front door, only to feel an invisible barrier, stopping her from going outside. She closed her eyes harshly and breathed deeply through her nose. "What did you do?"

"It's for the best," Bonnie said, walking towards her, Elena and Jeremy behind her. "Between you and Elena... we had to think of something to do."

She started banging on the barrier. "Son of a bitch!" She shouted in rage, and tried to kick it. "Son of a bitch! Are you fucking serious? Fuck this! Let me out of here, god dammit! Jesus fucking Christ!"

Bonnie just simply smirked at the angry Gilbert.

"FUCK this shit, I can't believe I'm on house arrest." Echo was flipping through the channels on the tv. She absolutely hated Bonnie more than she had before. She hated everyone at the moment, and she couldn't do anything about it because she was stuck inside all day.

Hearing footsteps coming her way, Damon entered the living room and she only glared. "You should really lock your door," Damon said.

"Shut the fuck up, Damon," Echo spat, glaring at him.

"Oh, come on pouty. Just give me two points for ingenuity."

"How 'bout I'll give you two middle fingers instead?!" She snapped, clenching her fists and jaw. "This isn't funny, Damon. Do you think it is?"

"Yes, Echo. I find hilarity in the links that I have to go to repeatedly save your life," Damon said, sighing at the sight of the angry girl. She cared for her and he hated that she wanted to sacrifice herself.

"You're annoying," she spat at him.

"So are you," he retorted lightly before holding out a bag and a to-go cup. "I brought you something to please the Goddess," he joked and smiled when he saw her lips twitch up slightly.

"This doesn't mean so forgive you for snapping my neck," she told him, taking the bag and drink.

"I know," he said, rubbing his neck.

Once she had woken up after he snapped her neck, she continued to snap his neck over and over again until she was too tired that she fell asleep. He had counted how many times she did it — twenty. She snapped his neck twenty times for payback and put itching powered in all of his underwear, so he had to go buy new ones.

"What did Stefan say about Elijah still being alive?" She asked him as he sat down beside her.

"Yeah, that... I didn't tell him."

Her eyes widened. "Are you serious? Why not?"

"Well a) he can't do anything about it, and b)... what I just said." He smirked at her as she chuckled under her breathe

"Where is Bonnie?" Damon asked Jeremy as he walked in.

"Great, join the party, Jer," Echo retorted, rolling her eyes while stuffing her mouth full of fries that Damon had brought her.

"I thought she was meeting you," Jeremy said, raising an eyebrow at Damon.

"No, she's on moonstone duty and I'm on Echo patrol."

Echo stuck her middle finger at him, but he only smirked. "Bitch," she muttered, taking s gulp of her coffee.

"And who's on Tyler Lockwood and the full moon duty?"

"Vampire Barbie asked me if she can handle this and I said why not? Because if she screwed up he'll bite her and it'll be out of my problems," Damon retorted which made Echo slap him up against the head so hard he fell off the couch.

"Such a dick," Echo said, shaking her head. "Hold on a second. Tonight is a full moon?"

Damon's phone rang. "Yeah, but you were too absorbed with your suicidal tendencies to know so." He walked away to answer the phone as Jeremy walked over to Echo. "Change of plan, you babysit." Damon said, walking over to them.

"I'm not a baby!" Echo snapped, glaring at Damon as Jeremy laid his head on his sister's legs.

"Hey you know, you should get out, enjoy some sun. Oh wait, you can't," Damon said, smirking at his girl as her face twisted in anger.

She narrowed her eyes and forcefully chucked a pillow at Damon who dodged it. Jeremy started laughing, and she pushed him onto the floor and sat with her legs and arms crossed.

She felt like she was locked in a prison.

"WHAT are you doing?" Echo asked as she finished walking down the stairs, noting that Jenna was leaning down, looking through the coat closet.

Jenna looked up at the younger Gilbert twin, saying, "Oh. Perfect timing."

Echo took the box that Jenna handed her, and asked, "What is this stuff?"

"Your Mom's files from the historical society," Jenna explained.

Echo smiled. "Did you get roped into helping Mrs. Lockwood?"

Jenna sighed and nodded before pausing and saying, "No, I am very excited to participate."

Jenna stood as Echo looked confused before Jenna shut the door to the closet, making the twin jump as Elijah stood behind the door.

"Son of a bitch!" Echo exclaimed, her eyes wide in surprise. She hadn't seen Elijah since Damon impaled him, but, she knew he was alive because Damon told her after she had stopped snapping his neck.

He chuckled and said, "I'm sorry to have scared you. I'm Elijah."

Jenna took the box from Echo, saying, "Elijah's in town doing research on Mystic Falls."

Elijah walked towards Echo. "It's a pleasure."  Elijah held out a hand and Echo slowly shook his hand.

"You know, you're welcome to stay here and rummage through this stuff, or Echo and I could help you load it into your car," Jenna suggested as she stood behind Echo, meaning she couldn't see the wide-eyed expression on her nieces face.

Elijah simply said, "Yeah, or I could get someone to pick it up tomorrow."

"Also a good plan," Jenna said with a nod.

"Thank you so much for inviting me into your home, Jenna," Elijah said, shaking the woman's hand before heading towards the door. He stopped though, and turned towards Echo, saying, "It was nice to meet you. Hopefully it is not for the last time."

When he left, Echo rushed up the stairs, and had just made it into Elena's room when Elijah appeared in front of the twins. He closed Elena's door, and turned to face them.

"Why are you here, Elijah? What do you want?" Echo got straight to the point.

"I think it's time you both and I had a little chat," he said, looking between the twins.

Elena stood far away as possible from Elijah as she possibly could as he looked at a few photos on the girls nightstand. "Forgive the intrusion. I mean your family no harm."

Echo folded her arms. "Why did you kill those vampires when they tried to take me?"

Elijah turned to face her. "Because I didn't want you to be taken. Klaus is the most feared and hatred of the originals but those who fear him are desperate for his approval. If the word gets out that the doppelgänger exits, and that there's two of them — whether or not you look exactly like Katerina — there'll be a line of vampires eager to take you and your sister to him and I can't have that."

"Isn't that exactly what you're trying to do?" Echo tilted her head.

"Let's just say that my goal is to not break the curse."

"So then what is your goal, Elijah? I still don't understand why you're here," Elena snapped, grabbing her sister's arms, trying to protect her.

"Klaus obsession has made him paranoid. He's a recluse. He trusts only those in his immediate circle."

"Like you?" Echo raised her eyebrow.

"Not anymore." "

"You don't know where he is, do you?" Echo rhetorically asked. "So you're trying to draw him out."

"Well, to do that I need you to stay put and stop trying to get yourself killed. Both of you."

Echo rolled her eyes. "I'm so sick of hearing that. Besides, how do I know if you're telling the truth?"

"If I wasn't being trustful, your family would be dead and I'd be taking you and your sister to Klaus right now. Instead, I'm here and preparing to offer you a deal," he stated, looking between them.

"What kind of deal?" Elena asked.

"Do nothing. Do nothing, live your life, stop fighting and then, when the time is right, you and I should drop Klaus to get out and I would make sure your family and friends remained unharmed."

Echo didn't believe him, but she had to. It's true what he was saying. If he wanted to hurt her and her family, he would've done it by now. "Okay, and then what do you do after that?"

"Then I kill him."

"Just like that?"

"Just like that." Elijah nodded. "I'm a man of my word, Echo. When I make a deal, I keep a deal." "

"How are you gonna be able to keep everyone safe?" Elena asked him.

"I notice you have a friend Bonnie, is it? She seems to possess the gift of magic. I have friends with similar gifts."

"You know other witches?"

"Together we can protect you and everybody that matters to you. So, do we have a deal?"

"I need you to do one more thing for me," Elena stated just then, stepping forward.

"You're negotiating now?" Elijah smiled a little.

"I guess you could say that."

LATER that night, Damon came into her room, and sat down on her bed beside her, giving her a look.

She frowned up at him, but laid down beside him, and he grinned, placing his arms behind his head, and fell asleep.

Even though Echo was confused on why he was there, she smiled, rolled over, and fell asleep.
