in a sense, i am the one that ruined me. i did it myself
ECHO groaned as woke up, her head pounding harshly.
Elena quickly grabbed her sister and helped her sit up. "Are you okay?" She asked, looking her twin up and down. "You died again..."
Echo stared at her. "No shit, Sherlock." She looked around at their surroundings. "Where are we?"
Suddenly, a brunette with short hair walked into the room, and she barely glanced at them. "Good, you're awake too."
Echo stood up quickly, pushing her sister behind her as she glared at the woman. "Who are you and what do you want?"
The woman raised an eyebrow. "I want to know why a human is alive after having their neck snapped," she said as she analyzed Echo.
Echo pursed her lips. "You're not getting an answer."
"I'll just have to torture it out of you, then," the woman said before allowing her vampire face to show.
"You're not getting an answer because I don't know," Echo retorted, scuffing. "Anyway, that doesn't matter, not right now. What do you want with us?"
Rose then turned to Elena. "You look just like her."
Echo groaned. "Of course it has to be about her." She shook her head and said, "She's not katherine, she's Elena Gilbert."
Elena sighed, grabbing her sisters hand. "You don't have to do this."
"I know who you are," the woman stated. "Be quiet."
"HOW are the girls?" Echo heard the woman ask someone.
A guys voice said, "They're just sitting there. Silent. The younger one, the one with the temper, looks like she's about to explode."
Echo gave a look to Elena, and stood up, and the older twin followed her, trying to stay quiet.
The man asked, "So, you called him?"
"No, I called one of his contacts," The woman informed.
"Did you or did you not get the message to Elijah?" The man asked more urgently.
Both Elena and Echo were confused on who they were talking about. Who's Elijah and why is he important?
"They say he got it," The woman stated.
"Wonderful. And what?"
"So, that's it, Trevor," The woman snapped. "He either got it or he didn't."
Echo and Elena walked slowly down the hallway as Trevor spoke up, "Look, it's not too late. We can leave her here. We don't have to go through with this."
"I'm sick of running," The woman snapped just as the twins quietly stepped into the room.
Trevor sighed. ""Yeah, well, running keeps us from dying."
"Elijah is old school. If he accepts our deal, we're free," The woman said.
Elena then stepped on a creaky board, and Echo groaned as the woman immediately turned to face them. "You two!" She walked towards them, "There's nothing around here for miles. If you think you're getting out of this house, you're tragically wrong. You understand?"
"Who is Elijah?" Echo asked, her eyes narrowed.
"No one you know," Rose stated, and then turned and walked away, leaving the twins no choice but to follow her.
"Why are we here?" Elena asked, trying to pull her younger sister behind her, but Echo wouldn't allow it.
Rose turned on a light. "You keep asking me these questions like I'm going to answer them."
"I would really appreciate answers," Echo snapped. "I mean, Trevor did snap my neck, and you both kidnapped us. The least you could do is answer a few of our questions." She crossed her arms. "What do you want with us?"
"I personally want nothing," The woman said as she used a painting to cover up the sunlight in a window, "I'm just a delivery service."
"Delivery to who? Elijah?" Elena asked, confused.
The woman laughed and said, "Two points to the eavesdroppers."
Echo snorted. "We didn't even have to listen in, you were loud enough as is."
"Who is he? Is he a vampire?"
"He's one of the Originals," Rose stated and continued after seeing their faces, "Trevor and I have been running for five hundred years. We're tired. We want it over. We're using you two to negotiate ourselves out of an old mess."
"Why us?" Elena asked, confused.
"Because you're Petrova doppelgangers," The woman stated. "Though, he might not want nothing with your sister." She rose an eyebrow at Echo who crossed her arms. "You don't look much like Katherine. You look similar... but it's not enough." She then turned to Elena. "You're the key to breaking the curse.
"Wait, the Sun and the Moon curse?" Echo questioned, tilting her head. "What do you mean Elena is the key? Isn't the Moonstone what breaks the curse?"
"No, the Moonstone is what binds the curse," The woman explained, "Sacrifice is what breaks it."
Echo's eyes widened as she and Elena asked, "Sacrifice?"
"The blood of the doppelganger," The woman stated. "You two are both doppelgangers. Which means, in order to break the curse, one of you has to die."
Echo scowled and shook her head. "Nope. Not gonna happen. I've already died enough, it doesn't have to happen again."
Elena steppes forward as Trevor walked into the room. "Tell us more."
"Captivity has made them pushy, eh?" Trevor asked. "What do you want two want to know, doppelicious?" He used another painting to cover up the sunlight.
Elena asked, "Who are you running from?"
"The Originals," Trevor answered.
Elena nodded and said, "Yeah, she said that. What does that mean?"
Trevor sighed and said, "The first family — the old world — Rose and I pissed 'em off." Rose cleared her throat, and he said, "Correction- I pissed them off. Rose had my back. And for over half a millennium, they've wanted us dead."
Echo furrowed her eyebrows. "What did you do?"
"He made the same mistake that countless others did," Rose explained, "He trusted Katerina Petrova."
"Wait, Katherine?" The twins asked in sync.
Rose nodded. "The one and only — the first Petrova doppelganger."
"I helped her escape her fate," Trevor explained. "And now I've — sorry, we've — been marked ever since."
"Which is why we're not gonna make the same mistake again," Rose stated before she and Trevor walked out of the room.
Echo sighed and sat back on the couch, and felt a piece of paper crumble under her butt. She reached for it and quickly opened it. It read; Stefan and Damon are coming for you two. -B.
The twins smiles and they sat together on the couch before an hour or later, Rose walked into the room, walking around and picking up things.
A minute later, Trevor ran in, exclaiming, "He's here! This was a mistake."
"No, I told you I would get us out of this," Rose told him, "You have to trust me."
"No! He wants me dead, Rose!" Trevor yelled, his voice cracking.
Rose shook her head and glanced at the twins. "And he wants them more."
"I can't do this," Trevor said, shaking his head. "You give them to him, he'll have mercy on you. But I need to get out of here."
Rose grabbed his hands. "Hey, what are we?"
Trevor took a few deep breaths before saying, "We're family. Forever."
There was suddenly loud knocking on the door, and Rose said, "Stay here with them and don't make a sound." She then walked out of the room.
A few moments later, a man stood at the top of the staircase in a suit, his longish hair parted slightly in the front.
Echo was quick to jump in front of Elena, and push her sister behind her in a protective manner. Elena clung to her sister's arm, knowing that if goings got tough, she was going to push Echo out of the way of danger.
Elijah stared at the twins for a second before instantly appearing in front of them, making Elena jump. Echo hardened her glare and clenched her jaw as she stared the slightly attractive man in the face. He smiled lightly and bent down, smelling her neck, getting a whiff of Elena along the way.
"You're both human," Elijah said, narrowing his eyes. "It's impossible," He looked down at Echo with a smile, "Hello there. You don't look like her..." he trailed off, pulling away from them. "One last piece of business. Then we're done." He turned around to look at Trevor.
"I've waited so long for this day, Elijah," Trevor said as the man in the suit walked towards him, "I'm truly, very sorry."
"Oh, no, your apology's not necessary," Elijah stated.
Trevor shook his head. "Yes. Yes, it is. You trusted me with Katerina... and I failed you."
Elijah walked around him like he was prey. "Oh, yes, you are the guilty one," he said with a nod. "And Rose aided you because she was loyal to you. That, I honor." He stopped in front of Trevor. "Where was your loyalty?"
"I beg your forgiveness," Trevor said.
Elijah smiled. "So granted."
Trevor looked relieved but, almost instantly, Elijah knocked Trevor's head off. Elena exclaimed and covered her mouth as Echo watched with wide eyes while Rose screamed out in anguish, a sob escaping her.
"You—"
Elijah cut Rose off, "Don't, Rose. Now that you are free." Elijah wiped off his hand with his handkerchief before holding out his hand and saying, "Come."
"What about the Moonstone?" Elena asked quickly.
Echo groaned. "Shut up."
"What do you know about the Moonstone?" Elijah asked, narrowing his eyes.
Echo quickly spoke up, "we're not telling you about it."
"Of course not," Elijah said with a smile. He looked her in the eyes. "Tell me where it is."
"It doesn't work that way." Echo smirked up at him, keeping Elena behind her.
Elijah narrowed his eyes at her. "Are you negotiating with me?"The brunette shrugged.
"It's the first I heard of it," Rose stated when Elijah looked at her.
Elijah zoomed over to Elena and she gasped at his sudden presence. "You know where the moonstone is. I need you to tell me." He tried compelling her, but failed miserably.
"Hey!" Echo shouted and went to run towards him, but was held back by Rose.
Elijah hummed and looked down at Elena's necklace, and ripped it off her neck throwing the heart locket to the floor. He lifted her chin to compel her. "Tell me where the moonstone is."
Her pupils dilated. "In the tomb, underneath the church ruins." She answered in a monotone voice.
"What is it doing there?"
"It's with Katherine."
"Interesting..." Elijah finished, and suddenly a noise sounded in the room upstairs. "What was that?"
Echo tried to hide her smirk, but failed. It was Stefan and Damon.
"Up here," Echo heard Stefan's voice say.
Elijah ran up the stairs, leaving the girls by themselves when Damon's voice said, "Down here."
Suddenly, a stake was launched through Elijah's hand, and he only looked annoyed as he pulled it out before turning around only to see Echo, Elena, and Rose gone.
Echo had her back up against a wall as Damon had a hand over her and Rose's mouths, and she smiled up at him seeing as he was leaning over her.
"Excuse me!" Elijah yelled. "To whom it may concern, you're making a grave mistake if you think that you can beat me. You can't. Do you hear that? I repeat, you cannot beat me. So I want the girls on the count of three or heads will roll. Do we understand each other?"
"I'll come with you just please don't hurt my friends," Elena said, walking out. "They just wanted to help us out."
Elijah turned around and ran up the steps, scaring Elena as he asked, "What game are you playing with me?"
Elena then pulled the pin on a vervain grenade and tossed it at Elijah, and it exploded, making him yell out in pain as he covered his face.
Behind him, Echo grinned, holding up her crossbow which Damon had brought for her. "Hey, buddy-boy, down here!" She whistled and then shot him before he had time to grab her.
She had shot him in the stomach three times, once in the hand he had tried to grab her with, and then stepped to the side, allowing Damon to ram a coatrack into his chest, pushing him against the door.
She smirked, lowering her weapon before she looked up at Damon. "Awesome! Never saw that done before. Good job."
Damon grinned. "Why, thank you."
Echo chuckled and walked towards him, pulling him in for a hug. "Thanks for coming to rescue us."
