Prologue
She was the best private investigator out there. She solved many murder cases out and about the country. But this murder case was one that shook her to the core. Someone was framed, someone got away, another was killed.
It seems that history was being regretted, but this was Las Vegas, not Illinois, Iowa.

She was spoiled, forgetful and what many would say "a smart-butt". Kayla was 14 years old. She hated school, yet loved living out in the woods behind her home.
Her mother, Rose, was a very hard working mother. She had plenty of time in the day to clean the house, and all might to work.
Her brother, Caleb, was according Rose, had the same face and stature of their dad, who they never met. He loved working, but remembers very little of his dad, yet shared as much as he could to Kayla about what he remembered.
Kayla thought the family was perfect. That nothing was wrong.
But all that changed too quickly.
Kayla and Caleb were in an argument one evening about Kayla wandering the woods. The more Kayla would say that she loved the woods, the more frustrated Caleb was getting.
Finally, to give up and cool off, Caleb went for a drive in his 2000 Ford Ranger. To Kayla, she was starting to realize that not all families are perfect.
She waited on the sofa. By 10:30 she was asleep. Suddenly, she awoke hearing a noise outside. A dog or a bang. She looked out her house windows looking for anything. All she could see was that the garage door was opened, and the light was turned on.
She went out to see if Caleb was out there, but slowly, something didn't look right. She was only ten feet away from the door when... BONK!

She awoke slowly. Feeling a constant pounding in her head. She felt something bulky and a little heavy. She looked around and noticed she was in the garage. She saw that Caleb's truck was only five feet away from her. She got up to look inside. Her heart started racing, she started to breathe heavy.
All she saw inside the truck was the dead body of Caleb. She could only scream and cry, then she called the police. The police came, looked at the scene, and an investigator came, interviewing Kayla. She answered every question the way she could only answer. The truth.
The investigator looked at the evidence and the scene. He didn't want to, but he knew that he had no choice. He tried to explain in the best way he only could that the law needed someone to be put on trial. She understood.
She put her hands behind her back as the cuffs were wrapped around her wrists.
