She Knows

Yoongi's POV-

"Come in then." I step aside to let him in. He stands by the door a little awkwardly. I study his face for a moment until his eyes meet mine and realization hits me.

"You found an answer."

He nods once, takes off his shoes quickly before walking to the living room, me not too far behind.

"Is Jungkook he- oh, hi."

"Hi, sorry I can go if you two need to talk." He says, about to stand up.

"No, everyone please sit." I take a seat next to Kook and Yeol sits in the armchair across from me.

His leg is bouncing while he rubs his palms along the top of his thighs.

"Is the door locked?" He asks as he tries to peak around the corner, as if he can see from where he is.

"Yes. Now, please just say what you have to say."

"Okay. Well... fuck. Okay, I got a call from Kai and he said that he was talking to Sehun and he said something about Seulgi recommending a realtor to him.

"The realtor is the same one you used so that made me think about the realtor possibly letting it slip that you lived in the building to Seulgi. You know, maybe she's name dropping the idols that live here to attract buyers, I don't know..."

"Anyway, then Kai was told by Jennie that Seulgi does live in this building. Jennie said that Irene and Seulgi have been trying to figure out where you moved to because Irene went to your old place and was told you were no longer there. She didn't know that you moved here, but she fucking does now." He groans as he runs his hand over his face in frustration.

"I was coming up to talk to you and I heard someone ask to hold the elevator so I did, and it was her. She didn't get on with me, thank God, instead she just stood there smiling like a lunatic as the doors closed between us. I mean there's an off chance that she doesn't know I am here for you- who am I kidding. She knows."

Of course she knows. She always knows. She always finds out.

God, I need a glass of whiskey in my hand now. I stand up abruptly from the couch and walk to the kitchen.

As I walk to the cupboard where the glasses are I notice Kook's keys on the counter with a crumpled up piece of paper. It's got a number on it.

"Kook?" I yell out over my shoulder as I pick up the paper.

"Y-yeah?"

"Is this the number from that girl yesterday?"

"Yeah. Why?"

"That girl recognized me," I pull out my phone and go back through my call log to the dates when I was in Daegu, hoping to confirm if this is one of the numbers that called that I didn't recognize that day I left Irene.

Sure enough, it's one of them. It's a match.

My heart drops. Now I'm scared. Irene knows Jungkook is connected to me. That girl saw us. Shit, and we were holding hands when she saw us. Fuck!

"She's one of Irene's friends. What's her name?"

When he doesn't answer I look up from my phone to where he is on the couch.

He looks livid.

Jungkook's POV-

That's why she was asking so many goddamn questions! She did recognize him. She was trying to get information about him from me.

"She does know who you are." I turn to look at Yoongi in the kitchen. "I saw her today."

I went on to tell them about when I first met her by the treadmills, then when I went to box earlier in the day and she was boxing too.

I told them about how she said that she lived here with her "Unnie" which we now know must be Seulgi and that she did recognize Yoongi.

"She was trying to get me to talk about you. I was up there beating the shit out of the punching bag because I needed a distraction, after asking if anything was wrong she asked if something happened between you and I. She immediately brought you up. I thought it was strange and I changed the topic. I didn't tell her anything I swear!"

I knew something seemed off about her today. And this is my first time seeing her since the elevator. Since she saw me with Yoongi.

"Why didn't you tell her anything?" Chanyeol asks.

"What do you mean?" I scoff. "Should I have?"

Then Yoongi speaks up as he walks back into the living room with a glass of what I assume is whiskey. "That's not what he means. You don't talk about me to people. Even your close friends. Why?"

Why does this matter now?

Do they want me to talk about him because I thought the theme of my life since I moved to this place was to not talk or ask about Yoongi.

"I don't know... I didn't tell Tae and Jimin about you because I saw how Chanyeol and Hoseok would avoid my questions about you. I reasoned that they were asked, probably by you, to not talk about or reveal anything about you, so I didn't talk about you either. Or if I did I wouldn't say your name. I would just call you the owner.

"As far as Yeri goes, I had a feeling that she wasn't asking me the things she was simply because she cared about helping to lighten my mood or for me to simply vent to her. I just, had a feeling... I don't know how to explain it."

"Amazing," I hear Yoongi say under his breath before taking a sip from his glass.

He brings the glass away from his lips and asks, "Does the girl know I live here?"

"We rode the elevator down together the day I met her. She saw me get off on this floor because I got off before her. She lives on the same floor as the new place. But since she saw me with you she has probably connected that you and I are up here." I pause as I'm trying to go over everything Yeri and I spoke about earlier.

"And besides that, she was asking if I lived here with you and I said I was just helping you. Then she asked if you lived alone. I didn't confirm or deny that, I just changed the subject."

"Fuck." Chanyeol says as he runs his hand through his hair.

"Did I do something wrong?" I asks as my eyes dart between them.

Did I mess up?

Yoongi puts his hand on my shoulder. "No you didn't do anything wrong Kook. You did everything flawlessly," he smiles reassuringly. "You're instincts are impeccable. You did everything right."

I then see Yoongi move his eyes to meet Chanyeol's. There's something more. Something I just said struck a nerve.

I try to think over what I've said. They reacted after I said Yeri asked if I lived here. It was odd that she asked if Yoongi lived alone. Why would that matter?

"Why would she ask me if you live alone? Why would she need to know that if I had already told her that I didn't live here and was just helping you."

"Amazing." Chanyeol says this time, he and Yoongi both looking at me in awe.

"That was the most important part of what you have said. That's how we know that she is helping Irene. Irene has a habit of finding out if I'm seeing anyone and then..." he throws a quick glance at Chanyeol before looking back at me.

"Investigating them. It's perfect you said you were helping me and not living with me. What's not so ideal is that that girl saw us holding hands. The girl obviously told Irene that, then Irene asked her to get more information about how you and I are affiliated."

"So, what do we do?" I ask looking at Yoongi.

"You might need to lea-" Chanyeol starts as he leans in Yoongi's direction but I cut him off.

"I promised," I turn to him and say sternly, already knowing what he was about to suggest.

"What?" Chanyeol asks.

"I promised him I wouldn't leave," I turn to look at Yoongi. "I'm not going anywhere he isn't going."

I can see Yoongi's eyes start to tear up again while I move myself closer to him as I take his hand.

I then repeat my question. "What do we do?"

Chanyeol nods before answering. "I don't think you should stay here."

Yoongi clears his throat and speaks up. "We should pack some things and find a hotel."

"You can't leave tonight. Ever since the news that Irene might live here broke there have been photographers, reporters and her fans everywhere. You won't be able to leave undetected.

"Plus, the last thing we need is for you two to be photographed together. Whether you have anything going on between you or not, the company would freak out because that is what the media will make this about."

He moves his eyes to me as he continues. "They did the same thing with Yoongi and I years ago. There are still some sites that ship he and I."

"Okay, so why don't we go separately? I have my car. Kook, do you have your license?" Yoongi asks as he runs his thumb across the back of my hand that is still in his.

"Yes I do."

"Okay, what if you take my car and I go with Yeol," He turns away from me to look at Chanyeol, "We've been photographed together before. It wouldn't be a big deal for you and I to be seen together."

"That could work. Jungkook can walk through the gathered photographers and not be noticed, then you and I can leave a few minutes later." Chanyeol nods in thought.

"Or, how about we leave first but you and I will take my car Yeol. Then Kook can take yours because now that I think about it, if this kid gets into a sports car there might be some people who take notice. If you and I get in the car no one would bat an eye. We will already have their attention.

"Also, this way we can take some of the attention off the front doors into our direction. Then he will have an even better chance of not being noticed." Yoongi says before taking another sip of his drink, looking at Chanyeol over the glass.

I've been sat silently chewing my lip listening to their plans. Trying to weigh them against each other. It still isn't quite right.

"I think they both sound good, but my concern is that if they see you both get into a car in general you are likely to be followed. This makes the destination the most important part of any plan we come up with. Irene isn't going to care that we leave, she's only going to care about where we're going."

They both look at me with furrowed brows as they contemplate what I've said.

"Fuck. He's right. They would just follow you Yoongi."

"So we won't go anywhere special. We'll go somewhere expected."

"The company," my eyes widen as I look over at Yoongi.

He smiles at me, signaling that we're on the same page.

"That's perfect!" Chanyeol speaks up. "Okay, go get a few things packed. Pack lightly though."

Chanyeol and Yoongi both stand up, Chanyeol immediately taking his phone out of his pocket while Yoongi leaves to go to his room.

Since Yoongi is gone I turn to Chanyeol to ask my question.

"Are there even places to stay there at the company? As in rooms to sleep in?"

"They have places where the artists and employees can rest if they have busy schedules or have to work long hours. Just pack some clothes and whatever else you might need." He smiles at me. "It'll be okay. You had a great idea."

.......

"Where do we need to go now?" I call out as I slide the strap of my bag over my shoulder.

The plan worked perfectly. The employees downstairs were trying their best to keep the driveway in front of the building clear, but there were so many people.

The valets brought Yoongi's car around for he and Chanyeol where they put their heads down, taking their time getting in the car to give me time to sneak around the crowd.

Yoongi even waved to some people and as he turned towards the door our eyes met briefly as I stepped out of the glass doors, heading over to valet to get Chanyeol's keys.

He had given me the ticket they gave him so there weren't any questions asked. I got the keys quickly to go get the car myself, then we were out of there.

Now we are in the parking structure on our way through security and into the company.

All of this has happened so quickly that we haven't had a lot of time to collect our thoughts. I think the hope is to do that when we get to Yoongi's studio.

As we make our way through the hall and waiting areas to Yoongi's studio, I begin to hear a familiar melody that causes my steps to slow.

I recognize it and at first I don't know where from until I listen a little closer. I'm fairly certain it's the one I heard playing in Yoongi's studio at the apartment. Namjoon's song.

It seems to be coming from a room that Yoongi and Chanyeol have walked past.

I stop when I get to the door and without really thinking  I reach for the handle and push the door open.

It opens to a white room with computer monitors set up on a desk opposite the door where a blue head is barely visible above the back of an office chair. A unique hue of faded blue hair that looks all too familiar.

"Tae?" I raise my voice so he can hear me over the music.

He jumps at my voice, turning around with wide eyes before standing up and running to me.

"Jungkookie! Do you want to hear my song?!"

"Your song?"

"Well, Namjoon wrote it, but he let me sing! Here here, sit down." He says as he pulls me into the room towards the office chair to sit at the desk.

I do as he says and sit in the chair, dropping my bag by my feet. He then leans over me to move the mouse, clicking a few times around the display before a song starts to play.

It's beautiful. Namjoon's voice sounds so good and Tae's voice is very distinct so it's fairly easy to pick it out but I can hear there's another singer, maybe two others, as well.

The harmonizing is lovely between Tae's uniquely toned voice and the person who's singing in a higher register. They sound very good together.

"Namjoon wrote this?" I ask, looking at Tae in awe.

"Yeah! Yoongi helped him with it too. He says he wrote it about a friend he used to have. He said that he tried to talk to him but he didn't know what to say so he wrote this song for him instead."

A friend... he used to have.

This can't be about me. About he and I. There's no way.

"Tae, can you start it over please? And are there some headphones I could use?"

He nods eagerly before handing me a pair of headphones that were set on the desk behind the monitors.

"What is the title?" I ask as he clicks around on the computer again.

"Spring Day." He says as the music starts to play, coming through much more clearly now.
