WHY DO YOU LIKE WRITING?

I don't really know to be honest! I started doing it when I was really young I think, but it was nothing too serious. I was just a quite creative and imaginative kid and writing seemed to get that out there. Then I picked it up and down over the years, subtly changing as a writer every time. I don't do as much now as I'd like to, but I'm slowly getting back into it. It's just a great challenge! 

WHAT DOES IT DO FOR YOU?

I suppose in some way it feels like a release, or an escape. It has been said by many that writing can be very therapeutic. I suppose that's true in a way. It gives me an outlet for any pent- up creativity I have. I don't really draw at the moment so writing is one of the few outlets I have right now. It gives me a chance to practise my writing, language, grammar etc skills. As with every craft/ skill, it has to be practised and exercised to stay at a certain level. 

WHAT KIND OF WRITER ARE YOU?

I think I'm quite a truthful/ confessional writer. I like to write from what I've seen and what I know. In the past, I was very much focused on fiction and the fantasy world I had built for myself, but now I'm much more focused in the here and now, and in what I think is right/ true. I write alot about what bothers me, about myself, and the opinions I've formed. I do a little poetry now and then, but I'm definitely more focused on non- fiction at the moment. 

WHAT DID YOU LEARN FROM THIS 30- PART EXERCISE?

I guess I learned that above all, with a little bit of effort, I can produce some great stuff if I want to. I still have that skill in me. I learned that I am still a creative person, and that I CAN finish things if I really concentrate and get on with it when I can. I learned that you don't have to be a big novelist to be a writer. And that writing regularly is actually a fun thing to do, for the most part, and as long as one is inspired. It's been a really good/ interesting journey for me.
