"Happy birthday to you..."

Everyone present in Suri's mansion sang the birthday song for Meera as she cut the cake. The big cake was a gift from all the maids in their mansion. She loved eating cakes and pastries so much that she could eat them as breakfast, lunch and dinner. They even got her favourite flavour. Not many people were there, only Jaehwan's family, all the maids and the Suris themselves. Meera was dressed in a beautiful white dress and a tiara. She was finally eighteen.

"I'll bring the dishes." Mrs Suri herself served the dishes to the guests and all the maids. She even cooked each and every dish without any help from anybody. She actually left her laptop and KDramas to cook for her daughter. Everyone was seated in the big dining hall. They all laughed and had a good chat. Jaehwan took out a neatly wrapped rectangular shaped box. It was obvious as to what he got since he gave her the same gift every year.

"Open it! Fast!" Jaehwan was more excited than her. He was looking at her hands as she unwrapped the box.

"It's the amusement park!" Meera exclaimed when she looked at the photo frame. Jaehwan always got her photo frames for birthday but with different pictures. This time it had a picture of them going to amusement park and with their happy meal toys and rabbit ears. "It's cute." Jaehwan's mother commented as she leaned forward to look at the picture.

The party soon came to an end. Jaehwan's family wished the girl again before going back home. Mrs Suri was busy cleaning the kitchen and dining. "Mam I'll do it." Bora came with Soyou to help their employer but she refused. "You go and rest. I'll do it. Don't worry. Good night." The maids bowed before leaving.

"Hyolyn." Meera shout whispered her name. The said maid came to her. "I have to go out at 10:30. Are you prepared?" Meera asked her. Hyolyn smiled at her impatience. "Don't worry Meera. I have talked to Bora. We'll cover up. Just enjoy with Daniel." The girl blushed at the name and nodded before going inside. She again took a bath and changed her outfit. It was another white dress with lace and embroidery. Just like her undergarments.

She did a bit of a make up and then checked her phone.

Daniel: at the gates.

Meera picked up her silver clutch and some essential belongings. She checked the kitchen and her Mumma was not there. She sighed and relief and signalled Hyolyn. The maid nodded and gave her a teasing smile. "Wait." Hyolyn stopped her. She took out a small box from her skirt pocket. "Happy birthday." The Birthday girl quickly opened up the box to look at the gift. There were two pieces of pearl like gems. "These earrings are beautiful." Meera exclaimed as her eyes shone in gratitude. "I'm glad you liked it. Soyoo and Dasom made a ruckus to buy these for you." She laughed at the end and then pat her back. "Go. You don't wanna be late now."

Meera sped walked to her boyfriend.  Excitement was the only thing she was feeling. Her hands trembled in anticipation for the night.

Daniel was standing against the wall adjacent to the gates of her house. And as usual, he looked sexy in his white shirt and denims

The streets were dark and dimly lit. Meera closed the main gate behind her and embraced him tightly. "Happy Birthday." Daniel pecked her temples and swirled her around in the air. His face was radiant; he was that happy as his smile never left his face. She playfully hit his chest when she got back on her feet. Daniel laughed lightly and then intervened their fingers. "Let's go." They walked a little away from the locality to the place where he had parked a car.

"Where did you get it from?" Meera asked as Daniel opened the passenger gate for her. It was sort of the car which Bella's dad gave it to her in Twilight series. But the space behind the car was much bigger. "It was lying around in the garage. So I fixed it a bit. It should be enough for tonight." He proudly looked at the car while starting the engine. "I didn't know that you could drive." Meera teased a little. "There are a lot of things that you don't know." He smirked in her direction and winked in the end making her lose her mind. She immediately looked outside to cover her blushed cheeks. Daniel bit back a smile. He was excited too.

Meera opened the small gift box which Hyolyn gave it to her and took out the earrings. She wore them as they matched with her dress. "They're pretty." Daniel commented. "It's a gift from the maids." She then clicked a selfie and send it to her group chat with the maids.

Dasom: They're so pretty!! 😍😍

Bora: you don't have to scream while typing that! 😑😑 btw you look beautiful Meera.

Hyolyn: You wore them? I thought you'll be busy right now😏😏

Soyou:  Ignore them Meera. You look exceptionally beautiful! Go and enjoy your time with your boyfriend❤️

Meera laughed while reading their replies and sent a 'thank you' and 'goodnight'.

Throughout the drive Daniel held her hands admiring her. "Focus there." Meera pushed his cheek for him to face the road. He kept on looking in her direction. Daniel chuckled but still didn't let go of her hand.

Soon they reached their destination. It was forest of some sort. It was oddly quiet except for the loud echoing sounds of crickets. The scenery in front wasn't clear. Only big trees and night sky were visible to Meera. Daniel took out a cloth and asked Meera to turn around. "It's a surprise." She smiled brightly and nodded. She did heard various noises. Different possibilities crossed her mind but she couldn't think much. After more loud noises she heard the door being opened. "Wait." He said.

"Aah!" A sudden yelp escaped the girl's lips when she felt a pair of strong arms around her. She knew it was Daniel but it was so sudden. He picked her up bridal style and walked to the exact location which was just a few steps away. Meera could hear some sizzling sounds and feel warmth around her. Is he setting up a barbecue for me? Daniel gently placed her on the soft mat. He sat next to her and leaned forward to remove the cloth which was wrapped around her eyes. Meera fluttered her eyes open.

"Waah~"

"It isn't that special." Daniel said sadly when Meera exclaimed. But that was the most he could do with the given budget. Sure, it wasn't that big or luxury. And it wasn't barbecue either. Steps away was a small bonfire and in front of them was a little table with two cupcakes on them.  One of them had a candle. While the other had 'happy Birthday' written. Next to them was a small box. She opened it and saw a silver anklet. Meera turned to Daniel who had his head lowered. He wasn't sure if she would like it. But she leaned forward and kissed his cheek. "Daniel it's beautiful. Really." Her eyes sparkled in sincerity which gave him some confidence.

"You remembered that I told you that I've never been to a bonfire and wanted to go to one. You remember my favourite flavours of cupcakes. Even though you're struggling financially, you still managed to get me such a beautiful silver anklet. And I can tell by the looks of it that it isn't fake. Why wouldn't I love this?"

It was true. He used his salary to buy that expensive anklet for her. And it resulted in those loan sharks taking away other leftover home supplies that he was left with. He couldn't stop himself from buying it for her. One day, when he passed by the shop that anklet caught his eye. He imagined his girlfriend wearing it. And he loved it. So he saved up as much as he can and bought it for her.

Daniel had a smile on his face after listening to her. He felt calm and contented. Meera was looking at him with loving eyes. "I love you so so much." She said and kissed his cheek again while he had a stupid smile on his face. "Cut the cupcakes~" he said so that she won't notice his embarrass self.

Meera picked up the knife that was there and blew the candle first. "Happy birthday to you~~" Daniel sang the birthday song in a childlike tone while clapping his hands and moving his torso side to side like a four year old, causing Meera to burst into loud chuckles. She blew and extinguished the little candle. Daniel continued to clap excitedly. Meera removed the candle and picked up the cupcake to feed it to her boyfriend. They both laughed and enjoyed their time. He then helped her in wearing that anklet.

"I knew it." Daniel said with a smile on his face as he traced his fingers on the anklet which was on Meera's ankle. She looked at him with a confused face. "What?"

"That it was made for you." She playfully hit his shoulders and looked away blushing. He pulled her closer as her back hit his chest. "I'm serious." But she was till blushing. He made her sat on his lap with both her legs to his right where the bon fire was. She rested her head on his left shoulder and wrapped an arm around his waist admiring his neck and listening to the flames as it made a burning sizzling sound. Daniel rested her head on top of hers and pulled her closer, embracing her fully. The quiet atmosphere was soothing enough to calm their racing hearts.

Daniel looked to his right to look at the flames. He was waiting for the right moment to begin their special night. Why is it so easy in the movies?! Little did he know that Meera was waiting for that moment too. She wanted to take the initiative but didn't know when. While thinking about it, a sudden thought came over her. It was absurd but she couldn't help it. Not being able to keep it inside she gathered the courage to ask him.

"Daniel?"

"Hmm?" He turned his head to look at her face which was on her shoulder. He raised his hand and stroked her hair. "Umm... did you.. um.." she couldn't say it. She couldn't bring herself to ask him such a stupid question. The answer did not matter to her at all but her curious heart was restless. "Relax and tell me." He said calmly, still stroking her hair.

"Have you... like.. done it before?" Her voice lowered with each and every word she said. The moment the last word left her lips, she felt stupid. Her soul wanted to leave immediately. But before anything could happen, Daniel pulled away a little making her pull away her head too. He cupped her cheeks and looked into her eyes with a soft gaze.

"You will be my first." She blushed at his reply and hid her face in his neck. Daniel chuckled and embraced her tighter. After calming her thumping heart she pulled away to look at his face. Daniel raised his hand and cupped her left cheek. They both looked into each other's eyes.  They knew it was the perfect moment.  It was the right time. The burning of the flame, the sound of the crickets and their heavy breaths gave them the perfect background music.

Meera's lewd gaze and his lustful eyes heated up their warm bodies.

"I love you."

She said before dropping her lips on his lips.
