[27] Loss and Gain

2 days later...

"(Y/n)?" I heard a familiar voice call.

I look up to see Markus. I looked around to see I was in the lab and that my body was gone. My human body was gone.

"Welcome back love." He says taking my hand to help me sit up. But I felt weak.

He kisses me lovingly. "How do you feel?"

"Thirium." I say simply. "I need thirium."

Markus hands me a bottle of blue fluid.
"How?" I asked.

"Drink it like you would water." Markus tells me and I quickly down the blue fluid.

I felt better immediately. "What happened?"

"We hooked her up back to the machines to keep her going and told the nurse to finally pull the plug....it was the hardest thing to do...watch you die...again."

He wrapped his arms around my waist and his his face in the crook of my neck. "I'm here." I tell him again.

"Elijah cried too. When they did it he left the room...I stated by your side...once I left the hospital news reporters we're everywhere and trying to interview Elijah's and I. We ignored them. To the world you are now officially dead and your funeral is tomorrow." Markus tells me.

"Should I attend my own funeral?"

Markus shook his head. "Rafael,Vee, Connor, Leo, Simon and Josh came by to check on us earlier."

"Did you tell them?" I asked.

"Elijah and I decided to tell them after the funeral."

"When are you going to announce that there's a new me?"

"Two months...at most."

"I have to stay in here for two months?"

"No...well yes."

"Nooo." I whine.

"I have to fly back to Washington to get our things tomorrow night. I'll be black as soon as I can I promise." He said caressing my cheeks.

"Fffine." I say sadly.

"OK how about this you stay here for a month and then a week into the second we can go home to Washington DC?" He suggested.

I thought over it before nodding in agreement. "Yea I can deal with that."

"Now you should slee- ...." Markus sighed and gave me a small smile. "I forgot for a moment...you don't need the basic human needs anymore." He chuckled.

"Yea..." I gave him a small smile.

"I'm gonna have a hard time remembering that for a while. I liked taking care of you. I was doing it not because I had to because I wanted to and now I don't need to. It feels...strange." Markus confesses.

"You and I both have some adjusting to do." I say.

"We'll get through it. I know we will." He  said before kissing my forehead.

"What time will the funeral start?"

"You're not going." Markus told me sternly.

"Can I at least attend my own funeral? C'mon I'd basically losing a huge part of me. I'm grieving too." I say pouting.

"The building will be heavily secured there is absolutely no way I could get you even if I wanted to."

"Are you sure about that?" I asked smirking.

"What is that supposed to mean? I'm sure I've secured every door at every side."

"Well Mr.Parkour master you should know better than anyone there is always a way."

He raised an eyebrow at me. "Are you thinking-"

"Yes. There has to be a time where they switch or something."

"Or you can be pretend to be a guard and sneak in." Markus suggested and I smiled.

"I need a suit."

"I'll go out and buy one....the things I'd do for you...it's ridiculous." He muttered smiling. I chuckled and he gave me a kiss before leaving. I sat down on the lab table. Thinking about my human life. If I was honest I thought about being an android more times than I'd like to admit. I felt stronger and more powerful. Strangely enough I feel like this is what I was meant to be. I was always above average as most people would say. I fit no where I never have. But I found comfort in machines. I feel like it was fate. I would miss my old life. Being able to eat and sleep.Breathing was a necessary evil. But I'd already adjusting into my new skin. I feel far more confident in this form. I don't feel weak nor helpless. Everything feels right. I could finally keep up with Markus. I got up and went into the living room to see Elijah on the couch. He locked eyes with me. We don't interact too much and it's understandable as to why. He admitting to this...to me. We all are.

"Forgive me for gawking...it's all very surreal for me still." He apologizes.

I nod. "It's still just as new for me as it is for you." I say before sitting on the couch beside him but distanced myself for his comfort.

We watched the news and I relished in the fact of how fast the world moves on. Just the day before yesterday I was pronounced dead. The next my funeral date was released and today I was never spoken of once on the news.

"What is the square root of pi?" Elijah asked me.

"Elijah you know I don't know the whole thi- 1.77245385091...." I say before turning to him with a smile.

"Not only are you for the most part immortal but you are smarter than me. We are never betting again..." Elijah half joked with a small almost unnoticeable smile.

"Why not?" I said smiling.

"You win a bet 78.5% of the time being an android definitely increased your chances to nearly 100%."

"Well damn...there goes my fun." I joke half heartedly.

"Despite my distance recently I want you to know I am very glass that you are alive. Albeit a different form but you are alive and for that I am very grateful. It's just the how that the the third time in my life scares the hell out of me. The first and second being thinking you were gonna die. Which by some terms you have. But you've alive...just evolved." He said with a small smile.

"I... I never imagined that it never would have worked and at the time of building we were just...pretentious. After releasing a better innovated version of our collection of androids. It has always been our thing to get speedy and innovate further or go above and beyond and sometimes meddle with things beyond our nature and understanding...Afterwards we would get burnt out and realize it may have been a bad idea and that we've created something that no man should get there hands on or should even think of attempting and we'd put the project to rest. But I believe this is one project that you and I- in the moment of creating...me. We had gut feeling that this would have purpose whether it be horrifying or good was up for debate at the time. But we did it for a reason. We've never been big believers in fate. But when you think about RA9  and Project X we put them to rest and they came to benefit us in the long run. It makes me think there is a possibility that we were key players in a bigger calling we had no idea of until now." I ramble as I play with a loose string on the end of my night gown.

"I agree we were doing unbelievable projects back then and we came to terms that we were overstepping boundaries at the time. That we were messing with unfamiliar forces of natures that if man got a hold of it could be used for evil...maybe we have been inadvertently doing the world a favor and ourselves one as well."

I smiled. "We've gotten very far from our rented garage in new mexico."

"With you being the most...tenacious young women out not wanting an ordinary job but set on innovating cyberlife's newest androids." He chuckled.

"Mom always said 'you could have been a lawyer' I could have been." I admitted smiling.

"But you put your Christmas money into that one android that you bought. I couldn't believe you were doing it...most importantly you allured me into doing it with you with only 10,000 dollars to work with."

"But we did it...our parents gave us a fortunate life and we took it and made ourselves a legacy."

"Speaking of a legacy I have something I've been meaning to tell you..."

"Is it about Alice?"

"Yes...she and I had a child..."

"Was it the flower girl!?" I questioned immediately.

"Yes..she's 6 years old. A result of a short-term relationship. I have been seeing her and my daughter very frequently. As frequently as possible. Recently I haven't had the time but to my knowledge they are both still very shaken by what happened."

I tried to wrap my head around two things.
1.) That I'm an aunt
2.) Elijah had a kid.....

"You had a kid?" I said
making sure is got this correct.

"Yes I have a daughter why is that so surprising?"

"I've never imagined you to have a child." I admitted.

"Neither did I but Alice raised our child to be more sophisticated than most."

"So...I'm an aunt...and Markus is an uncle. OK...not the most unexpected thing in the world...OK it is. Are you and Alice in a relationship?" I asked.

"Yes," Elijah confirms.

Just then Markus came back with a suit.
"Can't believe that you persuaded me into letting you come." Markus said handing me the suit and I smile.

"What? I thought we agreed she doesn't come out until two months." Elijah questioned.

"Remember Elijah she's a determined woman...that carried on with her as an android." Markus said with a smile.

I turned to look at Elijah with an over the top smile. Elijah responded with his typical eye roll.

"Do I have to go back into the lab? I am tired of laying in that small cramped space." I exaggerate.

"No...you stay with me in the room." Markus said before picking me up and throwing me over his shoulder. "We have a lot to discuss."

I giggled. "Markus!" I exclaimed as he carried me to the room.

"Please no erotica in my house." Elijah begged.

"We'll plan for the erotica to take place elsewhere." Markus said.

I could practically hear the smirk on his face. "Markus!" I exclaimed.

"Thank you." Elijah said.

Markus took me down the hall into the room and put me down on the bed and began to pepper my neck with soft kisses. Working his way up to my lips where went in for a deeper kiss that lasted longer than the on leading up to it. I moan against his lip and he pulled away to lay beside me.

"Let's plan our wedding again. In four months." He tells me before pecking my lips again.

"But where am I gonna go for the last two months?"

"No where I'll also Connor if I can stay with him."

"....I know where I want to have the wedding." I say smiling.

"My parents' mansion."

"Is it still available?"

I nod in response. "Elijah and I preserved it after our parents died."

"Guest list-" Markus started.

"Will remain the same security will be heightened to the max. North will no be attending of course."

"If I even see her face..."

I climb on top of him and kiss him passionately. He flipped us over so he was on top. I giggled and wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him deeper into the kiss. "Pay attention to me. If you see her pay attention to me. I need your attention more than she does." I joke.

"Right." Markus said smiling before kissing me slow and lovingly. "I love you so much (Y/n)."

"I love you too Markus." He laid his head on my chest and smiled.

"What?"

"Your thirium pump...it beats like your heart..." He before he kissed my chest.

"It does?" I questioned and he nodded then furrowed his eyebrows.

What now?" I said smiling.

"Feel mine." He said sitting up then taking my hand and placing it on his chest.

I hum happily. "I know your thirium pump beats."

"But it beats like yours." He adds on. I furrowed my eyebrows and placed my other hand on my chest. He was right our heartbeats are the same!

"I think I just fell for you all over again." I say smiling.

He pulled me into his lap and kissed me softly. "The longer I stay with you the more reasons I find to fall in love with you." He said nuzzling my neck as he smiled.

I hummed happily and wrapped my arms around his neck and he wrapped his around my waist and pulls me as close as he could. We just stayed like that. Holding each other. Deep down despite my happiness to feel what I'm in a form where I feel I fit in. It is a form very different from what I was born in and it's a scary thing. I'm glad I have Markus to keep me together. We keep each other intact. That's the way it's always been and that's the way it will be.

Forever.

The next day...

"(Y/n)." I heard Markus coo in my ear.

I automatically opened my eyes and look over to him.

"Yes?"

"We have leave in an hour." He said before kissing my cheek.

I get up to go take a shower sure...it wasn't necessary but I've always loved a good shower. It's invigorating, also it's a habit.

I undressed myself and looked at my bare skin in the mirror. I've always felt..comfortable in my own skin. I had day where I had hated myself honestly. But I've never felt this confident. I did a little twirl as I checked myself out in the mirror. I feel and look like a goddess.

"What are you doing?" Markus said.

I look at his reflection in the mirror.
He was leaning against the the door way with his arms crossed and a smirk playing his lips.

"I'm going to take a shower." I say smiling. "Care to join me?" I teased.

Markus gently pushes himself off of the doorway and makes his way over to me.
I smiled at him through the mirror as he ran his hands along the curves of my waist and my hips.

He moaned near my ear and kissed my neck. "If we had time and I wasn't trying so hard to restrain myself for the honeymoon in four months. I  wouldn't mind bending you over this sink to reclaim you and making you sustain multiple earth shattering orgasms one after another." He whispered seductively. "I'm pretty sure it's some thing you'd enjoy as well. But you should shower alone to save time." He said smirking before he smacked my ass then left me gawking. I felt something dripping down my leg. I looked down to realize the source of the wetness was my own arousal.... I feel ashamed.

I take my shower and put on my suit.

"This is so not my style." I complain.

"But somehow you still look amazing in it." Markus said before kissing my cheek.

"Oh please, don't flatter me." I say rolling my eyes. He smiles and gives me a kiss.

Elijah knocks on the door. "They're here." Elijah says through the door.

"We'll be out in a second." Markus said.

"So are you giving a speech?" I asked.

"Of course I am. Everyone expects me to."

"Very true."

"When I leave the funeral I'm going straight to the airport. I'll be back in a couple of hours after." He grabs my waist and pulls me into him to give me a passionate kiss. "Just in case I don't get to you after the funeral." He said smiling.

"I love you." I say quietly.

"I love you too, now let's get going." Markus said opening the door for me.

I go out first and put my on my glasses and stand beside Elijah.

"This is my personal security guard Mia." Elijah says and I nod towards the gang. Whom I just wanted to run up and hug every last one of them. Especially Vee.

"Let's go...I wanna get this over with..." Markus said in the most heartbreaking voice. He was really selling it I was convinced for a second that he had lost me.

We all get in the SUV and get driven to the site of the funeral:

Just seeing how the funeral was planned for me made me want to cry. I tried so hard to keep it together and not break down.

I sat beside Elijah who had to sit in the front. Once the pastor had spoken a few words he invited Markus up to start off.

"(Y/n) was there...she always was...when you needed her most she would make extraneous effort to make sure she's there for you. (Y/n) was everybody's hero...including mine...she was understanding and encouraging. She was just.. The most beautiful woman you could ever meet." He said looking down crying. "She showed me not all humans are evil. She showed me that I was more than a machine without her....I never would have gotten here." He confesses while his voice cracks like my heart. "My apologies... She was and always will be a big part of my life." He said before sitting down beside Elijah.
I was struggling not to get up and comfort him. I wanted to so bad it hurt to see him cry. I couldn't imagine if I were actually dead how he would cope and vice versa.

Elijah then stood up and stood in front of the small group of people.

"One thing we can all agree on is that (Y/n) was a self-made woman. Ambitious, Courageous and sacrificial. She knew what she wanted and she knew what she stood for there wasn't a thing that could stop her from completing her goal, or convince her to stray her path. I was never one for human interaction in fact as a young boy I never interacted with my own family. But when (Y/n) stepped in she brought our little family together. I would never admit this to her aloud but being the smart alleck she was I bet she knew this. (Y/n) was not only my sister but my closest friend...Nobody could ever push my buttons and persuade me to do anything. No one except her. She..was the closest thing that I had to a best friend. The only one I could truly confide in." He said before sitting down right beside me. Don't asked me why...but I felt kind of smug but at the same time I wanted to cry my eyes out.

Up next Connor..

"I wasn't ever that close to (Y/n) but if you ever asked her about me. I was her unrelated son." Connor started and people let out a little laugh.
"The moment we were properly acquainted she was quick to accept me. Despite the fact that it was I who unknowlingly alert the FBI where the deviants were hiding. She understood and forgave me. I never got to properly thank her for that. I hope that wherever she is she is happy and worry free and that she's talking about her son but not son Connor." He said with a small smile and it was only further encouraging tears.

"Shit. Shit. Shit. Connor stop being so pure!!"

Connor suddenly furrowed his eyebrows and I realized I may have sent out a message to android radio. Markus furrowed his eyevrows as well but gave me a slight glance. I looked straight ahead.

"Vee...would you like to speak a couple of good words." Markus said.

Vee came up and I could tell that she was taking this very hard and that she wasn't afraid to let it be known.

"(Y/n) was my mom of course not biologically but she built me with her own two hands and never once did she treat me like I was a slave. Buy always as her equal..she treated and protected me like her own biological daughter..North aimed her gun at me....but (Y/n) protected me like she always did....She jumped in front of the bullet." She said crying and Rafael came up and comforted her. Vee sat down and Rafael stood.

"(Y/n) was a badass...yea...she was a badass chick." He said with a small smirk before sitting down.

I rolled my eyes.

Of course that's all he had to say.

Soon a few more people came up and gave a waterfall enducing speech. Then they lowered my body into the ground.

Goodbye...

Elijah,The gang and I all gathered in the SUV that was driven to Elijah's house once everyone was inside I snuck off and took of the stupid suit and put on Markus's shirt and some sweat pants since I didn't have  clothes.

I walk out into the living room where everyone was gathered.

Elijah stood beside me, gaining everyone's attention. They all stood shocked and most of all speechless.

"You're. not. dead?" Connor questioned.

"Technically...I am...My human form anyway." I say nervously rubbing my arm.

"What?" Vee questioned.

"Allow us to explain.." Elijah started.

Elijah explained from the very beginning while I stood beside him nervously.

"So...(Y/n) is an android?" Rafael questioned.

"You dufus I'm right here...yes...I'm technically an android..." I answered quietly. "We couldn't say anything sooner because...well Markus's plan."

Vee was the first to run and hug me before everyone did the same and I finally got to burst into tears. "You guys don't know how hard it was for me not to cry and go up to hug each and every single one of you." I say through my tears.
