[25] War Path
Markus's Pov:
A week had passed and in that week. (Y/n) had been transported to Detroit in Elijah's house so we have constant supervision over her. She has a Nurse that checks in twice a day.
North had been transported to Detroit station so it was more efficient for Connor to keep up with his cases and monitor North.
In that week...nothing had changed. North refused to speak. (Y/n) hasn't waken up. I am losing my patience and hope very quickly. I attempted many times to go and speak with North myself but each time it had been the same thing.
'(Y/n) wouldn't want that for you.'
'Think about (Y/n).'
I loved her. I loved her so much but every time I heard that I slowly felt further agitated than the last time.
I had gotten her flowers and put them by her bed. I talk to her every morning even if she can't talk back. I hardly work because I look at a page and all I can think about is going to check on her so I do. I was getting fed up of being caught in this vicious cycle. Knowing I could do something. I need to do something. I can't sit here any longer waiting for a change I need to do something.
I have too much anger and sadness built. I've been keeping it all built up for the sake of others but I'm done. I rise out of my spot beside the bed and grab my coat.
"Markus where are you going?"
"I'm done waiting for something to change. I'm going to that police station and confronting North myself."
"Markus you need to think rationally. (Y/n) wouldn't want you to-" Elijah started before I interrupted.
"I am getting very irked with people telling me that when that don't even know her on a personal level." I growled getting in his face.
"I'm not other people Markus. That is my sister. I've known her most my life. So I know her a personal level." Elijah argued not backing down.
"You don't know what she would want for us. You don't know us. You never will. You can't tell me what she would want for me to do because she's not here to defend herself. She's in a coma most likely to never fucking wake up!!!" I yell angrily with tears running down my face. "You think I'm naive? That I don't notice the pity look her nurse gives me and how the two of you speak in private? I hear and see everything Elijah!! I'm going to the station." I say finally.
I am driven to the station and the guards couldn't get me there faster enough. But when they did. I dismiss them despite their insistence on staying with me. They finally leave and I wait at Connor's desk.
It wasn't long before he had finally arrived.
"Markus, what are you doing here?" Connor asked.
"Are you currently dealing with another case or are you still interrogating North?" I asked not answering his question.
"I just got back from the interrogation room."
"Let me see her." I demand.
"Markus-" Connor started.
"Connor..." I started. "Take me to her.." I say trying to remain calm.
Connor takes me into the smaller room with the one way mirror. I look at North through the glass. She looks miserable but yet again untouched.
"She hasn't said anything?" I asked looking at her.
"Besides Fuck off, eat human fecal matter and decommission yourself...no."
"Let me speak to her..." I say.
"Just a forewarning you Markus there are cameras recording they hear what you are saying." Connor says.
"Thank you for the warning." I say before Connor shows me to the interrogation room.
I walked inside and sat in on the other side of North who looked shocked to see me.
"M-Markus?" She questioned.
"North." I reply.
3rd person POV:
North was genuinely surprised that Markus had shown up. She had given up on him coming after she had been transported to Detroit prison.
"What are you doing here?" She asked.
Markus remained calm, calmer than he expected. He had pictured coming in here and ripping her head off. That was his most recent violent thought. He couldn't help but notice he's been getting a lot more reckless and violent lately. But right now he didn't have time to think about his recent behavioral patterns. There was a more pressing matter at hand.
"I know why you did it." Markus state bluntly not moving a muscle.
"Markus-"
"Since the day (Y/n) showed up you despised her. You hated her because of me. You loved me. I knew that and I had let you down with a soft warning the first time but you just weren't satisfied." Markus said squinting at North waiting for her next move.
"I wasn't aiming for her she got in the way." North admitted as tears went down her face.
"Who were you aiming for then? Me?" Markus questioned getting up.
"I was aiming for Vee! I wanted her to feel my pain...what it feels like to have the one thing you love most snatched away from you! (Y/n) got so fucking lucky! She got the job of her dreams! A big house! A family and friends! Most importantly she had you! No matter what I did it was never good enough.." She rambled angrily.
Connor stood stunned at the fact that Markus got more out her in a couple of second then he did in a week. He had said almost all the exact same things as Markus too. Markus was a trigger. He should have figures that out earlier.
"I tried repeatedly to scare her away but she stayed and you defended. No matter I did nothing worked!" North exclaimed frustrated.
Markus had furrowed his eye brows but quickly calculated the scene unfolding before him. How could he not have guessed it?
"It was you sending her death threats? The bomb? The break-in that occurred in Washington was that you too?"
"I didn't send a bomb to her house." North admitted calmly looking away.
"Do you hear yourself?" Markus questioned. "You declare that you despise humans yet here you are acting like one. Do realize how fanatical you look?" Markus questioned cocking his head to the side.
North looked him in the eyes now starting to feel a pain worse than what she had been used to.
"How could I ever fall for you when you are this way. Did you really think that harming her will bring me closer to you? What kind of twisted fantasy do you live in?! How could you think that I could love you after you took away the one human who I love and trust more than anyone in this world since Carl died?" He rambled getting in her face.
"You're sick in the fucking head and If there is a god out there I pray to them that if there is some parallel universe where I am in love with you that he will quickly reconsider changing the universe around because you are a disgrace to our kind and the worse being I've ever met! If (Y/n) was here she would be so kind toward you. But this is left up to me...if she dies....you go with her..." He growled before storming out of the interrogation room leaving a completely shattered North. Connor could sense that Markus had sent North's stress levels into overdrive. She was going to... Self-Destruct. Connor alerted other and they ran in the room to stop her. By time they reached her she had blue blood dripping down her face but they stopped her. She was cuffed and contained.
While Markus was being driven back to Elijah as house alone. He pulled out the wedding band he had placed on (Y/n)'s finger that day before it all went to shit. He fidgeted with it while he pondered his next move very carefully. Risky it was that he certain of. But at this point he saw it as his last hope. Once he arrived at Elijah's place of residence he went to (Y/n)'s room passing Elijah who questioned Markus repeatedly but Markus ignored.
"Markus what happened? What are you doing!?" Elijah question.
Markus kissed (Y/n)'s forehead. "Please forgive me for acting selfishly." He begged her before he began to carefully unhook her from the machines.
"What are you doing!?" Elijah exclaimed as he rushed over to Markus who had (Y/n) in his arms and was heading for the lab.
"Project X." Markus told him simply as he laid (Y/n) on the table.
"That thing is unstable and we have not tested it! There's no guarantee that it will actually work!" Elijah exclaimed following Markus. "Think about this-"
"I've thought about it! Long and hard. I've seen her vitals... She's not gonna make it....not like this at least. You promised that you would try. You promised her that and you owe her that much! Now..you're gonna turn this thing on or I'll figure out how to use it myself." Markus argued.
Elijah hated the fact that he was actually willing to go through with this obscure plan. But Markus was right...this was a last resort...without a word Elijah got to work pulling out a separate operating table on it was project X. He hooked a plethora of wire to (Y/n) and project X and to the machine.
He began to press buttons and get the machine up and running. It began to whir and hum and shake just a bit.
"Give it 3 hours...if nothing changes... We fulfill her second wish..." Elijah said sighing. "We pull the plug."
That was the last term Markus wanted to hear but it was the only option. So he hesitantly nodded.
Set up to believe this would be up to a 3-4 hours process. Markus and Elijah went off to do both separate things. All within close range of (Y/n). Markus was going through some documents barely paying a attention to what he was reading. Just scamming through while he sat in the corner of the room flickering his attention over to (Y/n) or the machine at every beep, click or tick.
Suddenly after just an hour (Y/n) arched her back letting out a blood curdling scream and her body began to shake furiously. Markus shot up and ran to her side. Elijah ran into the room and headed straight for the machine.
"What's happening to her Elijah!?" Markus questioned trying trying to hold (Y/n) as she seized but she was too hard to contain. Then she began to hyperventilate.
Elijah was shocked by the results. "N-no..." He said softly.
"What?!" Markus questioned. "What's happening!?" As he walked over next to Elijah to look at the screen. He was only able to comprehend so much from the screen.
"She's...it...how..." Elijah questioned himself. He watched as her lifeline went flat.
"Noo!" Markus cried out as
"No Markus....it's working.." Elijah said holding Markus back by his shoulder.
They both looked over to Project X who was at first just a blank canvas with a feminine physique modeled after (Y/n) Suddenly (Skin color) pigment "skin" began to spread to each molecule like wild fire hiding the true nature of this new being. Suddenly Project x began to grace (Y/n)'s features. Every single detail to the smallest pore.
Markus could not believe it. It had actually worked. He didn't care to wonder how he was just glad it seemed to be working. New that she was an android...She night need to be converted. Markus wasted not a second and had his hand ready to convert.
"No need." Elijah said grabbing Markus's wrist. "She's programmed like any other android but she can choose not to obey her programming."
"Deviant was built inside her?" Markus questioned.
"No, her soul is what makes her deviant." Elijah explain.
(Y/n) began to recall the last few moments of her life. Remembering her life from the very first moment she could possibly recall to being in a hospital room, unable to speak or breathe to everything going completely white then dark. (Y/n)'s eyes pop open and she's met with another bright light..this one, on the ceiling.
