Chapter 2

REBECCA

I woke up feeling the odd sensation of warmth , I opened my eyes looking down at the tanned arms that were slung loosely around me. My eyes widen and I turn over pushing whoever it was forgetting where me and Calum left off last night.

''Shit are you okay?'' I say looking down at Calum laid on the floor.

''It's okay'' Calum murmured in his sleepy voice, it was slow and raspy , he got up rubbing his eyes and stretching.

''Well i'm going to go wake up the others , i'm hungry'' I tell him a bit embaressed... I met the boy last night and we shared a bed?! God knows what he will think of me I've ruined any chances I ever thought of having... what am I even saying. 

''Okay' Calum said climbing back into my bed.

''Okay , but you might want to get out , if Ashton walks in and sees your still in here you're dead'' I remind him.

''Oh shit!! '' Calum says as he rolls off the bed in panic and falls too the floor for the second time this morning.

''You okay?'' I ask , suppressing my laugh.

''Yeah I just adore this flooring you know... '' he says with a smirk then shoots up running out my door.

''Morning Ash'' I smile spotting him walk out of the bathroom.

''Morning sis , where's Calum?'' he asked

''Downstairs like you told him to be'' I say walking into the bathroom before he can say anymore...

''Look, Rebecca i love you and you know that but i don't want you dating my friends''

''Can I ask why?'' I sigh turning around and leaning against the bathroom door.

''Because...it would be weird and i dont want you breaking each others hearts and make things awkward for me'' he says

''Bu-''

''NO buts!! Promise me you'll not date any of them! and not try anything with them!''

''Ash-''

''Promise me!'' sighing I nod my head slowly , Its been one day he needs to chill out. I'm not one of his crazed fangirls am I? 

''I promise'' I mumble rolling my eyes and shutting the bathroom door.

''Thank you..'' I hear him call before I flick the shower switch on.

My phone vibrates as I get out the shower I wrap myself in a towel and grab my phone from the side , I unlock it with one swipe and open up a text from my friend reminding me I had to take a couple of photos of some models for a new fashion blog segment. I thought coming to Sydney would mean I get a break from work , but no the company I work for has too many connections with everyone. I quickly rushed to get ready I had no idea where the place was so I needed to ask someone for directions.

''Ouch sorry'' I mumble as I directly run into someone.

''Hey , where are you off too in such a rush'' Calum questions , I let go of his arm and stand backwards gaining balance.

''Work''

''Cool , do you want a ride?'' he smiled back.

''No shes fine'' another voice spoke breaking me out of my thoughts , I turned towards Ashton and nodded.

''Bye'' I chirped walking out of the front door and pulling the gps up on my phone.

CALUM

''Calum , back off my sister okay she doesn't like you'' Ashton snaps out of the blue

What the hell is his problem? Does he know that I stayed in her bed last night... shit! He probably just thinks I want to get in her pants... I know I've known this girl what? half a day? But there is something about her that intrigues me and wants me to find out more.

''What would you know!'' I snapped back surprising Ashton equally as much as he surprised me. 

''She told me , she doesn't like you okay so leave her alone''

I just nodded a bit taken back by his answer... Did she really tell him that?

''Man , can you just promise me not too fall for her! Please I don't want a girl coming in between the band especially my sister'' Ashton admitted.

I guess he was right , I would freak out if anyone was too date Mali my sister. I almost killed Michael when he said he was crushing on her in grade 10.

''Did she really say she hated me?'' I asked ,

''Umm...well she said she dislikes you not so much hates. You've only know each other less than a day.'' he reminds me , I'll hold on to that little bit of hope I guess.

''Alright'' I replied

REBECCA

Um , I don't know where I am even going I've been circling the streets for half an hour and It looks like its about to rain... typical. I take out my phone and my fingers find the call button as I randomly press Calums name. We all exchanged numbers last night so I had the bands and Anas number I pressed the call button and waited for Calum to answer , he answered after a couple of rings.

''Yeah?''

''Hey Cal , its Becky''

''Oh Hi'' his voice dull and blunt.

''Can you come pick me up i'm kinda lost and Ashtons phone is going to voicemail...'' I laugh awkwardly.

''I cant im busy'' he says

Oh...

''Oh okay i'll just call Ana'' I say quickly and then he hung up the phone.

What was that all about? That was very rude... maybe he does think I'm a slut from last night.

I sent a quick text to Ana and she said she would be there in a few , I was standing at one of the bus stops I could of just got the bus but I didn't know how long it would take and what one to get.

''Rebecca?'' a raspy voice says , 

I ignore it because who in there right mind would be talking to me. I felt a tap on my shoulder and i turned around coming face to face with a guy about my age , he had really green eyes and short brown hair styled in a quiff. He looked familiar but I just didn't know who he was.

''Um ...sorry to bother but is your name Rebecca?'' he asks I nod slowly.

''Rebecca Irwin?'' he repeats again.

''Thats me, who are you?'' I asked nervously pushing my bag up my shoulder, the young boy lets out a small laugh before he speaks

''Its me Matthew... we went to high school together , ''

''Um sorry i went to high school in Melbourne''

''I know that silly...you seriously don't remember me?'' he asks his smile fading and he looks quite sad , I scrunch up my eyebrows and start to think Matthew...

''Wait , Matthew Stoke? You were the one who had a crush on me?? but instead of saying you liked me you just tortured me until senior year'' I asked , Matthew started laughing and blushed a little.

''Yeah that's me , sorry about that don't worry I'm  over you now'' he rolled his eyes playfully making me let out a soft laugh.

''Thats fine , It's great to see you again'' I say.

''I know what are you doing in Sydney?'' he asks

''Oh im visiting my mom and my brother , how about you? '' i smile

''I live here now , with my sister and my niece , I actually work in a starbucks just around the corner... nothing too fancy I know.'' he blushes but covers it with an adorable smile

There is a sound of a car horn and I turn around to be faced with a white fiat , I squint my eyes and see Ana inside waving , I nod to her and tell her holding up my finger to gesture to her I'd be there in a second.

''I've gotta run , Its strange seeing you... a good strange.'' 

''Yeah so weird a small world, Hey can I maybe get your number we could meet up or something.'' he asks , I nod and take his phone entering my number and handing it back to him.

''Bye Matt' I smile and walk towards the car opening the door and doing up my seatbelt.

'Oooh who was that'' Ana nudges me ,

''Just a high school friend '' I say and she nods.

The rest of the car ride we spend small talking and singing along to the radio with our hideous voices until we stop outside the studio.

''Here you go'' Ana smiles parking up and looking at me with a grin.

''Thanks, You can come watch if you like.. I could use a ride home'' I giggle , she rolls her eyes and takes the key out of the ignition and follows me inside of the building.

When we got back into the car I noticed I had a text message from Calum. I opened it up and read it while Ana sang along to the radio.

'' I'm sorry for being a dick earlier '' it said the text was from Calum ,

I quickly hit my thumbs on my phone to sent him a text back.

'' Don't be sorry you were busy ,I understand''

The second message I opened was from Mathew the guy I met earlier today.

'' Hello Stranger , its Matthew just to let you know ... want to go out for a drink later??''

I sent him a quick text back , I wasn't sure if i did want to go out or not , it's been a busy day. I quickly saved his number and put my phone down.

''Maybe another time :) ,I have a lot going on at the moment.''

''Okay thats fine ...it was just a idea if you change your mind Just call me ''

He replied seconds later , I left it at that and dropped my phone back into my bag.

''Hey sis , where you been '' Ashton said , as I walked into the house again with Ana.

'Working like i told you'' I replied back.

''Ana where have you been I missed you!'' Luke said , waddling over and wrapping his arms around her.

It made me laugh because he kind of resembled a penguin...

''Oh I took Becca to work and watched...AND GUESS WHAT I'M GOING TO BE ON HER BLOG !'' she squealed. 

''As long as she doesn't steal you from us before tour... I mean who is going to dye my hair?'' Michael squints at me jokingly joining us in the hallway.

''Thats amazing'' Luke said twirling Ana round , 

Aw did i mention they were adorable.

''Back on tour?? I thought you finished'' I asked making my way into the kitchen to pour myself some juice.

''Nah we're having a two month break before we head to America'' Ashton said , I nodded and slipped my shoes off walking into the living room and plopping myself down next to Calum and Michael.

I've been here for nine days now , Calum hasn't spoke to me once or even looked at me. We were all in the living room eating pizza and talking , I rested my head on Calum's shoulder and he shrugged me off.

''Cal what your prob-''

''Shut up'' he spat ,

 I was a bit taken back so i stood up and walked out the room.

''Wait R-'' I ignored him and ran up the stairs. 

I took out my phone and tapped on Mathews number.

''About that drink... is it too late?'' 

I feel bad for leaving it this long but I needed to get out of this house every day Calum is here and its causing awkward tension for everyone and I hate to be the route of the problem.

'' Its never too late , I'm just finishing up now so meet me in maybe 5 minutes or you can come early and wait x''

His reply is short and quick, I take up his offer on going early and place my phone on my dressing table. I quickly curl my hair and put on a bit of eye makeup. I changed from my sweatpants and put on some grey skinnies jumping up and down to fit in them. I pull out a decent looking t-shirt and  looked around for my converse but couldn't find them anywhere.

''Going somewhere?'' a voice said behind me ,

 I turned around looking at Calum for a moment. Before turning back and spotting my shoes by the end of the bed I pick them up slipped them on then , began walking away from the room.

''Rebecca wait please'' he spoke softly ,

 I sighed once again before stopping in my tracks and turning around.

''What'' I snap angrily.

''I'm sorry for being a dick! '' he says and its the second time I've heard this stupid apology.

''Okay'' I shrug taking off down the stairs.

''So we're friends?'' he asks making me stop to turn around and face him again.

''Sure...'' I say sarcastically

''So where are you going?'' he asks again and he is starting to irritate me more then my brother.

''Just out with a friend'' I reply.

''What friend?'' My mother says appearing out of the living room as I turn my attention to her.

''Just one from high school , met up with him couple of weeks ago , and promised him i'd go for some coffee'' I say.

''Oooh get in there'' my mother laughed , I shook my head laughing. I walked down the stairs and poked my head around the door

''I'm going out now... see you guys later'' 

''Who??'' Ashton asks

''You wont know him'' I roll my eyes at my brother , he just doesn't know when to keep his nose out.

''Him?...Rebecca i don-''

''I'm going Ash , and you can't stop me okay! I'm putting my foot down OKAY!'' I snap. 

Ashtons eyes go wide and he lets out a exagerated sigh , walking over to me he gave me a small hug.

''I'm sorry , i'm so protective over you... have fun okay'' He says and for once I believe him.

''BYE'' I yelled

''Hey ...Rebecca do you want me to give you a lift?'' Calum asks before I leave the house ,

''No its fine i'll walk'' I say and close the door on him.

I made my way through the door and looked around for Matt , after a few minutes I spotted him cleaning one of the front tables. He sees me and calls over something to his co-worker and she nods. He takes off his apron and made his way over to me. We sit down at a table near the window and talked for a bit , he brought over some drinks and we began to talk.

''Oh my god I remember that!! I opened my locker and frogs were just jumping out I almost cried'' i laughed , thinking back to the story he reminded me of.

''I'm so sorry , I had weird ways of showing my affection back then.'' he laughed rubbing the back of his neck.

We must of been talking for hours now , I look at my phone and it was 9pm... yeah we've been talking for three hours. The store was empty apart from a couple of college students who were sipping caffeine every five minutes trying not to fall asleep.

''I've got the day off tomorrow. Do you want to do something?'' Matt asked. 

I nodded my head , I haven't seen much of Sydney so he could show me around I guess.

''Hey ... we could go to the beach I could get my brother and his friends to tag along too.. '' I suggested.

''Right I've got to go my sister has to go to work and I need to look after her daughter..'' he smiled , he was so charming and adorable. 

He has defiantly moved on from that asshole high school stage... well one can hope anyway.

''Okay I should head back anyway Ashton probably waiting up for me like an idiot, Why don't you bring her along tomorrow?''

''Sounds like a plan... want a ride home?'' he asked ,

''Sure why not'' I smile and follow him out into the carpark.

''Thanks for the ride Matthew , I had a great time tonight'' I smile.

''You're welcome and me too just like old times... sort of'' he laughs. He leans over and kisses my cheek I'm taken back and my cheeks warm up , So I look away in embarrassment.

''Sorry I um..''he mumbles

''Its okay, '' I say and look back at him , he looks nervous so I smile and he returns it. I openen the door giving him a wave and walk up the driveway.

''How was it...'' my mother asks , greeting me at the door. I drop my bag on the floor and nod my head , as I take off my jacket and hang it up.

''It was good'' I reply

''I know that look you kissed him'' Lauren said , poking her tongue out at me.

''Look shes blushing'' My mother coo'ed

''Stop guys ,  he kissed me on the cheek that is all.''

''Aw.. look at you you're growing up'' My mother laughs as I cringe at her words.

''How was the date'' Ashton smirks walking out of the kitchen ,

''It was not a date...'' I groan 

I walk into the living room and throw myself face first into the couch.

''I heard it all don't lie '' Ashton laughs following behind me and sitting on the opposite sofa.

''I hate you all !!'' I whine and then sit up looking towards Ashton.

'I've made plans on going to the Beach with him and his niece tomorrow and I thought you and the boys can come too'' I asked Ashton. 

''Can you guys take Harry and Lauren with you , Im going out with your Aunt sal and Uncle Brian'' Mum yells from the kitchen and I groan but agree.

''Well busy day tomorrow , Goodnight'' I excuse myself from the room before I can be bombarded with twenty questions.

''Night''

I went up to my room and changed into some baggy grey shorts and a large baseball top , I brushed my teeth , washed my face and tied my hair up in a messy bun. I slipped into bed and unlocked my phone i had a couple of text messages and I opened them one by one replying to them quickly.

Matt : '' Had a great night thanks :) , can't wait too see you tomorrow x''

'Yeah me too , see you tomorrow  ,  my brother and his mates will be joining us as well as my other siblings  see you tomorrow.. about 1pm? xx' 

I send back.

The last text message were from Calum I wonder what he wants now , I'm still pissed off but I guess 'll have to let it go eventually. 

''Can't wait too see you tomorrow beautiful xxx '' 

It said... what the hell. I think this kid is bipolar first he's cursing me out then he's calling me beautiful.

'Haha me too , i don't think friends call each other beautiful but thank you x'' 

I send back and within seconds he has replied.

''Who said we have too be just friends? Go too sleep beautiful <3 :P xxx''

What did he mean by that.

After that i placed my phone down on the side , and pulled the covers over me.
