Turtle Invasion, Not Kraang

Right as we got out of the sewers, Leo started talking, the rest of us piled in uncomfortably as he said, "Alright guys, we're gonna keep it simple. We'll go to TCRI and we use the Micro-fision on the disintegrator, which Donnie calculates is powerful enough to destroy the portal with a single shot."

"What was that special gear thing called?" Julie asked softly, looking at us.

I looked at her and could only smile, "A thing that when it shoots make the item poof."

"It's called zwiing-shhhooooo," Naomi said, looking at us. Then she smirked and ended with a popping like sound with her lips. Melanie giggled a little from beside her.

Mikey looked at us then smiled before looking at Leo, "So why didn't we use that last time?"

"Because we didn't have it last time," Donnie pointed out.

Mikey glared at him, "You have an answer to everything, don't you?"

"Yes. I do," Donnie said with a smart-allec smile, making me want to hit him. But Raph distracted me.

"Good one, Donnie," he started out, looking at Donnie. He looked at Julie's confused face as he turned to face Leo. His eyes rolled and continued, "Speaking of good one; you sure this is gonna work?"

We were all quiet as we looked at Leo. Julie was flicking her tail nervously and I noticed that I was starting to get pushed into the wall, her fur sticking out and making me move away so I wouldn't suffocate in the fluff.

"It has to work," Leo finished, his eyes on the camera in front of him to watch the road.

As we sat in silence, Donnie looked at the pile of items beside the disintegrator. "Mikito, could you start handing those out?"

"What?" I asked, leaning down and removing the sheet covering them. I picked one up and found it was a folded backpack. "These? What are these?"

"You'll find out," he smirked. "I've been working on adjustments to them, so they should work when we use them."

"Yeah..." I said. "But what are they?"

"Stop asking and just pass them," Naomi sighed, taking the one out of my hand and tossing it beside Leo's chair. He didn't touch it until we parked a few blocks away in the shadows.

Soon, everyone had a backpack that seemed heavier than it looked. I tried to look inside it, but Donnie pulled my hand away, "Wait until we're outside!"

"Why?" Julie asked this time. "Will it attack us? Why would you give us something that would attack us!"

"Julie!" Sophie looked at her. She looked at the blue-green masked turtle with wide brown eyes. "We're just going outside and opening them. Relax..."

"And before we go..." Donnie said, waiting for all of us to pass. When I followed Melanie who was the second-to-last Turtle out, Donnie went to the disintegrator and Metalhead. I walked out of the Razor and put the backpack on as we all waited for Donnie. When he walked out, he looked at all of us and said, "When you have the backpacks on, just pull on the green strap to the left of you. Not your fur, Julie..."

"Well... My fur's green..." she muttered, looking at the straps. "And I can't tell which is fur and which is the strap..."

Sighing with a smile, Donnie came up to her and grabbed the backpack strap that was literally mingled in with her fur. He pulled on it and the backpack opened with wings black wings snapping out. Shocked, Julie turned to look at them, but she managed to turn around completely, knocking Donnie down. She heard the fall and turned to him, smiling apologetically.

When I did the same, the same types of wings snapped out. In front of me, the others did the same and I noticed that there were mini fans on the joints that made the top bend in the wing. There were now handlebars in front of the backpack straps; they had swung by everyone's heads and were snuggly fit.

As all the wings were extended, Donnie grabbed an extra device from the Shell Razor and pressed a button. It drove off a few seconds later. He placed a headset on and looked at Leo for the next set of instructions, even though we all knew what was going to happen next: Get to high ground to take off. When we first talked about this, I wasn't sure what they were talking about until now.

When we started climbing up the nearest fire escape, our wings kept clashing together. So Donnie folded his. Leo did the same, but the rest of us missed how he did it, so we went one by one and tried not to collide the tips with the building or the ledges. I made it without so much as a scratch on my wings. Naomi came up beside me with an excited Melanie behind her. Naomi's wings were bent and shredded. She looked at us with an annoyed yet relieved glance.

"I can't fix them now, Naomi," Donnie explained. "Why don't you just go back to the lair?"

"So you take the only ride home too," she growled, but she folded the wings as best she could into the backpack once more before hopping across rooftops back to the lair. I imagine she was relieved because now she didn't have to deal with the Kraang...

But Donnie came around us one by one and started the engines on the fans. I immediately felt lighter. I blinked and looked down and saw the ground getting smaller and smaller. I started getting nervous until Mikey came up by me and smiled, taking my hand. We were getting higher and higher. Finally, the rest of us came up by us.

Donnie looked at everyone, "Alright. Now all you really have to do is lean in the direction you want to go. So everybody lean forward. We're flying the rest of the way."

So as we were above the building, Donnie gave us mini flight lessons on how to control the flying backpacks. The handles were actually accelerant and decelerate. And the fans, once Melanie asked, were to keep wind flow above the wings, not just below since we couldn't flap them like a bird.

"So we got it?" Donnie asked us. We all nodded and he paused, looking at his T-phone. "Alright. We gotta hurry. Metalhead is almost at TCRI." He banked to the side and led us in the direction of TCRI. When we actually took off, Donnie started playing on his phone, but I knew it was actually to control Metalhead. After a few moments, he put it away and shouted over the wind, "I put Metalhead on auto. The distraction is complete!"

As we flew, we started cheering from the relief of actual flying and not training exercises for it. Mikey flipped around and around like a barrel. I tried it once, but started plummeting down until Julie came and caught me, helping me to level back off.

About half way to TCRI, Raph called out to him, "Nice work, Donnie!" Donnie gave a phone-call-like symbol with his hand and shook it a little with a smile as if to say "radical".

"You know what it's time for?" Mikey sped around us. We all watched him, but I started to feel dizzy from his loops and turns. "The world's first ever mid-air high three!"

We all laughed and I twisted around as everyone was gathering in one spot. We raised our hands, careful of the wings and gave a high-three. Sophie was actually above us, giving a downward high-three because there was no more room for the regular high-three.

As we separated, I held my hands close to my face with some difficulty from the wind pull and exclaimed, "This is amazing! Turtle's were born to fly!"

Mikey laughed as he spun around me. Melanie giggled and put her hands up by her wings, acting like she was a bird, and banked and turned in the air, enjoying herself. Julie looked like the wind was both bothersome and enjoyable from the wind pull. I just let the wings carry me, relaxing a little.

"Alright guys," Leo said as we neared TCRI. "Let's do this."

"No more Kraang!" Sophie shouted as we went up higher, toward the pointy tops of the building.

We landed on a ledge a little more harder than I expected and chased off a few pigeons. The wings folded around us like they were actual wings and it made me want to take off again to goof off. Maybe later...

I heard a troubled coo from one pigeon and saw Raph pinning it down. I wanted to shout at him but I wasn't sure if there was a Kraang patrol or not. We all folded our wings as Raph picked the bird up and held it to an edge above us. I looked closer and saw a camera. I was glad that I didn't shout at him to put the bird down.

So we snuck past him as he stood with the bird in his hand. As the last of us were past, I saw him put the bird down and join us on the other corner. Leo was the first one waiting on the edge as he looked around the corner. He had his fist up to signal silence, so we waited.

Then I heard, "It is quiet. The precise amount of quiet." in the most monotone Kraang voice ever.

Leo then motioned Melanie forward and she scooted past everyone and stepped where the Kraang would see her. "Hey Kraang!" I watched her as she giggled and shook her butt at them. Then she grabbed some climbing claws and pretended to pitch herself forward in an accident. It still scared me and I wanted to go over and see if she was okay.

Two Kraang droids came up to the corner and looked down. Then looked over as Sophie knocked them over the edge, sending them miles below. Julie and I came over and helped Melanie up completely. Then waited as Leo shot a grappling hook to the nest pin needle in the sky, lower than we were.

Donnie swung down while holding his staff, Julie with just her hands since they had scales to protect her palms, Raph with two bonfa blasters, me with my Katanas on their dull ends, Mikey with a nunchuck, Sophie with a wrist wrapping of hers, Leo with the dull sides of his Katanas, and Melanie with Mikey's other nunchuck since she didn't have anything on her to help her down except her Tessens which wouldn't help since they were flat.

As we landed on another ledge, I recognized it as the one we busted out earlier in the year. We saw Leatherhead go through the portal with lava man that day... Mikey was mortified, and we were all disappointed or sad.

There was still a hole that the lava man had busted out of the wall, so we waited until we were positive no Kraang were looking before slipping in and up to the cords and pipes above all the Kraang. We could tell they never checked up here because it was really dusty and slippery because of the silly particles.

We were each holding on to a cord of some sort, looking around at the scene in front of us. Donnie whispered softly, "We gotta take out that portal."

But in front of the portal with its back to us was the lava man. Tall and dark stone with lava red veins where its rock joints joined. We all froze and Raph muttered, "I forgot about him..."

"Didn't Leatherhead take him back to Dimension X?" I asked softly.

"Then something must've happened if that thing is back," Sophie muttered. But when she saw Mikey's expression, she quickly added, "Or they may have multiple of them...?"

"Guys," Donnie said softly. "Don't worry. We'll be out of here before that rock monster knows we're here..."

"You're sure?" I asked.

Leo started aiming the disintegrator, which he got from Donnie, at the portal. As it started firing up, he said, "Okay everybody... This all ends in three... Two... One..." and he fired the large orange ball from the tip of the distingerator to the portal. It hit it, but it didn't disappear. It stayed. And there was a purple-like barrier that went off when it touched it. Leo turned immediately to Donnie, "It has a force field? Why didn't you tell me!"

"Well, because I wanted us to fail," Donnie said in a snarky tone with a smile that fit. Then he glared at Leo, "Obviously I didn't know!"

And with the scream, I looked down as Kraang started aiming at us and firing. I gulped and asked, "Anyone got a plan B?"

Then I heard rock grinding rock and turned around and screamed, just as the others noticed it too. They all cried out and we all split up as a fist slammed into the pipe we were on. I ran off the end of the pipe and landed on one of the edges of the Kraang portal.

As I hopped down, I heard Leo scream and then a leg flew by my head, making my eyes widen in shock and realization that I almost had my head taken off. I hopped off the edge of the portal and slashed at some nearby Kraang who then turned to me when they noticed I was there before shooting at me. I yelped and hid behind the portal, letting the force field protect me.

"How's that plan B coming, Donnie?!" I heard one of the boys shout.

"I'm thinking!" I heard Donnie's reply.

"Well think faster!" I heard one of the girls shout. I slashed at a Kraang that strayed too close while backing away from someone.

"I could probably hack into the Kraang system if you gave me enough time!"

"Great!" I heard Julie's voice close. "Do that!"

I then looked up as Julie ran in front of me, notching an arrow. Past her, Donnie was hopping up on a Kraang ledge, knocking to Kraang floating machines away. He grabbed his satchel he was carrying and plugged into the Kraang device.

I turned around and dodged a slamming fist just in time from the rock monster that only had one good leg left. As I hopped back, Leo came up beside me and blasted the arm that attacked me. I blinked as it was thrown against the wall. Turning around, I blocked a Kraang blast with one of my Katanas. When I did, I heard Leo say, "This thing is running out of juice."

"And guys?" I heard Melanie cry. We all looked at her as she pointed at the portal. "Look! The portal!"

As she finished the sentence, the portal's gears made the three gun-like things tilt upward, something I haven't seen before. I gulped, scared for whatever reason on why the portal was tilting upward rather than staying down below like it had last time. It stopped suddenly and I looked at Donnie who was pressing his T-phone for it to speed up.

"Whatever is coming through that portal is coming soon!" Leo cried.

"How's the forcefield hack coming?" Sophie shouted at Donnie just as Raph hopped above him on a different ledge. They exchanged words before Raph toppled forward from a Kraang shot.

At first, I honestly thought that he would end up like Naomi had the last time, but I guess the shot hit something metal because he got up and anger was written in his eyes. I didn't want to know what happened to the Kraang droid, so I was relieved when another one came up and tried to saw me in half from the saw under its gun. I raised my Katanas on time and kicked out with one foot, sending the Kraang flying back. As it fell back, I ran up and jabbed a point of my blade into its rib cage, just above the Kraang brain underneath.

And just as I was getting up from pulling my Katana out, my other Katana was knocked out of my hand from a black blur. I cried out, holding my hand and looking at what did it. It turned out it was Leo. He did something to the rock monster to have no limbs whatsoever. I retrieved my lost Katana and saw the back of my hand bleeding from the uneven surface of the rock that hit me.

"Look out! Rock pieces moving!" Julie cried out, hopping out of the way as a rock hand crawled past her. I hopped out of the way as the piece of rock that hit me rolled past and toward the monster. As I watched, it put itself back together!

"I wanna learn how to do that!" I shouted, but I knew I was still watching in fear.

"You're living being!" Julie came up to me. "That thing is a rock..."

"With lava blood," Sophie finished as she passed us and hurried up to Leo. They started backing up from the monster as it started standing back up.

"I think I got it!" Donnie's voice suddenly shouted. When I looked over, there was a hula girl dancing from a toaster. From the corner of my eye, I saw the purple-invisible forcefield fall down. "Yes! All hail me!"

So just as he finished it, the portal lights beamed and I jumped from the suddenness. I backed up and ground my teeth, unsure what to actually do since Leo had the tool to destroy the portal. As I watched, the lights from each portal part shot upward where they meet and Donnie hopped down beside us all.

"Uh oh..." Julie muttered.

"Purple's not good!" Melanie whimpered. Then noticed Donnie glaring at her then changed it, "Portal light's not good!"

Outside the window, there was a giant Kraang ship coming out from the portal. It looked too big to move too quickly, but from the way it was coming out of the portal, I wasn't surprised what kind of engines that beast had.

"Holy giant floating shippy ship..." I heard Mikey say. I looked over at him and he was staring at the ship that was coming down out of the portal.

Without warning, the Kraang we hadn't defeated yet started regrouping and shooting at us. I yelped as one shot my arm, but when I looked, it was only a graze and I was grateful. But we all hid behind the portal, letting the Kraang shoot at nothing but the protection barrier.

"Leo!" Sophie cried. "Come on!"

"Do the zippy zappy thing now!" Mikey wailed.

"Come on, baby..." Leo muttered, watching the disintegrator, ignoring rather rude glances at him from Sophie. "Come on baby! Come on... baby!" beeping came from the disintegrator then clicked and beeped a long second, telling us it was done and ready to shoot. "Yes!" he got up and turned to the portal, "Say goodnight, Kraang!" He shot it, but nothing came out except smoke.

We all gaped and a few of us gasped. "What the heck happened?!"

"I think the batteries died!" Leo tried.

"And we'll be next if somebody doesn't think of something fast!" Sophie snarled, probably still mad that Leo called the broken or dead gun "baby". Raph got up and blocked up with a fallen Kraang body from earlier as we tried brainstorming.

"So what's plan C?" I shouted over the laser shots that almost killed Naomi once. I wonder what she was doing at the lair right now? With Sensei and being safe? Or fixing the wing that was slashed?

"Donnie, what would happen if I ruptured the power cell?" Leo finally asked.

"The whole place would go up!" Donnie cried, looking over my shoulder. I looked behind me and saw the lava monster coming at us. "With us in it!"

That's when Leo grabbed one of his katanas from its sheathe for the first time since this mission since he was busy carrying the disintegrator. "Go!"

We all froze and looked at him. Sophie was horrified. Donnie exclaimed, "Whoa, Leo. You're not thinking what I think you're thinking!" And without answering back, Leo went to distract rock monster away from us. "He's thinking it!"

"That means we gotta go!" Julie cried. "Come on!"

"Leo!" Sophie wailed, trying to run at him, but I grabbed her and pushed her back. "No!"

"He'll be fine!" I shouted at her, pushing her after everyone. "Let's go!"

Everyone was jumping up the portal to the ledges and to the hole in the wall where we entered. We opened the wings to our backpacks and took off. Before I made sure Sophie left, I saw Leo attacking Kraang before jumping at the Power Cell. I gulped and jumped after my blue-green masked sister.

Just as I did, air from the explosion from the Power Cell pushed me forward in flight, making me tumble away. I cried out in fright and tried to right myself again, but nothing could do it; holding my arms out and grabbing onto the handles by my head. Nothing stopped the fall or tumbling. Until I felt hands at my waist. I looked up at Sophie. Her expression was empty and hurt.

I was starting to wonder if I should have left her with Leo... But she was my sister and I couldn't. Julie and Melanie dived down to us and I looked at them. Both of their expressions were hurt as well. As in Leo didn't get out in time.
