Another Kraang Base

My dreams were comforting and nice, but then the next day came and I slowly woke up, but kept my eyes closed. Though soon, I felt I was being watched, so I opened my eyes.

Bright, green, Raphael eyes stared right at me and I screamed, pushing up with my hands and knees and rolled off the bed. Panting, I sat up and looked at Melanie, laughing, falling back on her shell, holding her stomach. Naomi, in her closet, was chuckling, a smirk written on her face as she put things away.

“You find that funny?!” I practically screamed.

Melanie stopped laughing for a second and nodded, wiping her tears away, “I do, actually. Who did you think I was?”

“Your father!” I answered. It sounded weird actually saying something like that and it even made me blush for some odd reason.

Laughing again, Melanie shook her head and looked over at Naomi. I followed her gaze and got up, going over to Naomi, watching her put things away. “What’cha dooooing?”

“Putting memories away,” she answered simply, putting away a FootClan symbol that I never noticed that she wore, and a journal that looked finished. I reached for the journal curiously.

Naomi’s hand slapped my own away and her blue eyes glared at me softly, “No.”

“Sorry…” I muttered, rubbing my wrist. Again, I looked at the FootClan symbol. “Did you ever wear that…?”

“This?” Naomi asked, grabbing the glove that was made for specifically three fingers. It was black, but on the top, there was a FootClan symbol that made me shudder. “A few times… But never around you all.”

“Why?” I asked.

“Because then you may think me as completely changed when I never was,” she answered, putting it back right beside the journal. “Now come on. Everyone’s waiting.”

I nodded and looked over. Melanie was already out of the room so Naomi and I followed her. Everyone was gathered in Donnie’s lab, so Naomi led the way in.

Of course, Donnie was in the center of everybody, Leo right beside him, Naomi coming to the left of him, Mikey and Raph were both in front of Donnie, Natasha and Kyoto were behind them, Melanie and Sophie were on either side, Melanie being closer to Naomi and Sophie closer to Leo, and me, coming in, went to stand by Mikey.

“Alright,” Donnie said as we all filed in. “I found another Kraang base near 56th and 40th street.”

“How do you know it’s a base?” Sophie asked. “It could just be a normal building.”

“I’ve had help figuring it out,” Donnie answered, sneaking a glance at Naomi who crossed her arms and tapped her foot impatiently. Everyone saw his glance and said nothing else. We knew Shredder made an alliance with the Kraang, and therefore would probably tell his soldiers to help the Kraang, so odds are, Naomi would know too.

“Well,” Leo nodded, gathering the map. “That’s settled, so lets go.”

As we went to the Shell Raiser, Kyoto, Natasha, surprisingly Melanie stayed back. Naomi looked at Melanie, but nodded, entering the Raiser. We took up our original spots and Leo drove off, opening the tunnel hatch and letting us take to the city.

Halfway there, Mikey started getting bored and twirled in his seat. I watched in amusement, making him hit my hand on his kneepad every time he turned. He laughed and I giggled, having a small stone thrown at my head in the process.

“Ow!” I whined, even though it didn’t hurt. I turned around and Naomi was tossing another stone up and down in her hand, glaring at me. Where she got it, I will never ask, but I didn’t giggle again for a while.

When we were almost there, Mikey was still spinning, but then he paused and sighed, “Another day… Another Kraang hunt…”

Again, I giggled and another stone was thrown at my head, making me grit my teeth. That one stung a little more than the previous one, so I glared back at Naomi who was twirling a ninja star through her fingers. I gulped, and let it rest.

Mikey got up and snuck over to Raph, whom Naomi was watching, other than twiddling with the music knobs and the ninja star. Raising himself, Mikey pressed down on Raph’s shoulder quickly, making Raph jump a little, flinching away from his touch.

“Raph! Fire the weapons!” Mikey cried. I laughed, sitting down in Mikey’s chair to keep my balance.

“No way,” Raph growled, pushing him off his shoulders.

“See, that’s your problem,” Mikey said, observing him and his computer screen carefully. “If I was in charge, I’d be shooting at everything! That sign, bang! That mailbox boom! That portapotty splat!”

This time, I even heard Naomi chuckle, but her face was turned toward the knobs of the stereo, so I couldn’t tell if it was her or not.

Laughing, I turned to the map and gasped, “Oh! Leo! Turn left!”

“Thanks, Mikito.” Leo sighed, turning. “At least you’re paying attention… And, Mikey, that’s why you’re not in charge of the weaponry.”

“Who knows what havoc can bestow us all,” Sophie finally cut in, looking at us.

“‘Bestow’?” Raph repeated, turning to look at her. “Since when has your dictionary increased?”

“Since I said so,” she answered, sticking her tongue out before turning back to Leo‘s driving.

“Leo, your building is on the right,” Naomi suddenly said, pushing a random button.

At her last comment, I turned to the map. Mikey came up behind me and covered my eyes, making me squeal. Leo slammed on the breaks, making me and Mikey fall to the ground.

Mikey’s hands were uncovered from me and I looked up. Leo, Raph, Donnie, and Sophie were staring at us with expressions of annoyance.

“Next time,” Sophie sighed, putting her hand on her forehead. “Squeal when there really is a threat…”

“Mikey is a threat,” Naomi pointed out, climbing out of the Shell Raiser. “A threat to the smart society.”

“What’s with the big words?” Raph sighed, getting up and out.

“Hey!” I cried. “Mikey is not that stupid!”

Mikey got up and helped me up, offering his hand. I took it and we followed the others out. As we climbed out, I kept his hand and his mine. We all looked up at the Kraang base.

“This sure doesn’t seem like a Kraang base…” Donnie started.

“Let’s trash the place!” Raph said urgently, not caring whether or not it was a Kraang base or not.

“Us with our vocabulary, and you with your smashing eagerness…” Sophie rolled her eyes.

Raph looked at her and growled, clenching a fist, but Leo stopped him, slightly blocking Sophie from him. “Calm down, Raph. Don’t touch her firstly and secondly, we do a quick recon, then smash the place.”

Sophie looked at Leo slightly shocked at his first comment and then nodded at Raph on his second. Raph looked at Leo then Sophie before shrugging his shoulders and looking down.

“Fine… Wake me when we get to the trashy part,” he muttered.

“I wanna go in after the trashy part…” I whispered to Mikey who sorta nodded at my comment.

Naomi rolled her eyes, shook her head, and chuckled lowly, patting Raph’s shell before going up to the building. Of course, nobody objected her and just followed, but Raph was still hesitant.

Entering the building, we all looked around. It was already trashed up. Kraang robot pieces were strung everywhere and equipment was busted and broken.

“Aww…” Raph complained, looking around. “Someone beat us to it…”

“Oh relax,” Naomi said. “There’ll be more for you to beat up later.”

As we came in the building more, Mikey and I saw a spinning chair at the same time and rushed to it, ignoring the debris and jumped at it. Mikey landed first and me in his lap. We both laughed, me blushing slightly.

Donnie looked through shelf and things and saw something interesting because he then said, “Oooo, a centrifuge. Hey! It’s still good!”

“If I ever get that excited about a centrifuge,” Raph said, looking at Leo and Naomi. “Just, put me out of my misery.”

“I’ll get right on that,” Naomi said sarcastically, moving away and seeing something in a desk.

Mikey got up, making me fall on my front shell and went over to Naomi. Even Donnie was interested and came over. He was holding the centrifuge and saw the bugs and wasps in the case pinned to paper.

“Seems like they were experimenting on arthropods…” Donnie examined.

“Oh this should be fun for Raph then,” Sophie snickered, hearing Donnie’s comment.

Raph growled and stepped up to her, clenching a fist, but Leo got in the way again, blocking her. Growling, Raph backed away and crossed his arms, “Fascinating, Donnie… Really fascinating.”

“He doesn’t try,” Naomi said, looking around still boredly. I could tell she was waiting for something, but what, I was seriously about to find out.

Beside me, Mikey paused and looked up, stiffening, “Hey, Donnie.”

“Yeah?” his brother asked.

“How big would one of those arthropods be?” Mikey asked. I decided to follow his gaze and I gasped, covering my mouth.

“A bee would be three centimeters and a wasp… six, maybe?”

“Then what the heck is THAT?!” I screamed, pointing up at the ceiling as a large yellow and black wasp jumped down from the broken ceiling. It looked at us and flickered its wings and antennas, tilting its head rather skillfully, like an owl.

We all paused then it jumped right at us.
