Cold. The first thing I felt when I came out of the car. A slight cold wind played with the lose strains of my hair, tingling me in my face. I felt someone grabbing my arm, guiding me over uneven, soft ground. On our slow walk the wind started to smell slightly like fish. The cold stung a bit in my lung. I took a deep breath through my mouth. Salty. I closed it again and a slight saltiness settled on my tongue from the humid air around me. I closed my hands to fists. They were slightly damp. It must be foggy around us. "Quite strange weather we having, ey?" A rasp voice rang in my ears. "I suppose", I spoke, "It's my first time around here. I don't know what the weather is usually like." A scoff.
"It really is strange", my escort started to talk, "Extremely foggy, for this time of the year. I couldn't even spot the house, when we exited the car." "Well, I wouldn't know...", I mumbled. I felt the body next to me relax a little and their shoulders slightly turning to me. They are looking at me. "What? It's true!", I protested. A slight snigger escaped my partner. Shaking their body. "I know, sweetheart. I'm sorry. " They tucked a strain of hair behind my ear. I smiled. "Are ya done, lads?" "Yes, my apologies!" They tugged me with them, moving towards the old man that was now speaking again: "I was really surprised that someone booked the cabin for such a long time. What are you people up to?" The question sounded rude but his voice didn't sound scurrilous, if, a slight curiosity swung in his voice. "We-" "Family business!", I interrupted. We stopped walking, it made me feel uneasy. Was that too rude? Too direct? Or maybe we just reached a closed door. Heavy breathing than a click. Ah, so it was a closed door.
