1. Maaari mo bang ibahagi sa amin ang kuwento sa likod ng iyong Wattpad username?

My username "VimLights" came from two words which is "Vim" and "Lights." Vim means "Enthusiasm" and the Lights came from the word "Enlightenment." Pakiramdam ko kasi ito iyong purpose and main reason ko in writing, which is to spread enthusiasm and enlightenment. I always wanted to inspire people through my works and I'm still aiming for that. I wanted to give lessons through my works but also I want them to enjoy.

2. Kung bibigyan ka ng pagkakataon na makapagsulat ng kahit anong kuwento na walang limitasyon, ano ang magiging tema nito?

Siguro if mabibigyan ako ng chance to write a novel without limitations, it will be a novel that involves socio-political issues and themes. A novel that reflects the current society and politics that we had, and to address these issues. Kasi pakiramdam ko ay dapat pa nating pag-usapan o i-highlight iyong mga ganitong usapin o topics, siguro in a creative manner para mas madaling ma-digest ng audience and mas madali sila maka-relate.

Literature is a reflection of reality, so I wanted to write a novel that mirrors the reality we have today. Talking about socio-political issues is very crucial these days. Such as issues about economic inequality, gender inequlity, healthcare, media, and violence. It will be a dream come true for me kung makakapagsulat ako ng novel kung saan maraming issue tulad ng nabanggit kong examples na maipapakita at ma-analyze sa novel(s) ko. That would be very nice! Overall, I wanted to use this opportunity as a writer, to connect with the readers and give them insights of how that certain socio-political issue affects an individual, a family, and the society as a whole.

3. Ano ang pinakamahirap na aspeto ng pagiging manunulat?

I think the hardest aspect of being a writer is having too many ideas and doesn't know how to arrange them. I also think writing itself is hard, you need to be creative to write. Pero iyon nga, minsan ang hirap kapag marami kang idea. Ang hirap mag-stick minsan sa isang story. Like minsan gusto mo ipagsabay-sabay kahit wala kang time.

4. Saan mo nakikita ang sarili mo pagkalipas ng limang taon?

After 5 years, I see myself as a licensed Civil Engineer, and a person who travels the country and the world who writes stories from her random experiences and people she met. Siguro after five years, gusto ko lang makapagsulat ng maraming stories. Kasi in reality, when it comes sa career path, I really see myself as an engineer and entrepreneur. And writing will be my escape in reality. So, patuloy pa rin akong magsusulat at lilikha ng mga nobela. Kasi hindi na iyon maaalis sa akin. To be honest, when it comes to writing career, I don't know and I don't have specific plan. I am just going with the flow. But after 5 years, I still can see myself writing because writing will always be my first love—you just can't easily get rid of your first love, I guess.

5. Ano ang nagtulak sa iyo upang isulat ang kwentong "I Can See The Future"?

To be honest, wala akong specific reason bago siya simulan. Gusto ko talaga na makatapos ng novel but I don't have time. Pandemic happened I got bored. Then, when I was in our house during pandemic, panay lang iyong panonood ko sa Youtube. Madalas ko napapanood ay videos about Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. T'saka nag-enjoy din ako panoorin iyong "The Simpsons." D'yan na-inspired iyong "I Can See The Future." Pero siguro iyong pinaka nag-push sa akin to write ICSTF ay iyong mga nakikita ko sa social media at super chaotic that time. That time, I want to write a novel that address some social issues. Para makita ng ibang readers na sa reality those issues still exists and not yet resolved.

6. Kilala ang Buwan ng Oktubre bilang buwan ng katatakutan at lagim. Bilang isang manunulat, ano ang iyong greatest fear?

Siguro ang greatest fear ko as a person ay mawalan ng loved ones. Kasi na-experience ko na siya at iniisip ko pa lang ay natatakot na ako. As a writer naman, ang fear ko ay iyong one day is mawala na iyong pagmamahal ko sa writing o sabihin na lang natin na mawalan ng gana sa pagsusulat—although I am positive that I will always love writing. Siguro iyan 'yong pinakaayaw ko na ma-experience rin as a writer.

7. Ano ang iyong technique sa paggawa ng mga titles ng iyong mga kwento? Maaari bang ibahagi mo ito?

To be honest, wala akong technique. Pero usually ang title ko ay plot-driven. Madalas bini-base ko talaga sa magiging plot ng story ko. Minsan naman ay inspired sa word na nakita ko sa book or nakasalubong ko sa pag-scroll sa social media. I am super random talaga sa mga title ko. I am also a type of reader na naho-hook sa mga phrases na title kaya minsan gano'n din ako mag-title. Masasabi ko rin na kasali ako sa klase ng writer na nauuna ang title bago ang plot. Minsan kapag tingin ko maganda sa pandinig ko, or catchy, igino-go ko na!

8. May pagkakataon bang nagagamit mo ang iyong mga kaalaman bilang estudyante ng Civil Engineering sa iyong pagsusulat? Paano ito nakaapekto sa iyong pagsusulat?

Actually yes, Siguro hindi lang as a Civ Eng Student, but as a college student as a whole. Madalas ay may mga experience ako na nadadala ko sa sinusulat ko. Currently, I am writing Archers Series which is based on my college life and university. Based sa random experiences ko sa Taft. Then, I also planned to make stories about Engineers pero as of now since I am still a student, I don't think I am qualified to talk or make stories about engineering. Kasi super wide ng engineering eh. I read some stories that involved engineers or engineering and found some inaccuracies and misconceptions—and I don't want that to happen in my works. Siguro if one day gagamitin ko knowledge ko sa engineering sa works ko, gusto ko accurate at talagang realistic. So, right now, I am still learning. Siguro one day, if I have time, I will be able to make novels that highlighted the life of engineering students and engineers. To inspire more readers and for them to truly understand this profession.

9. "I write stories about the mysteries of our cruel society." Nabanggit mo ito sa iyong profile. Maaari mo bang ipaliwanag ang kahulugan nito?

I always finds our society unjust and cruel. I mean, for me, there's still hope but you know we can't change our society overnight. Super daming double standards, too many issues na dapat i-address, there are lots of debates about ethical and legal matters. At the same time, I think that our society has a lot of mystery. Like, marami pa akong hindi alam, at sigurado ako na ang ibang readers ay gano'n din. Na-realize ko iyan by watching television, reading news, being a campus journalist, being a student, and by just a simple citizen.

That sentence means that I write stories that highlighted issues in our society and about the mystery of our society as a whole. I always wanted to write stories na nagpapakita ng mga social issues such as women abuse, poverty, injustice, and etc. Not to romanticize it but to show readers na those things happened and we need to raise awareness and those issues need solutions. Kasi sobrang laki ng effect sa lahat ng tao. Alam ko na super bigat ng mga topic na 'yon, but I think that we need more stories like that. Para mas ma-influence iyong readers na maging aware sa mga nangyayari sa society natin.

10. May maipapayo ka ba sa mga bagong manunulat?

My only advice is writing takes time, so take it easy. Take time in learning new words, new way of writing, explore different genre of stories, and never forget to enjoy writing.
