1. Maaari mo bang ibahagi sa amin ang kuwento sa likod ng iyong Wattpad username?

'Yung story po behind my username is actually a really funny story for me since nagsimula talaga 'yun when I had a crush with someone whose name starts with 'Cy', siyempre being a Science geek ever since, I just jokingly connected 'Cytosine' with my real name which made me come up with 'guaninejwl', and ever since then hindi ko na siya pinalitan since naging parte ko na talaga siya on a personal level kasi it also mirrors my love for Science.

2. Kung bibigyan ka ng pagkakataon na makapagsulat ng kahit anong kuwento na walang limitasyon, ano ang magiging tema nito?

Kung bibigyan ako ng pagkakataon na makapagsulat ng kahit anong kwento, para sa akin ang magiging tema nito would still mostly really tackle about social issues and anything that the society still stigmatizes as of today—'yung tipong walang brakes or walang takot in making somebody else uncomfortable with the truth since no'ng una palang talaga na nagsisimula akong magsulat, parang naging advocacy ko na talaga to use this platform parang maging boses ng maraming tao and at the same time, magamit din itong platform na'to to spread awareness.

3. Ano ang pinakamahirap na aspeto ng pagiging manunulat?

Ang pinakamihirap na aspeto ng pagiging manunulat for me is managing my time and retaining that same passion I had when I start writing a novel. Since now that I'm a Medical Technology Intern, and ever since I took MedTech, writing for me became harder since I have to manage my time when it comes to writing, and still prioritize my academics to the point na dumating din po ako sa punto na ilang months akong tumigil—like for example I started Gunita way back 2018 and was only able to finish it in 2020 because I entered university in 2019 and at that point I wasn't focused anymore with my writings and all that stuff because I was staying in a dorm and it was really hard for me to find another outlet for my passion, kasi by then sobrang naging busy talaga ako sa pag-aaral and part din ako ng organization kaya before the pandemic, nawalan talaga ako ng oras pagdating sa writing. Although may gano'n pa rin namang instances up until now, pero mas na-o-overcome ko na siya.

4. Saan mo nakikita ang sarili mo pagkalipas ng limang taon?

Pagkalipas ng limang taon, I could probably foresee myself as a Medicine student in her last year (hopefully)—but probably a little more confident when it comes to managing my time when it comes to my writings and my passion kasi para sa'kin, 'yung writing talaga is still my escape kapag sobrang stressed na'ko sa acads or maging sa reality talaga. Siguro even though I would be a Medical student by then, nakikita ko pa rin 'yung sarili ko na pinu-pursue 'yung passion ko, kasi kahit Science 'yung first love ko, writing really brought me to different destinations that I have never imagined before.

5. Ano ang isang mahalagang aral na gusto mong mapulot ng iyong mga mambabasa sa iyong kwento na "By Chance"?

Ang isang mahalagang aral na gusto kong mapulot ng mga mambabasa sa By Chance ay pagpapatawad at ang pagmamahal ay hindi nasusukat sa kung ga'no kayo katagal nagkahiwalay, dahil kung kayo talaga ang itinadhana ay gagawa at gagawa ng paraan ang "destiny" para pagtagpuin kayong muli.

6. Ngayong buwan ng Oktubre, nababalot ito ng katatakutan at lagim. Ano ang iyong greatest fear bilang isang manunulat?

Ang greatest fear ko bilang isang writer ay 'yung mawalan ako nang tuluyan ng passion para i-pursue itong writing. Dahil bata pa lang ako ay mahilig na talaga akong magsulat and that passion sparked when I joined Journalism as a feature writer noong elementary ako, and by then, after I discovered Wattpad, naging passionate na talaga ako when it comes to writing. Kaya as much as possible, hangga't kaya ko pang magsulat ay hindi ako tumitigil.

7. Maaari mo bang ibahagi ang iyong proseso pagdating sa world-building ng iyong mga kuwento?

Pagdating sa world-building I always make sure nowadays na I would be having a character profile kung saan do'n ko ilalagay 'yung attributes ng bawat character, even to the smallest details that I would be able to show through them and other supporting characters. Pagkatapos ng character profile, I would also create summaries per chapter kung ano'ng dapat mangyayari sa certain chapter na 'yun and including other important details that would help in developing the characters' world even more and para maging progressive talaga 'yung magiging kwento—to be honest kasama na rin dito sa summaries 'yung possible dialogues, possible settings ng characters na pwede kong ilagay. After no'n, I proceed to writing tapos whenever there's an idea that pops up while writing and sakto naman 'yun for the chapter that I am writing and helpful naman siya sa development and building ng world ay isinasama ko.

8. Nagagamit mo ba ang iyong kaalaman bilang isang Medical Technology student sa iyong pagsusulat? Paano ito nakaapekto sa iyong pagsusulat?

Actually yes. Ever since talaga gustong-gusto ko nang mag-incorporate ng medicine sa stories na sinusulat ko which I was able to do now that I'm a MedTech student, although there are still limitations while I'm exploring with this type of subgenre sa novels, nagamit ko naman fully 'yung pagiging MedTech student ko now that I'm also writing a series that focuses more on the life of Medical Technology students. The way it affects my writings leans more on the advantageous side kasi nga I've always been inclined to writing novels with medical themes kaya para sa'kin sobrang helpful talaga na may background ako sa medicine kahit pa paano and it makes research easier kasi I already have the idea and mas enough 'yung resources para as much as possible, medically accurate 'yung mga nai-input ko sa novels.

9. Ano ang favorite motto mo bilang isang manunulat? Bakit mo ito napili?

As a writer, ang favorite motto ko talaga is: "If you want to change the world, pick up you pen and write." which is a quotes by Martin Luther. Napili ko ito dahil nasabi ko na rin na ever since I started to write naging advocacy ko na talaga 'yung magamit 'yung platform ko as a writer para maging boses, para maging bridge kahit pa paano na maintindihan ng nakararami 'yung experiences ng certain characters who are involved with social issues such as stigma sa mental health, 'yung struggles ng ibang tao when it comes to politics, kasi even just through writing marami kang pwedeng i-input sa views ng character mo as an outlet para kahit pa paano we can still be able to help this world become a better place.

10. May maipapayo ka ba sa mga bagong manunulat?

Ang maipapayo ko sa mga bagong manunulat, siguro sobrang cliche nito but it's always "never give up". Marami siguro ang nawawalan din ng pag-asa when it comes to writing, since maraming aspiring writers na naghihintay pa rin no'ng big moment, but for me I have always believed na lahat tayo may perfect timing for that one big break—and sa totoo lang, sobrang laking achievement na no'ng makatapos ka ng isang nobela, or makapagsulat ka ng ilang chapters sa isang araw—always consider your small wins as wins that are worthy of celebrating. Just keep on pursuing your passion and that time will surely come. Sulat lang nang sulat! Pause if you must, but never stop—lagi mong alalahanin kung bakit ka nga ba nagsimulang magsulat.
