1. Ilang taon ka nang Wattpad Staff at ano ang posisyon mo? 

If I remember correctly, I've been working for Wattpad since December 2017. 

2. Ano ang iyong mga ginagawa bilang Wattpad Staff? 

My main work includes discovering new voices and surfacing top and rising stories and check if there's any opportunity that we can provide for them. To give you a clearer view, I review stories everyday and closely monitor the community to get a feel of the community's pulse. 

3. Paano mo napagsasabay ang pagiging kabilang sa Wattpad Staff at mga pinagkakaabalahan mo sa labas ng Wattpad? 

Since most of my life is revolving around Wattpad now, there's no clear distinction between what I read for work and what I read for leisure. I'm really lucky to have a work that I love and enjoy doing. For things outside of Wattpad, like say, building of my faith and reconnecting with the Lord, I give ample time to it. Gasgas na, pero time management lang talaga. You set time for work, for leisure, and for acts of faith. 

4. Ano ang pinakamagandang aral na natutunan mo sa pagiging Wattpad Staff? 

This is probably the hardest question to answer because what have I NOT learned from Wattpad? Haha. Everything I am, everything I can do now, it all came from the fact that Wattpad trusted me to work for them. From there kasi, I was able to explore new horizons I didn't know I could do before. I was able to get to know my skill sets and build on it. I also learned a lot of things about editing and the entertainment world, thanks to my manager's great insights. 

5. Ano ang pinakamasayang parte sa pagiging Wattpad Staff? 

The relationships between the staff. I'm so happy that I'm able to work with my friends, so it doesn't feel like I'm working at all. I also have the privilege to work under my manager's supervision. Without his patience and know-hows, I don't think I'll ever make it this far. 

6. Ano ang pinakamahirap na parte? 

Haha. Reviewing lots and lots of stories everyday. When you start doing what you love for work, the line between passion and duty tends to blur. Sometimes, I get so worn down by massive reading that I can't read for leisure anymore without feeling that I'm still working. 

7. Ano ang iyong masasabi sa culture at working environment ng Wattpad? 

Superb. Very enlightening and supportive. Very encouraging and lots and lots of surprises within. 

8. Paano nakatutulong ang iyong pagiging kabilang sa Wattpad Staff bilang isang manunulat o mambabasá? 

Sabi nga nila, you need to read so you can write. Since I've read a lot, I've been exposed to lots and lots of content, voices, and styles out there. Everyday, I learn and see new things. I learn from these writers: what works, what doesn't, what can be improved. These everyday learnings tend to build up and dance their way through my own writing as well. Also, I wasn't much of a romance reader talaga. But since part of my work involves reading lots of stories across all genres, I've learned to appreciate all the stories out there, even the steamy ones :) 

9. Maaari mo bang ibahagi sa amin ang isa sa hindi mo makalilimutang karanasan mula nang ika'y maging kabilang sa Wattpad Staff? 

I have a lot of favorite moments since I became a staff. But one of the most memorable, and the most recent one, was when I was included in a sudden meeting with the higher-ups. There were like, more or less, seven of us in the call. Five of them were heads, and one of those five was the president. The call was to specifically tell us (me and my colleague from another country) that we'd be spinning out of Wattpad and shifting into an entirely different company / entity and that they're bringing us along because the team values us. That experience hit me differently because wow, imagine, I was regarded special enough that the president found it necessary to inform me of this change in person, ahead of everyone else in the world. So wow. 

10. Bilang kabilang sa Wattpad Staff, paano mo hina-handle ang kritisismo ng ibang Wattpaders sa inyong ginagawa para sa buong community? 

We receive the criticisms graciously and act accordingly. Some criticisms need to be addressed. Some need to be monitored. Some need to be assessed. And some need to be parked, for various reasons such as hindi lahat ng criticisms ay valid. 

11. Maaari ka bang magbigay ng mensahe sa Wattpad at sa komunidad natin? 

Hi Wattpadders! It's been my greatest pleasure to serve in the community, first as an ambassador, and now as one of the staff. First of all, thank you for being the heart of the community and giving life to the storytelling world. Because of our writers and readers, many voices had been heard and more and more styles and colors are lighting up the horizons. Together, we built a community that I hope would keep empowering one another instead of dragging each other down. Keep writing. Keep reading. Keep lending your voices to the unheard. As long as you're being responsible and using your power of words accordingly, the sky is the limit. Nowadays, it's easy to forget that people have hearts and feelings behind the screen, but let's not forget the main heart of storytelling—it's to touch hearts and change lives. So with that, I hope everyone will also remember that words have power and how you use it will define who you are as a person. My hope is you will always choose to be the best version of yourself.
