Chapter 3

My hangover was thankfully gone by noon after some coffee and scrambled eggs from the cafeteria. Andy wasn't answering his phone so I figured he was either still sleeping or was cleaning up from the party. I was just heading to my dorm after eating where I found Andy hanging out in the seating area on the first floor.

"Andy?" I asked. "Hi, you didn't answer your calls."

"Were you going to tell me or just pretend it never happened?" He asked.

I frowned in confusion. "What are you talking about?"

"Bob told me he saw you get into a sports car with another guy," Andy said.

"Oh, no, that was just Frank, he was giving me a ride to the dorms because I was drunk," I said. "Funny story, for some reason I thought his name was Joe and--"

"Shut up," he interrupted. "You think he's better than me because he has a sports car, right?"

"What? No, he isn't better than you," I denied.

"So, you want to break up with me?" He asked.

"N-no, Andy, I don't, I love you," I said. "He doesn't mean anything, I-I barely know him."

"I guess I'm just not good enough for you," he said, walking out.

My lip quivered as I followed him outside.

"Please, no, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do it," I said. "I-it's my fault, I was drunk and stupid and shouldn't have gotten into his car. You're perfect, Andy. I was being stupid. Please forgive me, I'm sorry."

I grabbed his hand to stop him and he turned, slapping me across the face. I whimpered as I held my cheek.

"I'm sorry," I mumbled as I looked down.

"Hey!" Someone shouted.

I looked over at Frank and felt my stomach drop.

"I saw you hit him," he said.

"No, he didn't," I said. "He was getting something off my cheek, you probably just saw it from a weird angle."

"Hey, you're that kid who was being irritating last night," Andy said.

"And you're the a-hole boyfriend who was going to take advantage of him while he was drunk," Frank said. "It's a good thing I brought him back to the dorms where he was away from you."

"Oh, so you're the rich kid with the sports car?" Andy asked. "Wow, not only are you completely irritating but you're also short. How old are you? Is the sports car just to compensate for a small dick?"

Frank crossed his arms. "Do you abuse sweet boys just to feel better about yourself?"

"Hey, even Gerard said nothing happened, I didn't hit him," Andy said. "Now go away."

"I'm not leaving," Frank said.

"Frank, maybe it's better if you just go," I mumbled as I looked down.

"Don't talk to him," Andy ordered.

"You can't just tell him not to talk to somebody," Frank said.

The constant arguing was starting to stress me out more and more. Tears filled my eyes, slowly rolling down my cheeks.

"Just beat it, kid, you've upset Gee," Andy said, wrapping an arm around my shoulders.

"Oh really? I'm the one who upset him?" Frank asked.

Andy grabbed my hand, pulling me away with him. I heard footsteps as Frank ran up and shoved Andy from behind. Andy went to go hit him but I pulled him back.

"Let's just go to your dorm," Andy said.

"It's okay, Frank, I'm fine," I said.

We went up to my room and I wiped my eyes, seeing the room was empty. I turned around to Andy when he grabbed my face tight with his hand.

"You do not grab me like that again," he stated.

"Y-you're hurting me," I whimpered.

"Fucking apologize," he ordered.

"I'm sorry, I won't do it again," I said.

Andy shoved me back and I sniffled as I rubbed my jaw. He went to my mini fridge and pulled out my smoothie.

"That's my last one," I said and he looked at me. "A-and I would love for you to have it."

Andy sat on my bed as I stood in front of him.

"You know why this all happened, right?" He asked. "You should have never gotten into a car with another guy."

I nodded, looking down at my feet.

"Come on, why don't you sit next to me?" He suggested.

I sat next to him on the bed. I wanted to hold his hand but I wasn't sure if he was still upset with me or not.

"First day of classes are tomorrow, are you nervous?" He asked.

"A little," I said. "Excited you're finally a junior?"

"So happy, I'm almost done," he said.

I smiled, nodding my head.

"Oh, come here, Babe," he said.

He set the drink onto the nightstand and gently wiped the tears off my cheeks.

"You love me more than Frank, right?" He asked.

"Of course I do," I said. "I barely know him."

"Good and you're not going to get to know him," he said. "You're not going to talk to him again, understand?"

I nodded and he kissed my cheek.

"That's why I love you," he said. "Did I mention how beautiful you are?"

I smiled softly, holding his hand. We heard some keys in the door and Ray opened it.

"Oh, sorry, did you two want some time alone?" He asked.

"Please," Andy said.

Ray left and Andy sighed.

"What was that sigh for?" I asked.

"I know Ray is your friend and all but he's just annoying," he said.

"Why?" I asked.

"He's asexual," he said.

"Okay?" I asked.

"That's just annoying," he said. "Like, I hate when people just make things up to try to include themselves into a community. There is no such thing as asexuality or pansexuality. Trans people just want to be gay without admitting it and bisexuals are just confused."

"But I'm bi," I said.

"You're not though, Babe," he said. "It's okay to admit that you're gay. That's all there is, gays and lesbians."

"But--"

"God, if you're gonna keep being as annoying as your friend then I'm going to leave," he said.

I didn't say anything as I looked down.

"It just hurts my feelings when you say things that invalidate me," I mumbled.

"That's just you being over emotional," he said. "You're too sensitive. I'm gonna go, I told Bob I would help him out with his girlfriend."

"His girlfriend?" I asked.

"Yeah, I'm helping him plan this super romantic date," he said.

"What about us?" I asked. "We should go on a super romantic date. We haven't done that in a while."

"Well, remember what happened the last time we went on a date?" He asked. "That guy was checking you out."

"That wasn't my fault," I said.

"Well, maybe if you didn't dress like such a slut all the time then that wouldn't have happened," Andy said.

He stood up, grabbing his smoothie.

"Can I have thirty bucks?" He asked.

"I don't have that much money, the store just opened back up recently and I've only gotten one paycheck," I said.

"You've always been bad at handling money anyways, it's better that I just hold onto it for you," he said.

I didn't say anything but Andy didn't wait before grabbing my wallet and taking a fifty dollar bill. He left the room, making me feel lonely as I pulled my knees up to my chest.

I got up and fixed my bed spread. I looked at the full length mirror I had leaning up against the wall. Did I really dress that bad? Being hungover I didn't bother getting too dressed up, I was just wearing sweatpants and a hoodie. But maybe other times I do dress more slutty. Maybe I should start being careful about what I wear.

I went down the hall to the bathroom. I used the toilet before heading downstairs. I sent a text to Ray telling him that we were done using the room before I went over to my studio. Lindsey was there, smiling happily.

"What are you all happy about?" I asked.

"I'm just having a good day," she said.

I sat at my desk and sighed. The studio was a small room for graphic design students in my year. There wasn't many of us since this wasn't a big art school. There were eight drafting tables in a rectangle, one for each student with an extra for the professor. It was only our studio for the entire year, we could come here whenever we wanted to practice or just hang out. There was a lock on the door where we had to swipe our IDs to get in, this way we can keep our laptops, drawing pads and art supplies here without worry of them getting stolen.

"You alright?" Lindsey asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I said. "It's nothing, I lost a pair of shoes at a party last night so I'm just disappointed."

"Oh, that's too bad," she said. "At least you're working at the school store so maybe you'll be able to get a new pair."

I nodded, running a hand through my black hair.

"Has it just been you here?" I asked.

"Bert was here too but he went to go grab us some coffees," she said.

I nodded, turning on my laptop. I browsed the internet for a little bit when the door opened. Bert came and sat at his desk after giving Lindsey a coffee.

"Hey, Gerard, funny how we didn't run into each other while setting the studio up," he said. "How have you been? How was your summer?"

"It was pretty uneventful, I won't lie," I said. "Just a lot of staying at home hanging out with my brother, Mikey."

"Oh, hey, he's going to school here now, right?" Bert said. "I remember you telling me that last year, this is like your family's school or whatever. Not that you own the school, it's just tradition for your family to go here."

"Yeah, I do, my brother does, my parents did, my dad's dad did and my dad's dad's dad," I said. "All up to five dads."

"That's cool that your family has a cool tradition," he said.

I shrugged, looking back at my laptop.

"You alright?" Bert asked.

"He's upset because he lost his shoes at a party last night," Lindsey said.

"That frat party?" He asked. "Those things can be dangerous. Just be careful while you're there."

"Thanks, Bert," I said. "It's okay, my boyfriend is in the frat and he's always looking out for me."

"Oh, that's good," he said.

I spent most of the rest of the day on my laptop and texting Andy, but Andy never answered any of those texts.

How will Gerard's first day go? What'll happen?
