Chapter 1
Over the past four years, this had become a routine. I was currently seated on the bleachers watching the boys' soccer team practice for their game 2 weeks from now. I never tired watching the sport. When people asked, I told them I was watching my brother play. He was the one with the black hair and blue eyes, identical to my own. We were twins, after all. In reality, I was just watching what I couldn't have. This sport was the very reason behind the small rift in my family. My twin brother was the golden child, being the captain of the team and academically inclined as well. His every step was either worshipped, or he inspired jealousy that he brushed off with ease. I lived in his shadow, with equally well off grades but no talent in sports. It was what distinguished us between perfect and nerd, cool and dorky in this school. In my parents' eyes, it was what distinguished us as prodigy and average. I couldn't blame them and over the years, I'd become more than content being just Ace Coleman's twin brother.
My dear brother was currently weaving between players like he'd been born for the purpose. His coach sat in front of me and I caught his remark. "Oh boy that is sheer talent. He's good enough to play for the country." I couldn't help but agree. My brother was absolutely phenomenal at the sport, the very best. The realization left me with an odd sense of pride and the slightest hint of jealousy. If only I could be anywhere near as good. I fought to banish the thought from my head.
To be fair, however, I'd never tried my hand in sports. Unlike my brother to whom academics came easily, I had to push myself. I had little time to devote to extracurricular activities. Also, a part of me had accepted long ago that I would never be as good as he was. He would shine like a beacon and I'd be cast in his shade. It was how the two of us would always work.
A small commotion on the field broke my trail of thoughts. A new boy had entered the field. Clad in worn down jeans and a fitted t-shirt that clung to his muscle, he fit right in. He looked almost predatory as he surveyed the soccer team with narrowed eyes. They were narrowed green eyes, I realized on closer inspection. They were striking, to say the least, and I couldn't tear my eyes away. By the confidence in his gaze, I could tell he belonged on the field. Perhaps my brother's dominance over the soccer team was about to change. As if in answer, a gust of wind blew over the field. I suppose change was on the way.
A new book and a new chapter of a completely different genre I've wanted to try my hand at for quite some time. So behold my very first BxB story. It's short, sweet and I hope you enjoy it.
The main characters are pretty much all introduced within the first chapter itself so you can leave your first impressions of them below in the comments. In case you didn't realize since it wasn't explicit, the story is narrated by Darius Coleman and the green-eyed boy is none other than Damon Stone. Tell me what you think of them below and don't forget to press the little star if you liked this chapter.
I'll be updating this story on a weekly basis so until next week...
