Walking on the streets of California, I passed so many shops and people. I make sure I twisten up a little and expect calls from all zones.

  Phone Beeps
I slide my phone out of my pocket and put up the screen. I got 21 messages and 10 notifications!

Oh crap!

  First, it's chloe.

"Hey girl! The boys and girls want to go to the restaurant. I mean, seriously Stace, Maria and Max are really growing in a romantic manner. Do you know that they were talking and watching TV so late and they slept on each other. Maria slept with her head on Max's shoulder and Max's head on her head. Sent you the pic. What about you and Alex, haven't heard from Alex. I'll call him later, take care!"

I recall the first time Maria met Max. They just were shy and unreasonable then.
No offense but, I think Max is the one for Maria. No doubt.

  My head is high up as I sit on a city bench and read the messages and notifications.

The last one caught my attention though.

My Mum!

It's been nine months since I talked to my mum! I'm such a sick and terrible daughter.

  I quickly dialed her number and she picks up.

'Hello? Mum!'
'Oh! My baby girl! It's so good to hear your voice again from the other side'

  I laugh like a little girl indeed.

'How's California?'
'We're doing great! You?'

'Can't imagine such happiness!'

I laughed with my mum out loud.

'How's Zee and the rest?'
'They're fine mum'

  'Oh! Sweetie, I saw a picture of you and a guy on twitter, is that someone you're dating?'

WHAT!!!!!!!

'I and a guy? Where?'

'In a restaurant. He's Name is Alek... Alejandro... A-'

'Alex. Mum, it's Alex'

'Oh dear, sounds handsome to me'

I physically rolled my eyes because it's not video call. Had it been it is, I would have been dead by now.

  'Why are you guys not taking the relationship to next level?'

'No mum, we are just friends. Nothing more or less'

'Friends? Sounds like lovers to me'

My mum have been on my neck ever since I entered the university that I should look for someone to get married to.

Speaking of the university, I totally forgot my classes!

  How can I forget such a thing. I need to take online classes! This instant!

  'Hello? Honey are you there?'

Oh no! I placed my mum in suspense!

'Yeah mum! I'm here!'

  'Oh! So when are you coming home?'

  'I still got twenty two days to stay here'

'For the rest of the month! Honey, isn't that too much? Mexico is here you know'

'I know mum, it's just...'

I really don't know what to say.

  'Cut it a little bit shorter. Say ten days'

I sigh. I have nothing else to say than to yell a loud "Yes".

'I'll try to talk to the manager of the trip'

'Please do. I wanna see my baby at least before next year'

'Mum, it's been only nine months' I rolled my eyes.

'Nine Long months, don't forget that "Long" she said stressing the 'Long'.

'Sure do, Mum. Talk to you later'

'Byeee! My baby girl!'

We both laugh as I hung up.

  Fifteen missed calls!

Wow!

  It's Alex!

I quickly dial his line.

'Hello?'

'Alex! Are you okay?!'

'Umm... Yeah, why do you ask?'

I then realized what I just said and did.

  'Umm... Sorry, I just saw your missed calls. I thought something happened...'

  He laugh hard on the phone and I feel embarrassed. So embarrassed.

  I quickly hanged up on him.

Maybe I was too fast to say anything that may seem I am concerned about him. Cause, it really feels like it.

  Not up to a minute, he called again.

I don't want to pick the call, muting it would be better.

He makes me feel like my concern isn't anything. And I am just wasting my time.

  I bent my head slightly and exhaled deeply trying to let go of what happened a few days ago and recalling how I really got here.

   'Hmmm' was all I could hum as I saw nothing but darkness.

I felt someone nudge me from side to side. I fell asleep on a city bench?!

So stupid of me!

  I raised my head to see Alex standing before me.

  His face with a slight glint of concern.

  I released my head and bent again groaning seeing his face.

'What do you want?'

He seems perplexed. I still didn't raise my head.

  'I came to check on you'

  'Well you've seen me, so what?'

He sat on the bench.

'I'm sorry, ok?'

My head raise slowly to look at him.

Alex P.O.V

  She looked at me in disgust and a faded what-so look.

  'What did you do that you're apologizing?'

  'Laughing?' I said in the "you already know" manner.

'I'm sorry for laughing when I shouldn't have. I know it makes you feel like I am taking your concern for granted. But, I also wanted to tell you something serious...'

Her eyebrows raised up and she looked at me as she sat upright.

'I'm all ears'

I sigh. Maybe she already knows.

  'There's a picture of us on twitter eating from the same plate' I blurt out.

She gulped and stared ahead and the look on her face signifies she already knows.

'I know. My mum told me some minutes ago. Who did it?'

  'I don't know. All I know is that it's not just on twitter, it's also on facebook, insta, snapchat and all other webs you can think of...'

I enlarged a picture on the screen of my phone and gave it to her.

Her eyes widened as if with Joy, but she kept the face stern.

  'What are we gonna do now?' she asked handing my phone back to me.

  'What do you expect us to do?'

'What we always do' I said and smiled and she smiled too, uncertain of what I'm even saying.
