RINGGGGGGG

"It seems like that's it for today! See you all tomorrow" The teacher grinned grabbing his briefcase before strutting out the room allowing the students to see themselves out the school. Will sighed, he was tired, not used to wearing a uniform while at school feeling as though the tie was strangling him. He threw his blazer over his shoulders grabbing his bag from the locker.

"Hey Byers!" James smiled slapping a hand on his back. Will scrunched his eyes not wanting to talk to his 'friends' right now "Yes?" He struggled to sound polite.

"Do you want to go to McDonalds?" Troy added

"Oh geez! I would love to guys but I'm busy" The brunette quickly apologised insincerely, not wanting to be with these two boys any longer than needed. He cast one last smile before briskly pacing out "See you tomorrow" He waved

Making his way to the courtyard a thought crossed his mind "Wait... I don't know where my home is!" Will panicked clutching the straps of his backpack. where exactly was he supposed to go? Would he just sleep outside today? He just wanted to go back to his real home hanging his head low but from the corner of his eye he spotted El "If we are step siblings in this comic- then she'll know where we live" He pondered muttering under his breath running over.

"Hey El!" He shouted

"H-hey" She turned around tightening the grip on the strap of her bag nervous as her brother never spoke to her in school.

"D-do you wanna go home together?" Will asked

"What?" Her eyes widened, was this a practical joke? Was she being recorded? A million thoughts crossed her mind

"I thought we could maybe take the bus together, you know" The brunette explained albeit not very well

Hearing his voice sincere she decided to give him a chance "Sure! But what about your car?"

"My... Car?" Will stretched his words, he has a car in this universe? In the real world he did have his driver's licence but never really drove as his mother Joyce was unable to buy a car for him on her pay check. "Oh, umm that's what I meant! I could drive you home!"

"What? Really? But you never let anyone in your car" Now El was really confused, why would her brother do this? It didn't make sense. if there was one thing she knew about her step-brother; it's that he loved that car and never made a joke to let anyone inside.

"Oh umm.... I wanted some company" He lied nervously scratching the back of his neck

"Oh! Are you sure?" She quietly questioned still sceptical. Will nodded leading the girl to the parking lot; admittedly he didn't even know which car was his so he had to make some assumptions coming up with the idea of using the car keys to unlock the doors seeing which car lit up. Scanning the area, he saw a white car that El made her way toward happily skipping over.

Yes, he found the right car, excitedly strolling toward it never being in a car like this before. He sat in the driving seat allowing the doe-eyed girl to sit in the passenger's seat admiring it just as much as he was. Turning the key into the ignition, he passed his phone to El asking her to put the GPS on; she was confused as her step-brother supposably made this commute every day. But she pushed those thoughts away deciding not to ask any questions. Shrugging her shoulders, she punched the address into it placing it onto the phone holder. Will nodded reversing out the parking lot carefully, not trying to scratch the car. It was his first time in a car of this calibre and he planned on not scuffing it up

"Umm thanks anyway" El giggled

"Oh, it's nothing! I'm happy to drive you" The brunette replied, happy to spend time with the girl from the comic he admired so much as he saw so much of himself in her

"Hehe! At least I'll get home before 5:00 today" She excitedly punched her fists in the air

"What? How long are you on the bus for?" Will furrowed his brows keeping both eyes on the road

"I take like two busses normally but the waiting is what takes so long" El explained

"And you do that every day?" He was shocked to say the least, it took her almost two hours to get home for a drive that only took forty minutes.

"Yeah! There and back!" She sadly chuckled looking out the window

"Am I really that bad to her?" He whispered under his breath. He knew that it wasn't really him rather the character he was dropped in as, but it still hurt him feeling responsible for something he hadn't done. "Let's go to and from school together from now on"

"What? Like every day?" El flipped her head around

"Yep! You're my sister" Will showed a toothy grin

"Umm, yeah! Yeah!" She smiled turning her attention out the window again covering her mouth with her hand. She was extremely excited yet didn't want it to be seen on her face. Hoping this is how her relationship with her step brother could always be like.

---- Tuesday 8:10 AM ----

Will now sat in his first lesson of the day bringing El with him. They barged into the class joined at the hip laughing and joking; exchanging stories. The rest of the class turned their head including Dustin who stared at them as Max watched El intently, A smile grew on her face, but as quickly as it came, she wiped it away.

Will hoped the moment his eyes closed to go to sleep he would wake up back in the real world, the place he came from. He was missing his mother even if he had only been away a day, for a child who depended singlehandedly on his mum, he really wanted her right now. He stood at the back with El, both chatting away as time ticked by

"You! I need to talk to you" Mike announced pointing at the boy walking away. Will gulped feeling the lump in his throat build up; to say he was scared of Mike would be an understatement. The brunette excused himself, silently following Mike out the room down the hallway.

"I don't know what you're doing, but stop bothering El" The ravenette blurted

"I'm not! I'm just trying to be close to my step-sister! Am I not allowed?" Will retorted

"See that's where I know your lying; you think you could make everything better after a few apologies? You've hated her ever since the 3rd grade" Mike explained running a hand through his raven hair

"T-that's not true! I-I..." Will felt lost for words, he knew that in the canonical story Will hated El with a vengeance wanting to do anything if it meant this sister would be upset. He understood how Mike would be sketchy of his intentions but how could he explain it to him? what would he even say if Will turned up saying 'Oh hey Mike! I'm actually not the same Will that you think I am and also, we're all in a comic book'? Yeah, great idea, he sighed placing a hand on his head.

"See! You can't even explain yourself" Mike mumbled brushing shoulders harshly, stomping pass to the class room.

"WOW! I'm just trying to be nice but apparently, I can't do that these days?" Will ranted screaming into the abyss in the direction the ravenette went but he was too far away to be heard. "Haven't you ever heard of someone changing? That jerk!" he raised his fist but remained unthreatening as students just passed him by, pointing out this strange behaviour.

"You really shouldn't be screaming in the hallway" A boy called out from behind him. Will jumped turning around "Oh fuck!" He whispered, seeing Lucas in front of him. Being his old comic crush Will still found him extremely attractive

"So, what's wrong this morning? Did you have a fight with El again? If you keep bothering her, I'll have to get the teachers involved" Lucas rationally came to a conclusion, his voice firm.

"No one takes my side" Will pouted "I was just trying to be nice to my sister and then Mike came out of nowhere, because apparently whatever I do he needs to find something wrong with it!" He rambled tripping over his words, Lucas looked over at him softly smiling as he chuckled

"Are you laughing at me?" Will furrowed his brows

"No!" He smiled "I hope you're telling the truth; I'll believe it this time! Just don't get in Mike's way... he can get protective of El" Lucas explained placing a hand on the shoulder of the small boy walking off, Will blushed.

"Ahh! He's sweet, smart and attractive! It's not fair" The brunette pouted hearing the bell ring, "Shit!" causing him to run to his class.
