With all the wonderful things we have learned about the Holy Spirit so far, I believe that God is helping us cultivate our relationship with the Holy Spirit.

-Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live.

Romans 8:12-13 NLT

 The Holy Spirit helps us to crucify the deeds of the flesh

We all know that we have a flesh and a spirit. But the real person is the spirit. The body is just our package. The spirit is the real person. The bible above says, "you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do."

This is a part that is a bit tricky. The flesh has urges as the bible says. But we have no obligation to commit ourselves to those urges. The next verse gives us a reason. It says, "If you live by its dictates, you will die." Commitment to flesh brings spiritual death. Then it says, "But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live."

 
The word God shows us that it is impossible to live in the Spirit without His power.
 Our efforts cannot crucify the flesh. Only the power of God through the Holy Spirit. Or maybe you are wondering what the flesh looks like? What is it about the flesh that is so bad?
Let's look at a portion of scripture.

-When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
Galatians 5:19-21 NLT

We don't have to mention all of them. But we see the manifestation of the flesh. If those things are a problem to us, we need the power of the Holy Spirit to subdue them.

 
-Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.
Galatians 5:24 NLT

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires. The only way to live above our sinful desires is to live in the spirit. This happens every time we crucify the flesh. We cannot kill the flesh. But we can crucify the flesh and subdue its power by the Holy Spirit living in us.This is great news to us! Let's become believers who fully depend on the Holy Spirit. Without Him, we are literally nothing.

Remember the very first lesson we learned? Well, just to remind you. We learned that the Holy Spirit is the One who beautifies the Earth. If He beautifies the earth, it also means that He is the One who beautifies us.
