2Day One

@CastielNovak Thank you to everyone who came out last night. I was not there much but it appeared to be fun.

A loud dinging sound woke up Castiel. He groaned loudly, shutting his eyes tighter as if it would make the sound go away.

Slowly, Castiel untangled his body from his duvet and reached towards his phone. He squinted at the brightness before seeing the name Charlie light up his screen. The time read 09:30. He used his pointer finger to click the green button before bringing the phone to his ear. "Hello?"

"Castiel!!!" she screamed, making him scrunch his nose and pull his hand away.

"Charlie, what was that for?"

She huffed proudly, "Gabe has a class in an hour and knowing your dumbass, I knew you weren't gonna be awake for it. So I made precautionary measures. You're going to meet me in half an hour at H/P, I'm buying you breakfast, and we're gonna go set up."

He sighed. He knew there was no backing out of it so he responded, "Fine. I will see you then," and promptly hung up.

He groaned again, throwing his legs over the bed. He quickly opened the curtains and hopped in the shower. Once he got out, he dressed. His outfit choice contained black trousers, dress shoes, a white undershirt, a blue tie - which Charlie said matched his eyes, the black suit jacket, and his normal beige trenchcoat. He gelled his hair to perfection and brushed his teeth, checking himself out in the mirror. I do not have time to shave today, he thought as he ran a hand across the stubble adorning his face. I will just do it later.

Before exiting the bathroom, he grasped his scentblockers and rubbed it over his neck gently.

Castiel ran down the steps, swiped his keys off the half wall next to his door, and walked out. He was almost to his car before he stopped, sighing to himself, and then turned around to lock his front door. He then started up his '78 Lincoln Continental Mark V and left, driving off towards his studio.

He walked through the revolving door inside and made his way to the back room. Charlie sat there wearing a nice gray and red flannel with jeans. Her beta scent slightly filled the room. When she made eye contact with him, she couldn't help but gasp.

"Castiel, what are you wearing?"

He looked down at himself. "Clothes."

She sighed heavily, putting her head into her palm. She shook her head in annoyance, then turned to him. "Here, I got you breakfast."

Castiel took his food from her and sat across from her, removing his food from the bag and eating it.

"I heard you ran into a whole bunch of people opening night," she said, grinning slightly.

He choked on his food and his face flushed as he thought about the scenario. Castiel wasn't exactly a 'socializer'. He preferred to stay inside stalking people on social media and painting. Going outside and being recognized was not part of his plan that night. "I stopped by to see how it was going," he sighed exasperatedly. "A few people recognized me so I ran."

Charlie laughed loudly. "You should've said hi, at least." He rolled his eyes but didn't respond.

Instead, he reached in his pocket for his phone and decided to check his Twitter.

@Royal-Plz-ImDivine @CastielNovak Stopped by Heavenly Painters last night and lemme just say the place is GORGEOUS. Not only can he paint but he's so good at interior design

The comment already had 1,978 likes and 433 retweets. He found it heartwarming because the account only had 437 followers. My fans are so sweet, he thought, as he finished his breakfast. It was small, just enough to hold him off until noon for lunch.

Castiel took his and Charlie's trash and threw it out. "I'm pulling up the stats on the class now," she called out. After a few seconds of typing, she spoke, "Okay. It's a full class so it's gonna be thirty-six of everything. I'll start by grabbing the easels and paint brushes while you start pouring the paint."

She promptly stood up and shut her laptop before putting it off to the side and out of the way. He made his way over to the closet before grabbing seventy-two plates and seven different paint colors: black, yellow, dark blue, dark green, white, purple, and brown.

He poured out a little bit of each color on half of the plates, then used the other ones to create a makeshift lid. He walked out of the closet and put one palette underneath each easel which Charlie had prepared.

After about ten minutes of running around, people started filing in. Charlie greeted them all happily and signed them in as Castiel dipped into his office for the day. Two more classes today. Yay me.

"Welcome, class!" Gabe exclaimed, using his right hand to wave at all of the adults. His eyes squinted slightly as he smiled cheekily. "So, since this is my first class, I'm gonna be trying different things to see what works best."

He stepped off the small stage and inhaled, shutting his eyes in the process. A strong Alpha scent wafted over him and his eyes shot open. "Okay, everyone," he paused, getting their attention. "Guess his name," he smiled, pointing at the tall man. He had jade green eyes with a ring of hazel encircling his pupil. Gabe had basically bent over, his face a foot from the man's, and was closely inspecting him. His long brown hair was parted down the center and the man laughed awkwardly, leaning back slightly.

"Sam-"

"Moose." The thirty-four people who said 'Sam' all turned towards the one outlier. "What? He's a moose! He's brown and super tall!" the smaller man uttered suddenly. He had a receding hairline, chocolate brown eyes, and had a very round face. He had a light goatee on his chin.

Gabe laughed. "I kinda forgot you all know each other," he said, standing up, away from Sam, "so let's just all forget about that." He hopped up on stage and reached in between the two easels. One held a blank canvas and the other held a completed painting of an owl standing upon a book. (A/N the painting is the one attached and ignore my tag.) "I'm Gabe!" He grabbed a lollipop from the stand in between the easels and popped it in his mouth after discarding the wrapper.

He looked around at the huge class and sighed nervously. He didn't like to admit it, but he used humor to cover for the fact that he was terrified of public speaking. It's only a two hour class, you can do this Gabriel.

Throughout the class, Gabe cracked a few jokes and made everyone burst out in laughter. Someone even fell out of their chair at one point.

He glanced down at his watch and up at the previously blank surface, proud of his work. He looked towards the class. "Okay, class, that's the end of the two hours. You all are welcome to stay as long as you need. But, if you need a lot longer, remember that we host classes once a month dedicated to fixing large errors or just more time to work on your painting. We're going to be taking a picture in a few minutes. And don't forget to sign your artwork!"

He hopped off stage and grabbed a silver sharpie from the bin of assorted sharpies and ran back. He quickly scribbled 'GN' on the top left corner. After taking the picture, he got down to walk around the class. He had learned everyone's name throughout the two hour time frame.

He walked past them and gave each painting a compliment. That was, until he got to Sam's. Gabe giggled slightly but immediately stopped when Sam faced him. He smirked and said, "It's good."

Sam groaned, "It looks like.. like a.. I have no clue what this looks like! It looks like someone tried to glue feathers on a rat." Gabe laughed loudly and slapped his hand on Sam's shoulder.

"Nah, it just needs some work. Come to more classes and we can help you."

Barry, Sam's best friend who invited him to the class, spoke up next. "Why, so you can milk him for his money?"

Gabe pulled his lollipop out of his mouth while sucking, creating a popping sound. "Nope! I'm just tryna offer advice. You don't have to take it."

He went to walk off but was stopped by a hand on his bicep. He turned around and looked up, seeing Sam tower over him. He was easily half a foot taller than Gabe. "Hey, can you send me the class photo?"

Gabe knew that it would be uploaded on Twitter after everyone left but he couldn't help nodding. He reached in his pocket and pulled out his phone, "What's your number?"

Sam took Gabe's phone and typed his number in the empty box before handing the phone back. Gabe was never speechless before and it took him a second to get his brain to work enough to push send on the photo. "Hey, do you guys host birthday parties?"

Gabe nodded. "Well, we plan to. Why?"

"I wanted to have my birthday party here. It's not for a few weeks - May 2nd - but I was considering having it here."

He nearly couldn't contain his smile at the thought of seeing him again. "Yeah, just go up front and Charlie can help you set it up." Sam smiled before picking up his painting and walking away, Barry closely following behind.

"Thank God, that sexual tension was so awkward," Barry muttered, causing Sam to turn around and give him a quick death glare. Gabe laughed before making his way up on stage to clean.

Castiel left his office after seeing everyone had left. Some guys decided to hang around afterward to talk to Gabe. He seemed super happy and seemed more focused on the tall one. Gabe, I know you are pan but you do not have to make it blatantly obvious.

Castiel sighed as he pocketed his wallet and keys. He walked out of the building and took in a breath, only to get overwhelmed by the smell of pine and spicy apples. What kind of weird forest is burning? He shrugged, taking off down the sidewalk to a little park where he could eat his lunch in peace.

When he arrived, he sat on a patch of grass and pulled a PB&J sandwich out of his brown paper bag. He munched on it while thinking of the past few weeks.

Castiel and his gigantic family - his dad, him, his older brother Lucifer and his boyfriend Michael, his younger sister Anna, his younger brother Gabriel, and his older brother Raphael - moved into a five bedroom house with a bathroom connected to each room. It was odd, but he liked his own bathroom.

Kids were throwing a frisbee back and forth. Bees and butterflies flew by him and the sun warmed his skin. He smiled as he finished his sandwich and threw out the trash. He scrolled through Twitter and favorited a few of his mentions. He was smiling the whole way back to the studio, finally seeing his shitty life starting to get better day by day.

Is this a good chapter length? Should it be longer? Shorter? Lmk!
