Chapter 3

-Emma Pov-

As I stand on the airship, I hum to myself, as I look out the window. Although, I do sigh and then tap my foot. I do love flying normally, but at the same time I wish it was faster. Being a dove faunas meant I could fly easily, and faster than the ship. It may be tiring, but it I loved flying, and being free, and feeling the wind on my face and skin, and rustling through my wings. Flying was something I loved, and it made me feel so safe. Still, the view was nice and since I didn't need to spend energy on flying, I could really admire the view with a smile on my face.

However, as I stood looking out the window, I heard the murmuring of people as they pointed to my dove wings. I did my best to hide them when I was with crowds, but it was difficult for me to hold them for a long time, and I didn't want them to accept me just because they thought I was a human. I would rather they hated me for being who I was, rather than like me for some facade. A long time ago, I had made peace with the discrimination that would come with being a faunas. I didn't like it, and wanted to change it but I knew lashing out was exactly what they would expect.

Still, it got more and more irritating for me to deal with, but I just ignored it the best that I could. I began to hum a song to myself that my mother had always used to hum to me to keep me calm, and the song always worked. However, when the students began to bump into my wings, claiming it was an accident, it started to make me angrier and angrier.

When one of the students reached and then tried to pluck a feather out of my wing, I turned around and looked at him, and then my eyes widened when I saw it was Cardin. He and I had grown up in the same town together, and he had a reputation for being a bully to the faunas. " Hello Emma," he said with a smirk, and a predatory look in his eyes. I cursed mentally, and then backed away from him until I bumped into the walls of the ship.

" Leave me alone," I tell him, trying my best to gain confidence. Still, he scares me on some level. He's much physically stronger than I am, and I've never been a fighter, rather a healer and support. He keeps walking towards me, and then I curse more mentally. He reaches out to pluck another feather from my wing, however before he can a hand stops him. He and I both look over to see the source of the hand, and then I let out a sigh in relief when I see a woman in armor, with a sword in her hand.

" Who are you supposed to be," asked Cardin irritated, and then he tried to shake her hand off of him. To my surprise, as well as Cardin's, he couldn't get her hand to budge. I saw him growing irritated like this, and then he reached for his mace. " Why are you even standing up for the faunas like her?" The woman rolls her eyes, and then kicks him in the balls. Cardin doubles over in pain and then she kicks him in the knee.

" Leave," she commands him. I see Cardin think about it for a few more moments, and then in the end, he limps away quickly, and goes over to a group of three other people. All of them start to give him a hard time, and then he banters with them for a little bit, and then walks out of sight, giving a glare at me one more time as he goes. The woman rolls her eyes at him, and then turns to me. " Sorry about him. I don't know him, but I can imagine it gets old to have to deal with. I wish people were more tolerant about faunas."

I smile at her, and then let out a sigh of relief at this, happy to have met another human who likes the faunas, and is tolerant of them. " Thank you so much for helping me out back there. It really means a lot for me to meet people like you," I tell her, and then she nods and then smiles. I hold out a hand for her. " I'm Emma, Emma Waters." She smiles, and then shakes my hand. I notice how strong of a grip she has, and it makes me smile, and I have to admit this woman is beautiful.

" My name is Alesha Kolaghan," she says, and then I nod. It will be easy for me to remember her name, since I've always been good with learning names, and hers is memorable, and different from the usual ones I hear. " Why did you choose to become a huntress," she asks, rattling me from my thoughts.

" Well, my parents were both huntsman. I always wanted to be like them, especially my mother who was my hero when I was a kid. And then, I love helping people, healing them and making them feel better. I don't like to fight, but I just want to extend the reach of people who I can help," I tell her, and then she smiles. " What about you?"

Alesha sighs when I ask this, and then freezes for a little bit. I'm about to tell her she doesn't have to answer, and then she sighs when I do. " I didn't want to become a huntress. Not at first. I make weapons, and I wanted to be a blacksmith. But when my sister passed away, she asked me to keep her dream alive. And so, I decided to join Beacon to keep her dream alive."

" Sorry to hear that," I tell her, and then she sighs and shakes her head. I choose not to say anything, and so the two of us go back to looking out the window together, and I can't help but feel happy that I've made a friend so early in my journey.

-Hercules Pov-

I smile when I stand on the bullhead, surrounded as usual by my mob of fans. Each of them bombard me with questions, and some of them even admit they only came to Beacon since they knew I had chosen to apply for this academy, which makes me happy. It does make me feel genuinely good when I help people make a big life choice.

As I talk to them, I notice the sound of squealing, and then I look over to see a girl with short orange hair, standing with someone with black hair except for one pink streak. The girl starts trying to run over for me, and then the boy sighs and grabs onto her, trying to hold her back. I chuckle mentally to myself, and then I notice the girl breaking free, and making her way into the crowd, quickly getting lost in it.

Shrugging, I go back to talking with the crowd. Before I can, I hear a loud and female voice coming from in the crowd. " Move or I'll break your legs!" Looking around, I then see the girl with orange hair yelling as the boy with her sighs and tries to control her to no avail. The rest of the crowd all disperses quickly, and then the girl and boy make her way over to me, and I look at the two of them with a little bit of confusion. The boy seems tired, like this has happened before, while the girl has a big smile on her face.

" I'm so sorry about her," says the boy, and then I look up at him. " She's a fan of yours, and wanted to get a chance to talk with you alone, and she didn't want to have to get through the rest of the crowd." I nod at this, used to having passionate fans, although I will say this was the first time I met someone who was willing to break bones just to get to talk to me a little easier.

" Well, I'd never say no to meeting my fans," I tell them with a smile, and then I pull out two pictures of myself, and sign the both of them quickly. I hand them to the boy and a girl, but the boy holds out a hand to politely decline, and then the girl snatches them both which makes me chuckle a little bit, seeing how happy she gets when she sees the autographs. No matter how many fans I have, I think this might be the happiest someone has ever looked to get an autograph from me.

" Thanks so much," says the girl as she looks at them. For a moment, she looks timid and then hands them back to me. " Do you think it would be okay if you added our names to these? It would feel a lot more personal this way." I'm about to tell her I don't normally put the names of the people on the autographs, but then she does this trick where she flutters her eyes lashes at me, and so I sigh and get my pen again. " Thanks so much. I'm Nora, and this my friend Ren."

I nod, and then sign the autographs with their names, and then Nora smiles and once again holds onto the both of them with a happy smile. " I know you here this a lot, but I'm your biggest fan! I watch every one of your fights, and I always cheer for you, and want you to win. You're the reason I use a hammer as a weapon, and I wanna be just as strong as you one day!" She talks quickly, but I manage to keep up with her words, and then I chuckle at this, and then it makes me smile.

" Well, then I'm glad that I was able to make a difference in your life," I tell her, and then she nods happily.

" Let's arm wrestle," says Nora with a big smile, and then she dashes over to somewhere and puts her arm down on the table. She gestures happily for me to come over, and then I sigh and walk over. As much as I love meeting fans, the ones who ask me to engage in a test of strength, which I always win. It may not take a long time for me to win, but it still isn't always how I enjoy spending my time.

Still, she has so much energy that it's hard for me to say no, and then I sit down across from her, and then hold her arm. Ren sighs and then Nora tells him to be the referee, threatening to break his legs, and so he nods and then starts the arm wrestle. To my surprise, she actually manages to match me in terms of strength, and is able to keep up with me. " You're as strong as I thought you would be," Nora says happily as she keeps trying to win.

" Stronger than you look," I admit to her, and then we keep going. Ren actually looks interested in this, and then we keep on arm wrestling, and I find myself enjoying this. Sadly, before we can find a winner, the ship lands. Nora sighs at this, knowing we have to get off the ship, and then she lets go of my hands.

" I hope I get to see you around," she says smiling, and then she reaches out to touch my nose. " Boop." She then grabs onto Ren, and dashes out the ship with him happily. Chuckling, I stand up and then follow her, happier now than ever to go to Beacon.

-Zion Pov-

I sit by the window of the ship, and then I read my book happily, and manage to tune out the voices of everyone else on the ship. As I turn the pages, I feel a tap on my shoulder, and then I look up to see a boy with blonde hair, white armor and a big smile. I roll my eyes at this, knowing what he's probably here for. " Can I help you with anything," I ask, doing my best to not lash out at him, remembering the rules Ozpin had set for me.

" What's your name beautiful," he asks, doing the best he can to flirt. I sigh mentally, and then do the best I can to keep reminding myself that I'm here because it's either this or prison, and that this is also at least in part for my little brother. I just don't say anything to him, and then I try to go back to reading. " My name is Jaune Arc. Rolls of the tongue, short sweet and the ladies love it."

I don't say anything, and then he sighs and sits down next to me. " Shy huh," he asks. " That's cool, that's cool." He stutters for a few moments, trying to figure something out, and then I roll my eyes at this. If he was going to flirt with me, he could at least be able to put together complete sentences. " Uh, let's see. You're so beautiful I wrote a poem for you. Uh, roses are red, violets are blue....let's hang out?"

A small piece of me dies with his poem, and then I wince inwardly. " No," I tell him, but he doesn't leave, or even stand up to leave, which makes me irritated. He looks like one of those boys who wants something they can't have, and like the rejection makes his interest in me even stronger. I look up to the sky, begging for something, anything to happen that makes him leave.

" Oh, I know," he says, reaching for a guitar, and then I sigh inwardly. Before he can get his guitar, I hear someone clear their throat, and then I look up to see a woman with black hair, and white clothing. I pray to myself that she knows I want him to leave, and then Jaune turns to look at her.

" Hey beautiful," he says, and then the new woman glares at her, and his eyes widen nervously, and then he runs off. I chuckle a little bit at this, and then the woman walks over to me with a small and kind smile.

" Thank you so much for that," I say, and then she chuckles and sits down next to me, and reads the cover of the book I'm reading.

" No problem. I know how it feels when some idiot tries to hit on me," she says, and then she pulls out a cigarette and lights it. I look over at her, and then she looks up at me staring at the cigarette. " Please don't tell me you're one of those people who hates smokers."

I chuckle a little when she asks this, and then I pull out a cigarette and light it and smoke it happily. " What is your name," she asks, and then I look up at her. " My name is Kydele Vess. But, you can just call me Kay." I nod when she says this, and then take the cigarette out of my mouth for a little.

" Zion Helsing," I introduce, and then she nods and the two of us go back to smoking together in silence, which then becomes awkward after a little bit, even for my sake. " Wanna play one of my favorite games to play on long trips?" Kay looks at me curiously. " We look around at everyone on the ship, and then make fun of all of them one by one."

" Now there's a game I can get behind," says Kay happily, as the two of us start to look around the ship together, and then find people and then start making fun of them, making each other laugh with our dark humor, and our similar way of thinking. Eventually, the ship then lands and the doors open, and the two of us stand up.

" This was fun. I needed that," says Kay, and then she walks in front of me. " I'll see you around," she says, walking off without me. Chuckling to myself, I think to myself that this might not be so bad to go to Beacon after all, as long as I get to know more people like her.

-Jason Pov-

I stand with both Ruby and Yang, and then listen to them as Yang tries to assure Ruby that she's ready to go to Beacon early, every so often trying to get me to say something, and then I roll my eyes at this every time. " Is something wrong Jason," asks Ruby, looking at me concerned. " You haven't said anything since we got on the airship to go to Beacon."

When I still don't do anything, Yang snaps her fingers. " I know what it is Rubes," she says, and then both Ruby and I look at her curious. " He misses Kitty!" I roll my eyes when she says this, and then I go back to looking out the window.

" I don't miss Kitty," I tell them, and then Yang smirks and then keeps trying to get me to admit that I do have feelings for Kitty, which makes me roll my eyes. She's my childhood friend, it doesn't mean it needs to become romance. Still, I can't help but think about how she had kissed me on the cheek before I had left, and that made me feel a little happy.

Eventually, the ship lands and we all step off one by one, and then I sigh in relief when Yang dashes in front of us to meet up with some of her friends. I walk with Ruby, and she looks like she has something she wants to say. " If you do like Kitty, there's nothing wrong with that," she says, and then I look down at her.

Ruby opens her mouth to say something else, and then we bump into someone, and then I look down to see a girl with blue eyes, white hair and a scar through her eye. " Weiss," I say when I see her.

" You," she says angrily when she sees me. " What are you doing here?"

" Attending Beacon. What about you? Playing dress up and using your daddies credit cards still," I ask, and then she glares angrily at me.

" We never did get to finish our fight last time," she says as she reaches for her weapon.

" I was winning," I point out, and then reach for mine.

" Winning? You're lucky your uncle showed up when he did to help you," she says, grabbing her sword.

" Funny, because I'm pretty sure your sister showed up to save you from getting beaten around," I tell her, and then the two of us enter our combat stance.

As we circle each other and start to fight, I can't help but think this is going to be an interesting year with her here.

( let me know what you thought. Kay an Alesha aren't mine, they belong to a friend @IlliaTheCreameleon who let me use his oc's for this)
