~Is that a talking hat?~
Percy's P.O.V
The half we walked into was huge. There were five tables, each decorated with different colours. Banners hung above four of the tables and the lights were floating. Strange. Stranger still, was the singing hat. (I'm not going to write it out)
"Now it's time for the sorting!" Dumbledor said.
"MAYSON, ASHLEY." The hat cried out. A young girl walked forward and put the hat on her head.
"HUFFLEPUFF!" It shrieked. "BROWN, SARAH. SLYTHERIN!
JOHNSON, KYLE. RAVENCLAW!" Soon I was the last one.
"JACKSON, PERSEUS." I walked slowly to the hat. The hall was silent. I sat down and put the hat on my head.
'Hmm. Interesting.' I heard the hat's voice in my head.
'Loyal enough to be in Hufflepuff yet smart enough to be in Ravenclaw. But you have a dark side that would do well in Slytherin. Also brave enough to be in Gryffindor. Hmm. I see your mission. It would be best if I put you in-'
"-GRYFFINDOR!" the hat shouted. I walked towards the table decorated with red and gold. I took a seat next to Ron and Ginny. Dumbledor stood up.
"As some of you may know, we have invited some guests from America to stay with us this year. Please welcome the first exchange student, Perseus Jackson." Everyone clapped politely.
"Now. Dig in!" A bunch of food appeared on the plates and people started eating. I paused, unsure if I could eat or not. I picked up a slice of pizza but thunder rumbled outside. I sighed sadly.
"What? What's the matter?" Ron asked with a mouthful of pie.
"Nothing." I muttered and stood up. I walked to the teachers table.
"Hello Perseus." Professor Dumbledor said.
"Please, call me Percy." I replied.
"Of course. What can I do for you?"
Harry's P.O.V
Who does this Percy think he is? Walking into MY school like he owns the place. He already befriended Ron and he has all the girls in school drooling over him after five minutes. But it doesn't matter because I could beat him any day. I saw something on his arm, It looked like a tattoo. That just proves it. He is a deatheater.
Ron's P.O.V
"JOHNSON, KYLE. RAVENCLAW!" The hat shrieked. Soon Percy was the last one there.
"JACKSON, PERSEUS." Percy walked to the hat, sat down and put the hat on his head. He sat there for ages. Finally the hat shouted,
"GRYFFINDOR!"
Percy took a seat next to me and Ginny. Dumbledor stood up.
"As some of you may know, we have invited some guests from America to stay with us this year. Please welcome the first exchange student, Perseus Jackson." Everyone clapped politely.
"Now. Dig in!" A bunch of food appeared on the plates and people started eating. I glanced up from the food. Percy was just staring at his plate. He picked up some food and thunder rumbled outside. Percy sighed sadly.
"What? What's wrong?" I asked.
"Nothing." Percy muttered but stood up. He walked to the teachers table and traded words with professor Dumbledor. Dumbledor nodded and flicked his wand. Percy came back and sat down. A fire appeared next to his plate and he scraped off some of his food into it. Suddenly the fire disappeared.
"What did you do that for?" I demanded.
"It's my religion." Percy said simply.
"So, what's your school like?" Hermione asked.
"It's more like a camp than a school. Our headmaster is a centaur." I replied.
"Really? A centaur? That must be amazing!" Hermione gushed. She spoke rapidly for the next ten minutes. Percy could keep up with her but Harry and I space out. Soon the feast was over. Dumbledor stood up again.
"Unfortunately the Quidditch Cup will not take place this year." He said. A chorus of 'aaaaw's' could be heard from around the hall.
"Because we are having an even bigger event." Everyone perked up at this.
"The Triwizard Tournament will be taking place this year!" Dumbledor said. The hall was in silence until people started cheering. Percy looked confused.
"This year it will only be against Hogwarts and our American counterpart, Hecates school of Magic. Of course, no one younger than seventeen is allowed to participate. Thank you everyone. Now please return to your dorms."
I got up and walked to the dorms.
"What's the Triwizard Tournament?" Percy asked.
"It's when two or more schools have a friendly competition. A champion is selected to represent each school and they must compete in three different tasks. It's very difficult and very dangerous. Just a few years ago someone died in the games." Hermione explained. Cedric came to my mind.
"Seeing as I'm old enough, I'm going to put my name in the goblet. What about you? Are you going to enter?" I asked Percy. "Naturally. I love danger." Percy said with a small smile. We finally got to the picture of the fat lady.
"Poseidon's Owl." I said and the painting swung inward. I heard laughter and turned around. Percy was laughing hysterically.
"What?" I asked.
"N-nothing." He said, wiping mirth from his eyes. I climbed through and noticed something different. There was a new door. On it was a bronze sign that said 'Guest'.
"I guess that's your room. Night Percy." I said.
"Good night." Percy said and disappeared into the door.
"He's a deatheater." Harry immediately said. Ginny, Hermione and I groaned.
"Harry. I thought we were done with that." She said.
"I'm telling the truth! I've seen the tattoo on his arm!" He protested.
"Stop being paranoid. Percy isn't a deatheater." I said, annoyed. Harry scowled darkly.
"Why don't you believe me!" He shouted and stormed off. I sighed sadly.
