. . . . . .

when it was time to get up, the couple readied themselves (and their car which hadn't been touched in such a long time) for the trip they promised to the kid.

sicheng was behind the wheel, the febreze's island fresh air freshener circulating through the vehicle's chilly interior. it matched his overall vibe as a driver in unexplainable ways. the heavy flow of the air conditioning was enough to make the collar of his loosely buttoned shirt move from side to side, but not too strong to sway his focus on the road.

on the other hand, jace was in the passenger seat, checking the socials he hadn't opened in a while thanks to the consecutively busy weeks. there he was, giggling (even occassionally replying) over the dramatic messages his growing fanbase wrote to depict how much they missed him and his boyfriend's content, screenshotting his favorites and sending them to sicheng's number with keyboard smashes for him to see later on.

the whole atmosphere was lightened up by them playing disney songs through aux.

suji, sat on the back, wanted to put the little mermaid song on loop. of course, as babysitters who were finally getting a hang of their task, they felt the need to happily satisfy all her reasonable wants, but it also meant pushing away jace's desire of playing his favorite boybands' songs.

"are we there yet?" she asked for the umpteenth time, realizing that counting cars near them and gawking at the fact that there were intersecting lines of yellow, white, and black painted on the gray road weren't enough to cure her boredom.

"patience." the one on the passenger seat shushed suji in quite a hypocritical way, knowing damn well he didn't have any of what he mentioned either.

she groaned, incoherently ranting to her seatbelted stuffed elephant about how insufferably long the trip to the park was.

the irritation subsided a few moments after. and just like every other typical kid, she asked: "do you have games on your phone though?"

jace's turned to the driver. "sicheng. give."

as the both of them wished, he pulled his phone out of its charging position once they reached a red stoplight, using his biometrics to unlock it before handing it to her, the screen already flashing his folder of gaming apps suitable for her.

"here. don't break it."

"thank you!"
