once the panic regarding suji's lateness for school died down, the couple went back to being lazily slumped on the couch with their businesses on their phones.
jace viewed johnny's instagram story, seeing him and his wife enjoy their time off in japan. he was hit with slight— no, noticeable bitterness though, mainly because they get to enjoy their workplace's given summer vacation while he gets to watch over something supposed to be their responsibility.
yes, he was still bitter over that. he could not move on at all. he says he'd rather get buried in loads of paperwork.
"look at them." sicheng was taken aback by the screen suddenly getting shoved onto his face. "bitches."
he continued, "come to think of it, they're rich enough to buy another plane ticket for the kid but they didn't and just decided to test us out of all their friend. do you think they're regretting their life decisions too?"
"mhmmmm."
"imagine if they text 'keep the kid, we won't come back to korea anymore'." jace shuddered at his own thought. "oh god, no."
he spent the next few minutes rambling about how insufferable the given task was just like how he did two days ago while his boyfriend only waved off his disinterest. at some point, sicheng decided it was enough.
"come on, we've only been with her for a day. maybe the kid won't be that bad to take care of in the long run."
"are you hearing yourself right now? no kid is tolerable at all."

"spell green."
sicheng and jace watched closely as the kid racked her brain for the answer, slightly understanding the anxiety of recitation thanks to their previous experiences with work-from-home.
"uh, g-r-i-n?"
the teacher said, "try again, suji. 'green' as in the color."
"oh!" she exclaimed, finally saying the correct answer.
currently, they were sat on the two chairs in front of her on their dining table, observing whatever was going on and also anticipating for it to end due to the voices' monotonies.
she then shot them her usual judgey stare. "why are you laughing."
they nudged each other to halt the pointless chuckles. "we're not— we're not laughing. promise. we just find you cute . . . i guess."
"but boys don't mean things they say most of the time and you both are boys! you're probably lying about laughing this time."
both were half-astonished and half-weirded out, to say the least.
"who hurt you?"
