jace was indeed pettily mad.
sicheng noticed it from the moment he exited the bathroom, earning a glare from nowhere. as funny as his boyfriend looked with the lack of joy in his expression, he couldn't bring himself to laugh.
so there they were in the one couch the house had, but to the farthest corners instead of being slumped and close to each other like normal days. they'd make harsh eye contact from time to time, then look away in a split second.
amidst their mini fight, after playing around with her stuff on the carpeted floor, suji excitedly jumped in between the pair and interrupted their snarky looks towards each other.
she then crawled towards pat sicheng's hair, giggling in satisfaction. he returned a smile. "fluffy."
the girl sat back afterwards, squinting and pointing a finger as she sensed the tension.
"are you two fighting?"
"no, we're okay." although they mutually agreed to the statement, their sulky faces said otherwise.
"no you're not." suji crossed her arms, looking like an evaluator of some sort. "you should say sorry to each other and make up! no more problems then!"
that garnered negative reactions from the both of them.
"wha— i have no faults here, okay?"
"saying sorry is still important! no matter whose fault."
after the insufferable sighs, the two decided to silently settle with scripted apologies, not even caring to look at each other. they definitely did not sign up for this. no. nor did they expect receiving a sermon regarding apologizing from a child.
"noooo, that's not right!" she exclaimed, arms still crossed. "dad said insincere apologies are like insults and only mean people throw insults! you aren't mean, are you?"
"what have you been learning, damn," jace whispered to himself in exasperation, then stood up. then and there, he grabbed her hand. "yeah, okay, let's clean you up first."
she tried pulling back as they walked away from both the sofa and sicheng. "but your sorries!"
"we'll do it later."
"later is sleep time."
"for fuck's sake, the later i'm saying is like 3pm. who sleeps at 3pm?"
their walk was temporarily halted.
she confusedly repeated, "for fuck's sake?"
his eyes widened after the realization. cursing had always been a habit he couldn't control, and now it's possibly caused slight impurification of a five-year-old's mind.
"oh my god, never say that again . . . or monsters will come for you in your sleep time later."
sicheng quietly laughed from the spot they left them in, hearing how the other's 'scare' was not even the littlest bit of scary but was already enough to convince the kid.
