Part 6. Warning

Alexander's POV
August 28,
Wednesday,
10:00 am

Me and the other two, Hercules and Lafayette as they were named, moved on from John's strange behavior, I couldn't help but wonder in my mind. Creating and erasing ideas and thoughts in the matter of seconds. I sipped my coffee every once in a while, I noticed John was calming down from his rather strange outburst. I couldn't completely understand the reason, though I assume it is because my attempts to charm him are working. I needed to have him almost always wrapped around my finger for "the plan" to happen smoothly. To be completely honest, being so affectionate to the sweet freckled boy was easy, it seemed to come naturally. I'm not sure why... It just did.

Lafayette and Hercules were chatting a bit, John joining the conversation every once in a while. I didn't bother with paying attention, they were probably talking about something rather silly and having no purpose.

I took a moment to quiet my thoughts and to instead study the new acquaintances across from me. Hercules was muscular and a large guy, he was probably an inch or two above average height. He seemed intimidating, he definitely was when he first approached me, but was actually quite an amiable fellow. He had an oddly comforting tone and aura surrounding him, it eased me from being so alarmed. The lanky man next to him was a bit different. He was thinner and taller, but he did have muscle, less than Hercules but even then it was quite noticeable. His muscular build was showing off a bit too, his sleeves tight on his skin from the strength in his arms. They would gently flex when Lafayette moved. He probably had quite the abs under that flimsy shirt. His heavy french accent soaked each and every word he said, he would stop and process the words he was looking for or he was struggling to pronounce properly. There were some moments he would speak in french either for something simple the others would understand, like mon ami, or for when he couldn't find the correct word to say. It wasn't a big deal for me (when I listened), since I was fluent in the baguette language known as french. Lafayette was easily a charming guy without effort, he was quite the "package" people would say. Nice, caring, charming, handsome, just listing off some things. Of course he would have his flaws, everyone does, but I can't tell what yet.

I stopped analyzing the two on the other side of the table, noticing that John was glancing at me, he had admiration in his eyes and a light blush across his expression, per usual. His smile was real and not a forced smile to hide any pain or true emotion. His gaze was gentle, hiding the fact that he was staring. I was staring.

I was staring.
SHIT I WAS STARING.

I quickly looked away when I realized my gaze was stuck on the turtle boy. Lafayette and Hercules seemed to notice us staring at eachother. They shared a glance that I didn't recognize, but it seemed they were ignoring it... for now.

I tried to drink my coffee before realizing it was empty. Along with everyone else's drinks. How much time has passed for all of us to finish our drinks? I didn't even notice.

"Should we go?" John's sweet comforting voice spoke up, his eyes switching between the three of us. "Yeah." I replied slowly, Hercules and Lafayette just nodding their answer. I got out of the booth, generously gathering our cups to throw away. I tossed them into the bin, walking back to the small group right after.

"I'm going to go to the bathroom" John smiled his adorable bright smile, I noticed compared to the one from earlier, it was more fake and not as genuine. He skipped off to the bathroom in a cheerful way.

I felt a tough grip on my wrist and I was pulled off to a corner with less people, most of my support on the hand tightly wrapped around my wrist. "Listen Alex." A dead serious french accent spoke from above me.  I looked up to see Lafayette and Hercules, their expressions looked like they were about to snap someone's neck, or rather MY neck. I gulped in fear, taking back my wrist and straightening my posture. The two were twining in not only expression, but also in body language. Their stares were cold and vicious, the brawn men had their arms crossed, flexing without much effort. "This will be your only warning, so listen very carefully." The frenchman took a small breath before continuing again. "If you ever DARE hurt John in anyway, we will personally skin you alive and shred every little bone and gut in your body." Lafayette's cold death threat was emphasized with hand motions and him boldly saying the word "dare". He spoke quicker than usual, not needing to stop for any english pronounings, I took a moment to process before furiously nodding and stepping away. My face probably was quite pale along with seeming as if I saw the devil himself.

John walked back over to us with a bubbly attitude, he did a thumbs up to signal that he was ready to go.

As we walked down the sidewalk, John looked up at me with his beautiful glimmering eyes. "So what do you think of them?" he asked, referring to the giants that unwittingly separated themselves from us. "They're nice, a bit terrifying though." I spoke truthfully, my eyes looking them up and down.

"if you don't mind me asking, what is your relationship with them?" I asked out of curiosity, they treated John like a completely innocent family member, and they weren't totally wrong. "They're my best friends, I've known them since early highschool. They are like older brothers to me." John glanced down as if reflecting on the past times they spent together. I smiled warmly, I liked seeing Laurens so happy and calm. He was being authentic, I appreciated that he trusted me enough to be honest.
