Chapter 4
Crap.
As I open my eyes, I realize that I didn't set an alarm and therefore, overslept and am definitely late to school. Wait. That means Taya would be late too, because she's supposed to pick me up. As I shoot straight up in bed I scramble towards my door, getting my feet jumbled in my mound of blankets in the process.
"MOM!" I yell downstairs, "Are you up?"
Nothing. Racing down the stairs, almost tripping over my own feet, I get into the kitchen and see no one. Living room? Nope. Dining room? Nope. Checking her bedroom lastly, I see a big lump under the covers and walk towards it. Seeing my mom's face peeking through the blankets, I decide to let her sleep. When I get in the kitchen I look at the stove and see that the clock on it reads 7:30 a.m. Oh no. School starts at 7:30. Where's Taya then. She would've come inside if I wasn't coming out quick enough. I decide to call her and see if she woke up or not.
Ring ring. She picks up on the second ring.
Taya- Hello?
Rayne- WHERE ON EARTH ARE YOU?
Taya- Good morning. And I'm at home. Why?
Rayne- BECAUSE WE'RE LATE TO SCHOOL!
Taya- Rayne. It's Saturday.
Rayne- What?
Taya- It's Saturday. Why? Did you think it was a school day?
Rayne- Umm. Yeah. I'm sorry for waking you up. It's just that I thought it-
Taya- Bye Rayne. I'm going back to sleep. Okay?
Rayne- Yeah. Okay. Bye.
Taya- Bye.
Taya ends the call and I set my phone down on the counter. Getting a glass down, I fill it with water and set it down next to the fridge. When I'm done making a bowl of cereal, I take that, my water, and my phone back up to my room. I sit down on my bed slowly and set the water on my side table. I then dig into my cereal and scroll through Instagram.
✨✨
I found him. I have no idea how, but I did. I've been scrolling and searching through Instagram for a few hours now and it paid off. Seeing his face again bring joy to my day, even if it's just a profile picture. I finally found out his name, too. Alec Marshall. It's such a beautiful name. I push the follow button and wait patiently (Really girl? Don't tell them that.) until he allows me to follow him. I hope he follows me back. We could get to know each other and then we could-
My thoughts are interrupted when I see I'm now following him. And he's following me. My finger instantly scrolls slowly through his posts. He doesn't have that many, but he does have some. I resist the urge to like every single post because I don't want him to think I'm weird. Oh my gosh. He just liked one of my pictures! I mean, I did just post it yesterday, but that still means he looked at my profile. Oh my goodness. Oh my goodness. I want to call Taya so bad, but I'd rather tell her in person, so I decide to text her and ask her to pick me up. A minute later she says she's on her way and that we're going to go to Dunkin' Donuts. I grab a t-shirt and a pair of high waisted ripped jeans before going into the bathroom. When I'm all ready, I grab my purse and head downstairs. I don't want my mom to not know where I am, so I grab a few sticky notes and write that I'm with Taya. I put one on her nightstand, on the kitchen counter, her bathroom counter, and in my room. Just as I'm tying the laces of my converse, I hear a car pull into my driveway. Before Taya can honk the horn, I run out the door and towards her car. Finally, I can rant all my thoughts to my best friend.
----------------------------------------------
Yippee! I finally have WiFi. I don't even know what happened. Oh well.
So, Rayne found Alec on Instagram. Have you ever searched for one person for hours and actually found them?
Would you if you haven't already?
Do you rant to your best friend about pretty much everything? Even if it has little importance? I know I do.
