I had shown Mickey around the TARDIS and had called Luke and Sarah to thank them for housing me and that I was hoping to see them soon. I went to my room and sat down on my bed before flopping back closing my eyes. I woke up to someone knocking on my door I sat up and looked to the door.

"Come in!" I yelled, Mickey's head popping around the door.

"Hey, we've landed somewhere and Doctor and Rose we're wondering if you are gonna come with us?" I nodded and grabbed my denim jacket and followed after Mickey. As we exited the TARDIS I see we are on a large room that is clearly in a spaceship. "It's a spaceship. Brilliant! I got a spaceship on my first go." I walk over to a desk that has pieces of equpiment scattered across the desk and the floor.

"It looks kind of abandoned. Anyone on board?" Rose asked looking around.

"Nah, nothing here. Well, nothing dangerous. Well, not that dangerous." I looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

"You sure about that?" I asked sarcastically.

"You know what, I'll just have a quick scan, in case there's anything dangerous." I gave him a short nod.

"Yeh, you do that" I said rolling my eyes jokingly.

"So, what's the date? How far we gone?" Rose asked.

"About three thousand years into your future, give or take." The Doctor answers whilst messing around with the console. He must of found the light switch as the lights snapped to life and we saw outside large clusters of stars. "Fifty first century. Diagmar Cluster, you're a long way from home, Mickey. Two and a half galaxies."

"Mickey Smith, meet the universe. See anything you like?" Rose says whilst leaning on Mickey's back.

"It's so realistic!" I roll my eyes at this and chuckle.

"You don't say" Mickey rolls his eye back and playfully shoves me.

"Dear me, had some cowboys in here. Got a ton of repair work going on. Now that's odd. Look at that. All the warp engines are going. Full capacity. There's enough power running through this ship to punch a hole in the universe, but we're not moving. So where's all that power going?"

"Where'd all the crew go?" Rose inputted making me look around at the good point

"Good question. No life readings on board."

"Well, we're in deep space. They didn't just nip out for a quick fag."

"No, I've checked all the smoking pods. Can you smell that?" I took a deep breath and smelled something cooking.

"Yeah, someone's cooking."

"Sunday roast, definitely." Mickey pointed out I nodded my head agreeing. The Doctor pressed another button, opening a door behind us. I walked through the newly opened door and saw a fireplace that was alight with a clock on the mantlepiece. I walked towards it taking in all the details.

"Well, there's something you don't see in your average spaceship. Eighteenth century. French. Nice mantle. Not a hologram. It's not even a reproduction. This actually is an eighteenth century French fireplace. Double sided. There's another room through there." I got down to the floor and sat on my knees looking through the fireplace my eyes widening slightly at the sight of a young girl on the other side.

"Hello." I greeted her with a smile making the other three looking at me. The Doctor squatted down next to me as the young girl smiled back to me greeting me back.

"Hello." I had to hide my surprise when I heard her speak french but I was able to translate it.

"What's your name?" Doctor asked.

"Reinette."

"Reinette, that's a lovely name. Where are you right now Reinette?" I asked.

"In my bedroom." She answered.

"And where's your bedroom? Where do you live, Reinette?" I reiterated.

"Paris, of course."

"Paris, right!" The Doctor exclaimed next to me.

"Monsieur, Madame, what are you doing in my fireplace?" I looked to the Doctor for an answer.

"Oh, it's just a routine fire check. Can you tell me what year it is?"

"Of course I can. Seventeen hundred and twenty seven."

"Right, lovely. One of my favourites. August is rubbish though. Stay indoors. Okay, that's all for now. Thanks for your help. Hope you enjoy the rest of the fire. Night, night." I looked back to her as the Doctor stood back up.

"Goodnight Reinette" She said goodnight to us both.

"You said this was the fifty first century." Mickey pointed out as I leaned against the fireplace.

"I also said this ship was generating enough power to punch a hole in the universe. I think we just found the hole. Must be a spatio-temporal hyperlink." The Doctor argued.

"What's that?" Mickey asked.

"No idea. Just made it up. Didn't want to say magic door."

"And on the other side of the magic door is France in 1727?" Rose asked.

"Well, she was speaking French." I spoke up surprising the three.

"How did you know she was speaking French?" The Doctor asked raising his eyebrow.

"I already know French as it was one of the language I learned in school" The Doctor looked at me in slight disbelief. "C'est vrai, j'aimais apprendre le français" I spoke fluently surprising them.

"She was speaking English, I heard her." Mickey argued.

"That's the TARDIS. Translates for you." Rose filled in.

"Even French?" By now the Doctor had walked up to the fireplace and was messing around with the edge.

"Gotcha!" He yelled hitting the side of the fireplace making me hold on as it spun around.

"Doctor! Effie!" I heard Rose yell as we turned around to see we were in Reinette's bedroom. It was pitch black in the room. I walked forward as the Doctor moved the curtain aside as the light entered the room Reinette woke up scared.

"It's okay. Don't scream. It's us. It's the fireplace man and girl. Look." He aimed his sonic screwdriver at a candle lighting it. "We were talking just a moment ago. I was in your fireplace." I walked towards her seeing the confusion in her face.

"Monsieur, that was weeks ago. That was months." I looked to the Doctor very confused.

"Really? Oh. Must be a loose connection. Need to get a man in."

"Who are you? And what are you doing here?" I look from Reinette to the Doctor as he was just staring at the clock on the mantel.

"Okay, that's scary." I raise my eyebrow at him.

"You're scared of a broken clock?" Reinette asks.

"Just a bit scared, yeah. Just a little tiny bit. Because, you see, if this clock's broken, and it's the only clock in the room, then what's that?" My eyes turn orange as the ticking becomes more evident.

"Because, you see, that's not a clock. You can tell by the resonance. Too big. Six feet, I'd say. The size of a man."

"What is it?" Reinette asks I sit next to her on the bed and placed a comforting arm around her shoulder to try and keep her calm despite the fact my eyes were getting more and more orange.

"Now, let's think. If you were a thing that ticked and you were hiding in someone's bedroom, first thing you do, break the clock. No one notices the sound of one clock ticking, but two? You might start to wonder if you're really alone." The Doctor looked towards the bed we were sitting on. "Stay on the bed. Right in the middle. Don't put your hands or feet over the edge. You to Effie" I followed his instructions and tucked my legs up as he waved the screwdriver under the bed when something knocked it out of his hand making me jump back.

"Reinette don't look round." I looked back to see a figure with a smiley mask standing behind us I held onto Reinette a bit more tightly ready to protect her if it came to it. "You, stay exactly where you are. Hold still, let me look." The Doctor held Reinette's head and looked deep in her eyes.

"You've been scanning her brain. What, you've crossed two galaxies and thousands of years just to scan a child's brain? What could there be in a little girl's mind worth blowing a hole in the universe?" I turned around to the creature glaring at it my eyes turning red.

"I don't understand. It wants me? You want me?" She asked the creature.

"Not yet. You are incomplete." A robot voice spoke up.

"Incomplete? What's that mean, incomplete? You can answer her, you can answer me. What do you mean, incomplete?" The creature walked around the bed and a blade came out of his hand aimed at the Doctor's neck.

"Monsieur, be careful." Reinette exclaimed.

"Doctor, for once I'd perhaps watch what you would say for once" He looked towards us both.

"Just a nightmare, Reinette, don't worry about it. Everyone has nightmares." The robot creature slashes towards the Doctor as he dodges going back to the fireplace. "Even monsters from under the bed have nightmares, don't you, monster?" The blade gets stuck in the mantle piece as Reinette asks.

"What do monsters have nightmares about?" The Doctor goes to the side of the fireplace and yells.

"Me!" After he disappeared my eyes widened in realisation that he had left me here. We already knew there was a time delay so now I don't know how long it'll be. Reinette must of thought the same thing.

"When is your friend going to come for you?" I tried to think of something to say but I was already worried out of my mind. I suddenly felt her hand on my shoulder. "Don't worry you can stay here until he comes back for you" I smiled at her and thanked her.

That was about 12 years ago. I had been stuck there for 12 years. But when I had hit 17 years old I felt different and I seemed to stop ageing during my time with Reinette I had explained my eyes which also helped my explanation for my slow ageing. Over this time I had gotten closer to Reinette she taught me how to play instruments one being the piano. When I had first magically appeared in her room Reinette's mother was surprised at first but I won her over with my manners and with Reinette begging for me to stay.

(Effie's outfit for the time minus the wig)

I had chosen out the outfit the following day of joining Reinette's household Reinette's mother was insistent that I choose a dress but I was not going to be walking around in one of those. Once we had gotten my outfit Reinette's mother suggested I tie my hair up to look like a man so I wouldn't cause a scandal.

When Reinette had become an adult I felt a wave of emotions flooding over me that I had no idea what they meant. I will never forget them for as long as I live. I had gone to travel Paris a bit to see the sights but I would write Reinette letters and she would send me them back. I returned to see her when she had recently turned 20 with a birthday gift. I waited for her in the main entrance when I saw her walking on the steps I took my hat off and started walking to her as I would normally but I stopped dead in my tracks when my eyes landed on her. I felt my heart stop and my hands go sweaty. I tried to catch my self from making a fool of myself but I already felt a blush on my cheeks.

'what is wrong with me?' I asked myself then it hit me. 'oh dear god, I'm in love with Reinette Poisson'. Since the day I realised that I tried to hide this from her but there was never any way to hide it from her for long. However, after staying with Reinette again she had questioned what was going on and I admitted it. Knowing the time period I thought they would send me to jail or kill me but to my surprise Reinette placed a kiss on my lips surprising me. But I kissed her back.

When I went back to my travels I would send more letters to Reinette, which she would respond to making me smile. We were together for up to four years but then the news got to me about her and the king. I had completely forgot about the timeline of Reinette becoming the king's mistress. I felt heartbroken but I knew she had to be with him but she still sent me letters admiting how she longed to be with me but she had to be with him.

I was in tears most of the nights I was apart from her. But I knew I had to return I had promised years ago I would always be there for her even if she couldn't be mine. On my day of return Reinette had informed me prior to meet her at Versaille palace. I had stopped my horse on the outside of the palace and headed for her room. As I got there I ran into the king who looked at me surprised. Despite the fact he was the king I couldn't help but want to punch him but I kept my cool and bowed to him. I walked into the room seeing Reinette I felt my heart swell and I walked forward quickly. She smiled upon seeing me I gently took her hand and kissed it making her smile sadly.

"I've missed you Reinette" I said giving her a hug.

"As I have missed you, mon amoureux défendu" I felt a blush hit my face hearing that. I went to talk when I saw a slight bit of fear and anger in Reinette's eyes I turned to see where she was looking to see a random figure in the corner. "How long have you been standing there? Show yourself!" As it turns around I see it's a clockwork android I quickly place a protective arm in front of Reinette as it starts to move forward I grab my pistol from my belt and aim it towards it. Before I can shoot the mirror behind us spins around and to my surprise the Doctor, Mickey and Rose enter.

"Hello, Reinette. Hasn't time flown?"

"Fireplace man!" I was surprised how he didn't greet me but he quickly sprayed the android with what seemed to be ice. The android started to creak.

"What's it doing?" Mickey asked.

"Switching back on. Melting the ice." The Doctor answered.

"And then what?"

"Then it kills everyone in the room." The robot lurched slightly making us all jump. Focuses the mind, doesn't it?" I turned to Reinette and tried to hide the fear from my eyes.

"Reinette no matter what stay behind me, okay?" She nodded but this made the Doctor turn to me.

"I'm sorry but who are you?" This again surprised me.

"Come on Doctor I know it's been a while but you can remember me?" I lift my hat slightly revealing my purple eyes. This made his eyes widen.

"Effie!?" I smiled at Rose and Mickey's reactions.

"You left her here?!" Rose asked surprised.

"I thought she was right behind me" The Doctor defended. "Wait so that was you who Reinette called her Forbidden Lov-" I quickly cut him off feeling my eyes turning pink.

"Look we can talk about him abandoning me here later first let's deal with the android." The Doctor nodded his head and turned to the android.

"Identify yourself." The android stayed silent so the Doctor turned to Reinette. "Order it to answer me."

"Why should it listen to me?"

"I don't know. It did when you were a child. Let's see if you've still got it."

"Answer his question. Answer any and all questions put to you."

"I am repair droid seven."

"What happened to the ship, then? There was a lot of damage." The Doctor asks.

"Ion storm. Eighty two percent systems failure."

"That ship hasn't moved in over a year. What's taken you so long?"

"We did not have the parts."

"Always comes down to that, doesn't it? The parts. " Mickey remarked with a smirk.

"What's happened to the crew? Where are they?"

"We did not have the parts." My eyes widen at the realisation of what the droid was saying.

"There should have been over fifty people on your ship. Where did they go?"

"We did not have the parts."

"Fifty people don't just disappear. Where-" I cut him off.

"Doctor think about it." I looked to the droid. "You didn't have the parts, so you used the crew." I said my eyes going green.

"The crew?" Mickey asked in shock.

"We found a camera with an eye in it, and there was a heart wired in to machinery." Rose inputted my eyes were now going more green at the thought.

"It was just doing what it was programmed to. Repairing the ship any way it can, with whatever it could find. No one told it the crew weren't on the menu. What did you say the flight deck smelt of?"

"Someone cooking."

"Flesh plus heat. Barbeque." I felt Reinette put her hand in mine and I could feel her fear so I held her's reassuringly. "But what are you doing here? You've opened up time windows. That takes colossal energy. Why come here? You could have gone to your repair yard. Instead you come to eighteenth century France? Why?"

"One more part is required." It then looked to Reinette making my eyes turn red.

"Like hell I'm going to let you take her!" I growled.

"Then why haven't you taken it?" The Doctor asked.

"She is incomplete."

"What, so, that's the plan, then. Just keep opening up more and more time windows, scanning her brain, checking to see if she's done yet."

"Why her?" We all turn to Rose. "You've got all of history to choose from. Why specifically her?"

"We are the same."

"We are not the same. We are in no sense the same." I felt Reinette's anger radiating off of her.

"We are the same."

"Get out of here. Get out of here this instant!" With her saying that the droid teleport-ed out of the room.

"It's back on the ship. Rose, take Mickey and Arthur. Get after it. Follow it. Don't approach it, just watch what it does. Effie you need to go with them to" My eyes widened.

"No way, I've been here for years I'm not leaving knowing that Reinette could be in danger." The Doctor looked at me with a raised eyebrow but sighed leaving it.

"Reinette, you're going to have to trust me. I need to find out what they're looking for. There's only one way I can do that. It won't hurt a bit." The Doctor places his hands on Reinette's head going into her head.

"Fireplace man, you are inside my mind."

"Oh dear, Reinette. You've had some cowboys in here." I watch from the side as he looks through her mind.

"You are in my memories. You walk among them."

"If there's anything you don't want me to see, just imagine a door and close it. I won't look. Oh, actually there's a door just there. You might want to cl. Oh, actually, several." I felt my eyes go pink at the thought of the Doctor seeing me and Reinette together.

"To walk among the memories of another living soul. Do you ever get used to this?"

"I don't make a habit of it."

"How can you resist?"

"What age are you?"

"So impertinent a question so early in the conversation. I only talk about that to mon amoureux défendu" I blushed as she said my nickname.

"No, not my question, theirs. You're twenty three and for some reason, that means you're not old enough." I see her flinch making me worried. "Sorry, you might find old memories reawakening. Side effect."

"Oh, such a lonely childhood." This made me raise my eye brow she was never alone.

"It'll pass. Stay with me."

"Oh, Effie Harkness. So lonely. So very, very alone." My eyes widened at that I never told her my real last name.

"What do you mean, alone? You've never been alone in your life." The Doctor opened his eyes equally shocked at what she said. "When did you start saying Effie's last name?" Reinette carried on not answering the question.

"Such a lonely little girl. Lonely then and lonelier now. How can you bear it?" The Doctor then broke the link making Reinette look to me my eyes turning blue and yellow as she walked towards me.

"How did you do that?" I asked in shock.

"A door, once opened, can be stepped through in either direction. Oh, Effie. My lonely mon amoureux défendu." She placed her hand on the side of my face. "Dance with me." I blushed at this.

"I can't."

"Dance with me." She insisted.

"This is the night you dance with the King." I said my eyes turning blue which she saw.

"Then first, I shall make him jealous."

"I can't." I said lowering my head.

"Effie, you told me what your eye colours mean I know how your feeling, how you have felt all the time you have been here"

"What did you see?" I asked.

"That there comes a time, mon amoureux défendu, when every lonely little girl must learn how to dance." With that she grabbed me by my hand and dragged me out of the room. She took me to the ballroom making me look around nervously as people began to watch us. Reinette didn't care though as she grabbed my hands and placed on on her shoulder and the other on her waist making my eyes turn pink as we began to dance. "I understand how you feel, I would love nothing more to be with you, but you know as well as I do that we cannot be" I felt my heart sink.

"I know, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have to hurt" I saw Reinette smile gently at this. We danced and talked for a while until the King walked up to us to dance with Reinette I stepped aside and watched from the side-lines. I had lost the Doctor after being dragged away making me frustrated at the fact I was again stuck here.

That was about a year now and I had gone on my travels again not being able to see Reinette with the King without feeling my heart shattering. On the day I had returned to her we sat in the music room reminiscing on when she taught me how to play when I jumped up and aimed my pistol and a random figure sneaking in. But lowered it when I saw it was Rose.

"Madame de Pompadour. Please, don't scream or anything. We haven't got a lot of time." Rose sat next to us on a sofa. "I've come to warn you that they'll be here in five years."

"Five years?"

"Some time after your thirty seventh birthday. I er, I can't give you an exact date. It's a bit random. But they're coming. It's going to happen. In a way, for us, it's already happening. I'm sorry, it's hard to explain. The Doctor does this better."

"Then be exact, and I will be attentive."

"There isn't time."

"There are five years."

"For you. I haven't got five minutes."

"Then also be concise." I placed my hand over hers and used my power to make her feel more calm making her look to me and smiled thankfully.

"Er, there's, say, a vessel, a ship, a sort of sky ship, and it's full of, well, you. Different bits of your life in different rooms, all jumbled up. I told you it was complicated. Sorry."

"There is a vessel in your world where the days of my life are pressed together like the chapters of a book, so that he may step from one to the other without increase of age while I, weary traveller, must always take the slower path." I felt a swell of pride this was one of the reasons I loved her she had always been smart for her age.

"He was right about you."

"So, in five years these creatures will return. What can be done?"

"The Doctor says keep them talking. They're kind of programmed to respond to you now. You won't be able to stop them, but you might be able to delay them a bit."

"Until?"

"Until the Doctor can get there."

"He's coming, then?"

"He promises."

"But he cannot make his promises in person?"

"He'll be there when you need him. That's the way it's got to be."

"I know the Doctor keeps his promises but I know you trust me with mine, no harm will come to you Reinette" I said making her smile.

"It's the way it's always been. The monsters and the Doctor. It seems you cannot have one without the other."

"Tell me about it. The thing is, you weren't supposed to have either. Those creatures are messing with history. None of this was ever supposed to happen to you."

"Supposed to happen? What does that mean? It happened, child, and I would not have it any other way." She then turned to me and held my hand. "One may tolerate a world of demons for the sake of an angel." My eyes turned pink and I scratched the back of my neck chuckling.

"Rose? Rose?" We all hear Mickey yelling and popped his head around the curtain making Reinette go out.

"No, you can't go in there, the Doctor will go mad--" I leave with Reinette.

"So, this is his world." We suddenly hear screams. "What was that?"

"The time window. The Doctor fixed an audio link." Mickey answered.

"Those screams. Is that my future?" Reinette asked fear in her voice. I took her hand trying to send her fear away with my powers.

"Yeah. I'm sorry." Rose said apologetically.

"Then I must take the slower path."

"Are you there? Can you hear me? I need you now. You promised. The clock on the mantel is broken. It is time." We hear Reinette's voice in the distance. "That's my voice."

"Rose, come on. We've got to go. There's, there's a problem." Mickey said I looked to Rose nodding for her to go. I look to Reinette and asked.

"Are you okay?"

"No, I'm very afraid. But you and I both know, don't we, mon amoureux défendu, the Doctor is worth the monsters." I smiled and watched as she went through the curtain but as I went to go with her the curtain wouldn't let me through making me panic and tears pricked my eyes. I was trapped away from her.

"Effie! Effie!" The sound of Reinette's scared voice made me run towards where the Doctor and the other's were. I ran into the room surprising everyone.

"So how do we save Reinette?" I asked getting straight to the point.

"Well, we'll go in the TARDIS!" Rose suggested.

"We can't use the TARDIS. We're part of events now."

"Well, can't we just smash through?" Mickey asked.

"Hyperplex this side, plate glass the other. We need a truck."

"We don't have a truck."

"I know we don't have a truck!"

"Well, we've got to try something."

"No. Smash the glass, smash the time window. There'd be no way back." I felt something nudge my back making me turn to see my horse. How it got on board I will never know I knew how to get back to Reinette and save her but I didn't know if I was brave enough to do this and never see my family again.

"Could everyone just calm down? Please." But hearing her voice I knew I could do it I quickly grabbed my horse's reins and jumped on heading straight for the glass making them all yell to me. I shield my face from the glass as my horse lands on the ground I dismount and see Reinette being held to her knees by the droids.

"Madame de Pompadour. You look younger every day." I said smiling.

"What the hell is going on?" King Louis asks.

"Oh. Effie, you remember my lover, the King of France." I just give a short nod to the king.

"Yeah, we've met before" I went to the droid and took the mask off as it points it's blade at my throat. "Forget it. It's over. For you and for me." I said looking to the giant shattered mirror. "Talk about seven years bad luck. Try three thousand." I look to the droid who is trying to teleport. "The link with the ship is broken. No way back. You don't have the parts. How many ticks left in that clockwork heart, huh? A day? An hour? It's over. Accept that. I'm not winding you up." With that the droids all wind down one of them falling backwards smashing it's head on the ground. I walk to Reinette offering her my hand. "You all right?" She takes my hand as I lift her up.

"What's happened to them?" She asks.

"They've stopped. They have no purpose now." After the guests had left I went to the side and looked up to the night sky.

"You know all their names, don't you?" I looked to see Reinette. "I saw that in his mind. The  knowledge of the name of every star. You know more then you let on" I smirk at this and shrugged my shoulders.

"What's in a name? Names are just titles. Titles don't tell you anything."

"Like the mon amoureux défendu." I smirk at this.

"Like Madame de Pompadour."

"I have often wished to see those stars a little closer. Just as you have, I think."

"From time to time."

"In saving me, you trapped yourself. Did you know that would happen?" My eyes turned pink as I nodded.

"Mmm. Pretty much."

"Yet, still you came."

"Of course I did, if I had the chose I would gladly do it again for you" I said holding her hand.

"There were many doors between my world and yours. Can you not use one of the others?" I sighed knowing that was not a choice.

"When the mirror broke, the shock would have severed all the links with the ship. There'll be a few more broken mirrors and torn tapestries around here, I'm afraid, wherever there was a time window. I'll, I'll pay for any damage."

"So, here you are, mon amoureux défendu, stuck on the slow path with me again" I smile at this.

"Yep, the slow path." I feel her rest her head on my head and she sighed.

"It's a pity. I think I would've enjoyed the slow path." I raised my eyebrow at this.

"Well, I'm not going anywhere."

"Oh, aren't you? Take my hand." I grab her hand as she leads me to her bedchamber making me blush assuming something but I stop when I see the fireplace.

"It's not a copy, it's the original. I had it moved here and was exact in every detail."

"The fireplace. The fireplace from your bedroom. When did you do this?"

"Many years ago, in the hope that a door once opened, may someday open again. One never quite knows when one needs one's amoureux défendu. It appears undamaged. Do you think it will still work?"

"You broke the bond with the ship when you moved it, which means it was offline when the mirror broke. That's what saved it. But the link is basically physical, and it's still physically here. Which might just mean, if I'm lucky. If I'm very, very, very, very, very, very lucky." I tap the fireplace and hear a hollow point. "Ah ha!"

"What?"

"Loose connection." I'm about to active it but stop.

"Why don't you want to go back" I looked back to her.

"If I leave I don't know how long I'll be gone and i can't leave you again" She sighed and held my hand. "I know I can't be with you like we want but why can't I stay with you?"

"Your future isn't here it is out there some where" I look down trying not to cry. "Please don't stay here for me, where you will just be in pain seeing me everyday" I nodded and hit the fireplace in the right place spinning around. When I'm on the other side I kneel down.

"Madame de Pompadour! Still want to see those stars?" I asked seeing her smiling.

"More than anything."

"Give me two minutes. Pack a bag."

"Am I going somewhere?" She asked.

"Go to the window. Pick a star, any star." I run back to the main area seeing everyone they ran to me hugging me tightly even Mickey was hugging me.

"How long did you wait?" I asked.

"Five and a half hours." I cringed at how long that was.

"Where've you been?" Rose asks.

"Explain later. Be with you in a sec." I then quickly ran back to the fireplace. When I spun around into Reinette's room I saw it was dark.

"Reinette? You there, Reinette?" I walked further into the palace until I was in the main room. "Reinette? Oh, hello." I stop seeing Louis.

"You just missed her. She'll be in Paris by six."

"Ah."

"Good Lord. She was right. She said you never looked a day older. So many years since I saw you last, but not a day of it on your face." I nodded and watched him as he took a sealed letter from a drawer. "She spoke of you many times. Often wished you'd visit again. You know how women are." He then handed me the letter. "There she goes." I felt my heart drop and my eyes turn blue as I see a hearse going down the driveway. "Leaving Versailles for the last time. Only forty three when she died. Too young. Too young. Illness took her in the end. She always did work too hard. What does she say?" I looked to the letter and placed it inside my jacket. "Of course. Quite right." I cry silently as I walked back to her old room memories hitting me us hanging out and during the times we would be with each other. As I reached the TARDIS my cheeks were soaking wet from my tears. The others see me but they let me pass as I go to my room sending me sympathetic looks. I lay on my bed crying for what felt like years when I sat up and felt the letter pocking my chest I pulled it out and opened it reading it.

"This letter, mon amoureux défendu, will not be delivered to you, unless I shall first have terminated my earthly career; to begin, as I humbly hope from redeeming grace and divine mercy, a happy immortality.

I need not tell you of the pangs I feel, from the idea of quitting you and exposing you to the anguish which I know you would feel. Nor could I dwell on the topic lest it should unman me.

Fly to the bosom of your God and be comforted. With my last idea; I shall cherish the sweet hope of meeting you in a better world.

Adieu best of Women.

Ever yours

Reinette"
