Just when we all thought we were going to die the Doctor held out the power cell from the TARDIS and fired a golden energy at the Cybermen bending them backwards.

"What the hell was that?!" Rickey yelled in shock.

"We'll have that instead. Run!" My mum held my hand tightly picking up the front of her dress as we ran across the grass towards the van.

"Everybody, in!" Mrs Moore, the blonde haired woman yelled to us. My mum pushed me in first then got in herself sitting next to me holding my hand tightly. I knew this wasn't my real mum but it felt nice having the motherly figure next to me, comforting me. Finally, everyone got into the van and as the Doctor slammed the door Mrs Moore spoke up again. "Finished chatting? Never seen a slower getaway in my life!" We quickly sped off getting further and further away from the army of Cybermen. When we had gained enough distance Rickey finally spoke up looking towards the Doctor and asking.

"What was that thing?" The Doctor placed the cell back into his jacket pocket, explaining.

"Little bit of technology from my home."

"It's stopped glowing. Has it run out?" Mickey asked concerned.

"It's on a revitalising loop. It'll charge back up in about four hours."

"Right. So, we don't have a weapon anymore." Rickey grumbled.

"Yeah, we've got weapons. Might not be one of those metal things, but they're good enough for men like him." Jake said glaring towards Pete.

"Leave him alone. What's he done wrong?" Rose snapped defending her 'dad'.

"Oh, you know, just laid a trap that's wiped out the Government and left Lumic in charge." This made me look towards Pete not really believing it.

"If I was part of all that, do you think I'd leave my wife inside?" Pete asked.

"Also, if he was working with Lumic, why were the Cybermen trying to kill him?" This made everyone look to me as I had been quiet before hand.

"Maybe your plan went wrong. Still gives us the right to execute you, though." Rickey said. I felt my mum's hand tighten as she finally spoke up.

"Don't you even try that, otherwise I will personally make you regret it" I looked up to her almost stunned I could never picture her looking this angry.

"All the same, we have evidence that says Pete Tyler's been working for Lumic since twenty point five." Rickey defended himself.

"Is that true?" Rose asked, in shock to find out her dad was working for the bad guy.

"Tell them, Mrs M." Jake said making Mrs Moore turn her head slightly towards us whilst keeping her eyes on the road.

"We've got a government mole who feeds us information. Lumic's private files, his South American operations, the lot. Secret broadcasts twice a week."

"Broadcast from Gemini?" Pete asked.

"And how do you know that?" Rickey said furrowing his brow.

"I'm Gemini. That's me."

"Yeah, well you would say that."

"Encrypted wavelength six five seven using binary nine. That's the only reason I was working for Lumic. To get information. I thought I was broadcasting to the Security Services. What do I get? Scooby Doo and his gang. They've even got the van."

"Although it would of been better if they had a dog as well" I muttered making mum chuckle under her breath.

"No, no, no. But the Preachers know what they're doing. Ricky said he's London's Most Wanted." Mickey said looking towards Rickey.

"Yeah, that's not exactly..." Rickey started looking quiet sheepish now.

"Not exactly what?" Mickey asked mocking Ricky's voice.

"I'm London's Most Wanted for parking tickets." I had to quickly hide my face in my hand to stifle the giggles at this but Pete wasn't as impressed rolling his eyes.

"Great."

"Yeah, they were deliberate. I was fighting the system. Park anywhere, that's me."

"Good policy. I do much the same. I'm the Doctor, by the way, if anyone's interested."

"I'm Effie" I saw my mum look towards me still having disbelief in her eyes at the sight of me but now even my name made her turn slightly pale.

"I'm Nova" She introduced herself making the Doctor and Rose's eyes widen in realisation.

"And I'm Rose. Hello."

"Even better. That's the name of my dog. Still, at least I've got the catering staff on my side."

"I'd take those ear pods off, if I were you. You never know. Lumic could be listening." The Doctor suggested zapping the ear pods with his sonic screwdriver. "But he's overreached himself. He's still just a businessman. He's assassinated the President. All we need to do is get to the city and inform the authorities. Because I promise you, this ends tonight." We soon arrived to the city but the plan was not going to be easy as we could see people walking around like zombies. My mum had still not let go of my hand as if I'd fade away if she let me go for one second. "It's the ear-pods. Lumic's taken control."

"Can't we just, I don't know, take them off?" Rose asks reaching to take the ear pods out but the Doctor quickly grabbed her wrist.

"Don't! Cause a brainstorm. Human race. For such an intelligent lot, you aren't half susceptible. Give anyone a chance to take control and you submit. Sometimes I think you like it. Easy life." I raised my eyebrow at this.

"Hey, not all of us are like that"

"Hey, Come and see." Jake yelled to us we walked around the corner where we see more people but also a squad of Cybermen.

"Where are they all going?" Rose asks.

"I don't know. Lumic must have a base of operations." The Doctor says making Pete speak up.

"Battersea. That's where he was building his prototypes."

"Why's he doing it?" Rose again asks.

"He's dying. This all started out as a way of prolonging life, of keeping the brain alive at any cost." Pete answers.

"Why is it whenever, a human want's to live forever they always have to kill innocent people?" I heard mum mutter to herself.

"The thing is, me and Effie have seen Cybermen before, haven't we? The head. Those handle shapes in Van Statten's museum." I slightly shuddered at the memory of the whole Van Statten experience.

"Ah, there are Cybermen in our universe. They started on an ordinary world just like this, then swarmed across the galaxy. This lot are a parallel version, and they're starting from scratch right here on Earth."

"What the hell are you two on about?" Pete asks looking very confused.

"Never mind that. Come on, we need to get out of the city. Okay, split up. Mrs Moore, you look after that bloke. Jake, distract them. Go right, I'll go left. We'll meet back at Bridge Street. Move." Ricky orders before they all split off.

"I'm going with him." Mickey says kissing Rose and ruffling my hair before running after Rickey.

"Come on, let's go." Mrs Moore says and we all follow after her down a side street. We end up running into an alley my mum quickly pulls me behind a pile of rubbish bins as the Cybermen got closer my eyes turned orange I felt a hand on my back looking backwards I saw my mum placing a comforting hand on my back. The Doctor lifted up his sonic screwdriver before the Cybermen marched on.

"Go." We quickly ran down the alley and kept going until we reached a grassy hill with a wooden park bench. I sat on the bench taking deep breaths my mum walked up to me and squatted down in front of me.

"How are you feeling, sweetie?" I was getting used to her calling me these nicknames and nodded.

"Alright kinda light-headed" I felt her place her hand on my head before pulling back.

"Effie, your bleeding" My head that I had injured in the TARDIS must be bleeding again. Before I could do or say anything I heard a ripping noise. Mum had ripped a line out of her dress and was holding it against my head before tying it to my head. "There, that should keep it from bleeding to much.

"I ran past the river. You should have seen it. The whole city's on the march. Hundreds of Cybermen all down the Thames." Jake said running back to the group. Either Mickey or Ricky runs up to us. "Here he is!" Jake smiled but his smile dropped when he realised he didn't know which one he was. "Which one are you?"

"I'm sorry. The Cybermen. He couldn't." He tried to answer.

"Are you Ricky? Are you Ricky?" Jake asked getting more and more angry.

"Mickey, that's you, isn't it?" Rose asks walking up to him.

"Yeah." I let out a breath in relief as Rose hugs Mickey. Mickey goes towards Jake trying to explain. "He tried. He was running. There was too many of them."

"Shut it." Jake hissed.

"There was nothing I could do."

"I said just shut it. Don't even talk about him. You're nothing, you are. Nothing." My eyes turned red at this point and I sprang up shoving Jake away from Mickey getting into his face.

"Hey, watch what you say there, how dare you even say that to him. I don't see you being there to save Rickey" Jake opened his mouth to argue. "Don't even try and defend yourself! I understand he was your friend but that gives you no right to tell my friend they are nothing, maybe I think your nothing, but I wouldn't say that!" I felt close to punching him but the Doctor spoke up.

"We can mourn him when London is safe. But now, we move on." I shoved past Jake and as I walked back to mum I patted Mickey shoulder comfortingly. We eventually reached a vantage point opposite Battersea power station. "The whole of London's been sealed off, and the entire population's been taken inside that place. To be converted."

"We've got to get in there and shut it down." Rose said determination in her eyes.

"How do we do that?" Mickey asked from his sitting position on the bench.

"Oh, I'll think of something." The Doctor said making me roll my eyes.

"You're just making this up as you go along." Mickey accused his eyes widening in shock.

"Yep. But I do it brilliantly." I cringed slightly looking towards him.

"I wouldn't say brilliantly, maybe sub-par" This made Rose chuckle and the Doctor give me a joke glare. Mrs Moore brought out her laptop and had brought up some schematics.

"That's a schematic of the old factory. Look." She said pointing at the bottom part. "Cooling tunnels underneath the plant. Big enough to walk through"

"We go under there and up into the control centre?" The Doctor asks.

"Mmm." Mrs Moore murmured whilst nodding.

"There's another way in. Through the front door. If they've taken Jackie for upgrading, that's how she'll get in." Pete suggested.

"We can't just go strolling up." Jake argued still sounding ticked off from the argument.

"Or we could, with these." She pulled out what looked like normal ear pods. "Fake ear pods. Dead. No signal. But put them on, the Cybermen would mistake you for one of the crowd."

"What can't you make?" I ask in astonishment making Mrs Moore smile.

"Then that's my job." Pete said.

"You'd have to show no emotion. None at all. Any sign of emotion would give you away." The Doctor informed him.

"How many of those you got?" Rose asks making me look to her my eyes turning yellow.

"Just two sets." Mrs Moore answered.

"Okay. If that's the best way of finding Jackie, then I'm coming with you."

"Why does she matter to you?" Pete asked.

"We haven't got time. Doctor, I'm going with him, and that's that."

"No stopping you, is there?" He asked hoping she would change her mind.

"No."

"Tell you what. We can take the ear pods at the same time. Give people their minds back so they don't walk into that place like sheep. Jakey-boy? Lumic's transmitting the control signal. It must be from over there." He waved his sonic screwdriver in the direction of the power station. There was a parked Zeppelin with a circle of red lights blinking. "There it is. On the zeppelin, you see? Great big transmitter. Good thing Lumic likes showing off. Reckon you could take it out?"

"Consider it done." Jake said happy to contribute.

"If it's alright with everyone, I know groups in the city who don't wear the ear pods, I need to go and make sure they haven't been rounded up" I looked to my mum.

"I'm going with you then" I said turning to her.

"Effie, are you sure? This won't be safe" I saw the fear in her eyes.

"None of this is going to be safe" I pointed out making her sigh.

"Okay, but follow me closely" I turned to the Doctor who seemed adimtent on letting me go but nodded before turning to Mrs Moore.

"Mrs Moore, would you care to accompany me into the cooling tunnels?"

"How could I refuse an offer of cooling tunnels?" She responded with a smile.

"We attack on three sides. Above, between, below. We get to the control centre, we stop the conversion machines."

"What about me?" Mickey asked making me glare slightly at the Doctor especially when he starts to fumble with his sentences.

"Mickey. You can er-"

"What, stay out of trouble? Be the tin dog? No, those days are over. I'm going with Jake." He says jumping off of the bench.

"I don't need you, idiot." Just as I was about to jump in to defend Mickey, Mickey glares at Jack and snaps back at him.

"I'm not an idiot! You got that? I'm offering to help." Jake looked surprised by Mickey's outburst but surrenders.

"Whatever." He then walks away Mickey goes to follow but the Doctor calls to him.

"Mickey. Good luck."

"Yeah, you too. Rose, I'll see you later."

"Yeah, you'd better."

"Effie, you look after yourself" I roll my eyes jokingly.

"When don't I?"

"If we survive this, I'll see you back at the TARDIS." The Doctor told us before we all went in our own directions. Me and mum walked in silence for a few minutes before she spoke up.

"How are you here, Effie?" I looked up to her. "I know you died in the car crash, along with Jack" I sighed but explained everything about my world. "So in your world, your dad is- or was- alive and I had died leaving you an orphan?" She sighed turning to look at me. "You would of been 17 this year, how old are you?" I then explained that in human years I was still 17 but in our race I would of been about 20 still seen as a child seeing how long our race lives for.

We soon made it to the city but before we could even start looking for her group a large group of Cybermen had blocked off our path. We turned and ran but was soon blocked off again. Behind us was a small path but we were getting quickly surrounded.

"Effie, run, run!" Mum yelled and pushed me forward as I ran I tried to make sure that mum was behind me, but then she tripped. I felt the world slow down as I spun on my heel to go back to her as a Cyberman reached it's hand to her neck and sent the electricity killing her and shoving her forward making her lifeless body land in front of me. I landed to my knees unaware of the world around me as Cybermen surrounded all around. I felt a darkness seep from my skin and my eyes had turned black. As I felt my tears turn thick almost like tar I let out a inhuman scream as I felt a surge of energy erupt from me all I could feel was anger a burning anger towards those who just killed my mum. As the anger became more and more heated a scream cut me off and made me look around, I was surrounded by darkness but I could make out the figures of the Cybermen writing in pain as they held their heads before dropping to the floor, dead. I started to take deep breaths becoming scared by this power that was coming from me as my eyes flicked from black to orange the darkness subsided leaving me in an ally with my dead mum and a large group of dead Cybermen. I stumbled to my feet and stumbled back to the TARDIS where I entered and told the TARDIS to let the Doctor know I was in my room. When I got to my room I closed the door and slid my back against it and placed my head to my knees crying. What felt like hours later I heard a knock on my door.

"Effie, can I come in?" I slowly opened the door to see the Doctor. He entered and sat on my bed. "What happened?" I tried to take deep breaths and explain but I ended up breaking down and telling him everything. My new powers concerned him but he promised everything would be fine and he would just help me to try and control it. I just wanted one thing to go right in my life, just one. When could I finally get that happy moment, with no death, no pain and no loss.

Forgot to mention this before hand guys thanks so much for over 200 views for this and The girl and her snake story. I really appreciate it :)
