A soft knock wakes me up from my slumber. I manage to crawl out from Harry's arm and open the bedroom door.

"Hey, uh, can we talk?" Drew's soft voice asks. I nod and step into the hallway, squinting from the light.

After closing the door, I follow him into the living room. We both sit at opposite ends of the couch, and I wait for him to explain why he's waking me up at 6 am.

I also notice Audrey isn't in sight, implying she went to her room last night.

"I don't know what to do El," Drew's voice is raspy, layered in sleep. "When I woke up, she was gone. Why didn't she stay?"

"Maybe she just thought the couch was uncomfortable?" I suggest like it's the most obvious thing in the world. His shoulders sag, not appreciating my comment. "Okay, sorry. I just think you're reading too much into it. Besides, you guys need to figure your shit out before you get high expectations."

He seems to like my second answer more. He eagerly nods before stifling a yawn.

"Get some sleep. I'm sure Audrey wouldn't mind you climbing in bed with her," I smirk, yawning back.

I swear yawns are contagious.

"Yeah, I don't think I want to be castrated..." he laughs. "I'll take the couch."

"Here," I go to the linen closet and pull out a thicker blanket. It's a little chilly and I don't want the poor dude to freeze to death.

He thanks me and lays down on the couch. As I'm heading back to my room, he calls out my name.

"Why did you say you only had two blankets, when you just pulled out a third?"

Busted.

Instead of replying, I wink and turn off the light. He quietly chuckles behind me, making me smile.

When I finally get back to Harry, he pulls me in tight, like he hasn't seen me in ages. It warms my heart because it's an involuntary response. He misses me, even in his sleep.

I try to sleep, but my head is flooded with thoughts. This is the first time I'm truly alone in silence.

My mind wanders to everything that's happened these past few weeks.

My heart hurts for Niall. Even though he had a small crush on me, I still feel like I hurt him. I kinda led him on, even if it was unintentional. Like at the ball, he kept chasing after me.

Even though he knew, I feel bad. I just hope he finds his own soulmate one day. Whoever she is will be a lucky girl.

Then there's Zayn. I'm appalled at his behavior. I know he's detached, but I never knew it was that serious. Maybe his choice made him the way he is? He did say he was engaged, so that proves he has the capability of love and emotions.

Honestly, who's to say? As much as I hate to say it, I've only been a part of their lives for a couple of months. We don't really know each other.

Harry's phone repeatedly buzzes.

"Harry," I groan, wanting him to shut it off. He hums in his sleep but doesn't wake up.

Annoyed, I feel around for the device. Once I find it, I go to silence it.

Being nosy, I check to see who's contacting him so early in the morning. The contact name is listed as Manager.

I debate whether to wake Harry up. If his boss is calling so many times, it must be important, right?

"Harry," I shake his shoulder, trying to wake him up. "You have a phone call."

He groans in his sleep but doesn't budge. I decide to pick it up. I know his manager, hell he was my boss for a little.

"Hello? This is..." I start.

"Harry! What the hell man, your flight is leaving soon, and you're still sleeping?" The voice hisses back. I don't think he heard me answer the phone.

My heart races. Flight? Is he supposed to go back home?

I hang up before his manager can speak again. Should I wake him up?

Rage starts to fill me. He could have told me he's leaving. He doesn't even seem to care, considering he's basically passed out and gonna miss his flight.

A hardback book catches my eye. Before thinking, I pick it up and slam it on the floor. He shoots up from the bed and looks around, panicked.

Once his eyes meet my glaring stare, he smiles.

Okay, not the effect I wanted...

"Hey baby," he lazily smiles, not even acknowledging my death stare.

"Oops, accidentally dropped his," I say through clenched teeth. He shrugs and pats the bed, implying I should go back to sleep.

Either he's bad at reading signs or I'm not intimidating enough.

Letting out a big huff, I spin on my heel and walk straight out of the room. Without thinking, I sit on the single couch in the living room.

"You okay?" Drew's voice snaps me out of my anger momentarily.

"I didn't mean to wake you."

"It's okay," he sits up. "It's basically morning anyway. What's wrong?"

I debate ranting to Drew. He's my ex and I don't know what our boundaries are when it comes to current relationships.

"You can tell me, I'll try to be helpful," he shoots me an encouraging smile.

I nod and scoot on to the couch he's on. "I'm just sick of the back and forth Harry and I do. Either he's here or not here, and his plans are always so last minute, I feel like I don't know when he's here."

He gives me a pitiful smile and I regret telling him. If I wanted pity, I'd tell literally anyone else.

"Nevermind, it's dumb," I add quickly, hiding my disappointment. Maybe I'm overreacting?

"No, it's not," he defends. "You have every right to feel that way. Why don't you permanently work for him?"

I scoff at this question. "Drew, I'm not going to up my entire life like that. I want to see my family and go to college. It just wouldn't work."

"Why not?" He pesters. "You can make it work. If you're really meant to be, this is a small issue. No matter the distance, you should be able to make it work."

He's right, but it isn't that simple.

"I think the first step is telling him how you feel," he adds.

"Oh Drew, when did you become so sensible," I tease, feeling lighter already. Although none of my issues have been solved yet, talking about it helped. He laughs and I join him. "Do you want some coffee?"

"I guess, nothing else to do."

I walk into the kitchen and he pads in behind me. I start the coffee machine and wait for it to run.

"You should follow your own advice," I blurt.

"Yeah, I guess I'm a hypocrite," he awkwardly chuckles, running his hand through his already messy hair.

I hear footsteps coming from the hallway, and I try to judge who's coming. I figure it's Harry, considering they're heavy. I half expect to see him with a suitcase, ready to go. Relief washes over me when he's still wearing his PJs. Well, sweatpants. At least he isn't only in his boxers. As much as I don't mind, I'm sure Drew would.

"Can we talk?" He softly asks before sending a glare to Drew, who's oblivious.

I nod and follow him back into the bedroom. As I pass Drew, he gives me a small smile and shoots me a thumbs up.

"What's wrong?" He asks quietly, as if he's fearing my answer.

"Nothing," I say, annoyed. How does he not get it?

"Don't do that. Tell me," he whines.

I run my hand through my tangled hair. "I'm just frustrated, okay?"

He waits for me to elaborate.

"Your manager called, saying you're going to miss your flight."

His mouth forms an 'O' shape. "I-"

"No, let me finish," I huff. "I don't mind that you have to be in and out all the time. I understand that, and it's your life. What bothers me is that you don't tell me these things."

"Well-"

I interrupt him again. "You should tell me if you're leaving. I would at least appreciate a heads up. I have feelings too, and I'm going to miss you. If I hadn't picked up, would you have just left me? Without an explanation?"

He grabs my shoulders in an attempt to get me to shut up. "Please, let me get my word in."

I shrink down and let him speak.

"Good girl," he pats my head. "Anyway, I'm not going home today. I had a flight, but I canceled it the day I got back. I missed you too much, and there's no way I'm leaving for a while. Especially when things are good. I'm sorry, I'll tell you in advance next time, okay? As for my manager, I didn't tell him I canceled it. He would have killed me if I did."

My heart flutters. "O-okay," is all I manage to squeak out. I'm taken aback by his response, expecting him to be annoyed with my clinginess.

"That's all?" Amusement tugs at his lips. I pull him into a hug, squeezing him tightly. "I can't breath," he jokes. I squeeze him even harder, knowing it barely affects him. When I pull away, he teases me more. "So, you do miss me when I leave."

"Shut up," I mutter, fully separating from him.

"Make me," he challenges, his eyes lit up for the challenge. I roll my eyes at his childish and give him a small kiss on his lips. Before he can deepen it, I turn on my heels and walk away. "Come on," he whines from behind me.

I go back to Drew, who's watching the coffee pot intensely. "Hey," I whisper, breaking him out of his daze. "A watched pot never boils."

He slightly jumps at my presence, but then relaxes. "Sorry."

I wave it off and smile. We both stand around, waiting for the coffee to be done. If I'm awake at six in the morning, I desperately need it.

Once we get our caffeine fix, we both sit on the barstools at the counter. The silence is comforting, and I'm glad things aren't awkward between us. It feels like our relationship was so long ago, even though he still had feelings for me a short while back.

Time passes quickly and soon enough, Audrey struts in the kitchen. I notice she's wearing her cutest pajama set. They're also her most revealing.

A small grin plays at my lips as Drew gawks at her. He scans her whole body and a slight blush spreads on his cheeks.

"Hey guys," she chips, flipping her long blond hair over her shoulder. "How long have you been up?"

I wait for Drew to respond, but he's too distracted.

"A few hours," I mumble. "Um, I should wake Harry up and maybe make some breakfast," I excuse myself to give them some alone time.

I hear Drew awkwardly stumble over his words as I leave, and I no longer hide my grin. They're so damn cute.

"What are you so happy about?" Harry inquires as soon as I shut the bedroom door.

"Just them," I sigh happily. "How long have you been up?"

"What? We're far cuter than them," he scoffs as he gets up and takes long strides toward me. He pulls me into a tight hug and rests his chin on my head.

"I don't know... I think we've been slacking."

"Are you saying I'm not cute?" He fakes hurt, but his smile breaks through. "That's so rude. It's not like you do anything in this relationship."

"Hey!" I defend myself. "I do a lot." A fake pout makes its way onto my face. Instead of reassuring me like I hoped, he just laughs.

"Okay, keep thinking that." He ruffles my hair and I scrunch my nose. As soon as my hand is free, I attempt to smooth it down. "Speaking of me doing things for you, we have a busy day planned."

"What are we doing?" I ask, hoping he gives me a hint about what to wear.

"I'm teaching you how to drive," his white smile grows on his face.

A/N:

Just a heads up, this story has 76 chapters plus an epilogue! We're way more than halfway through! That's exciting! I'm going to try to update more frequently.

I also published the first chapter of my new story, 'Unexpected'! It's not a fanfic, but just a cute, cliche story! If you're into those types, feel free to give it a read!

I really enjoy reading your comments! Please remember to vote if you enjoy the story :)
