Home?
Peter's POV
My dad hates me. I can't go back to that tower. I can't face everyone knowing my own father hates my very existence. What if they think that too?
I am shaken from my thoughts by Hiro. I must have been mumbling to myself as he has a look of worry and confusion plastered onto his face.
"Sorry." I mumbled, twiddling my fingers anxiously.
"Stop apologising Peter. You haven't done anything wrong." I catch myself before apologising once more. I feel the bed dip besides me and feel a comforting arm drape around my waist.
"They don't hate you Peter. They're your family."
"Dad hates me." I whisper barely audible. Why do I always end up with the shitty parents? My Parker luck never fails to truly fuck up my life.
"Yeah well if your Dad can't accept who you are then he can fuck off. You are perfect, Peter. Don't let one bully make you think any different." I sink into his shoulder, holding back my tears. I have cried enough today.
"Thank you Hiro." I mumble into his chest.
"Your welcome." The room goes silent for a while until Hiro suddenly jumps up with a mischievous smile on his face.
"Wanna go on patrol?"
---
"Jesus Hiro slow down. Not everyone has thrusters." I exclaim collapsing on to a roof in order to catch my breath.
"Sorry." Hiro giggles, landing on Baymax in front of me. He climbs of the robot and holds out his hand to pull me up. I take it, but instead of standing up I pull him down with me.
"Hey! No fair!"
"Consider it punishment for leaving without me." I giggle.
"Hiro there are multiple incoming heat signatures. All appear to be circling the building. I suggest we leave immediately before-" Baymax is cut of my the rooftop door swinging open, revealing Steve, Bucky and Nat.
Hiro steps in front of me, staring them down. My fists ball of their own accord as I shoot them an equally defensive stare.
"Kid we're not here to fight. We want you to come home." Steve states, dropping his shield to prove his point. Only now do I realise no weapon has been drawn. It's enough to make me relax. Not Hiro though.
"What makes you think he wants to after the way Mr Stark treated him." He spits, gripping my hand protectively.
"Hiro?" Natasha questions raising her eyebrow.
Shit! They're not supposed to know about him. Shield hate him and now the avengers know who he really is. I tug on his hand trying to get him to leave but he stays rooted to the spot.
"Yes it's me. Now give me one good reason why Peter should go back there."
"Because it's his home and we miss him." I scoff slightly and avert my eyes. Home. Living with a father who hates your very existence is not a home. More like a prison.
"Sorry but I'm not coming back. Not for a while at least. Tell Tony I said bye." Steve winces at the venom in my words and I feel slightly guilty. I shouldn't be taking my anger out on them, especially as they are trying to help. But I can't go back to the tower, not yet at least.
I turn to Baymax who picks me up. Hiro climbs into his back and in a heart beat we are hundreds of feet in the air. We fly back to Hiro's place in complete silence, trying to digest what just happened.
I shouldn't feel this guilty. If Dad can't accept me then I don't belong there anymore. Right?
