"What just happened?",Fray asked as soon as we returned to the shed we were supposed to meet up.

"How are your powers working and ours aren't ?", she asked. She had this accusing look on her face. What was that for? Is she suspecting me?

I remained quiet for a second as everyone stared at me waiting for an answer. I sighed while shaking my head.

 " I don't know why I still have my powers and you guys don't but that is not even the thing we should be focusing on,we have to go back to get Kyle ".

"Ok whatever I guess", Fray said.

"What is your problem?", I shouted.

"You are my problem", Fray shouted back. "Accusing me of being a sellout and now you're trying to shift the topic off why you have your powers and we don't maybe you're the spy".

"Shut up Fray, the dude said he doesn't know and I don't know about you but I  trust him. I don't think he would  cause harm to someone he has been with for so long and I don't want to be listening to your constant bickering on this issue because unlike you I want to get my friend back", Blake said glaring at us.

She opened her mouth to argue against it but closed it and stepped back. 

" I agree so we need to figure a way to get back in to save them.", said Aquata, nodding.

"Yes but don't you think we need to prepare ourselves first? I mean yeah we need to get our friends back but what's the point of jumping back in when they have something up their sleeve?", Cinco asked. "We gotta have a solid plan.

I nodded my head to that.

" You're right. We need to plan this thoroughly before we go back, they clearly have an advantage over us with whatever they are using to cancel out our powers", I said as I leaned back against the wooden post.

" Ok so as we all saw back there I had my powers and you guys didn't. I want to check if it only affected you guys there or if it's on a broadscale so can you all check to see if your powers are back?. I want to be sure of something".

"Sure", they all nodded and began checking. 

They all did their thing and nothing happened and I did mine also and it worked. 

"Why are you guys affected and I'm not?".

"Maybe it's because you're the chosen one?"Blake said with a questioning look on his face.

" Yeah chosen alright", said Fray with a bitchy tone. I rolled my eyes and ignored her.

"Hmm maybe.I couldn't use my powers at first though until I tried again and it worked though it took some effort and I could feel that my powers were slipping away somehow each time it gathered, but that still doesn't explain how they managed to stop your powers."

"Gas", Gaiah suddenly says and I stopped to think. "Yes, It could have been like the ones they were planning on using on us the first time  there. We could have all inhaled it when we came in without realizing. They must have released them through the air vents because they knew we were coming. The gas seems to be odorless because we would have picked up on it once we came in.

It's the only logical explanation", Gaiah finished looking at me. 

"I don't think it's gas", Z said, shaking her head.

"What is it then?", I asked, raising  an eyebrow.

" It might be a dragon core. In Alycone my father once spoke about a dragon core some long time ago. He said it is a strong power only a few can rival. I don't know what it looks like strangely enough considering I'm the princess but I heard tales that it changes according to the welder", Z said looking at each and every one of us.

"I heard of that once also growing up", Fray agreed nodding.

I nodded "Well at least we have two theories now. It seems this thing, whatever it is,is affecting everyone's powers so I'll have to be the one to go back for Kyle and Dawn because I'm the only one with powers, I can't risk you guys getting hurt because of me."

"what?, you cannot be serious. You need us in there",  Aquata said.

"I agree with Aquata, Cass. You can't take all this pressure on you.  If we don't have source powers we have manpower. We're here to help", said Z coming up to touch my hand rubbing it. I looked into her eyes and grabbed her hand to kiss it. Her gaze turned soft to me and mine also did. I almost caved but I became firm once again. I can't afford them becoming hurt.

"No, I need you all to stay alive, what use are you to me if you don't have your powers and  you end up dead. I'm going to have to worry about whether you're safe or not," I said, raising my voice. 

Aquata took a step back looking offended and Z looked a bit shaken.

"Hey Cass relax", Z said, rubbing my arm.

I pulled my hand away from her.

 "I can't relax Z, you didn't see the look in his eyes back there, he looked broken like he gave up on fighting. He didn't even say anything when we reached there, h-he trusted me to get the job done and I failed him. I failed him Z and the worst part is he didn't even look disappointed, he just looked numb. Like he was lost".

I shook my head in disbelief.  "He was right there, right there.I should have tried harder to use my powers.I should have done something", I said frustrated. Running a hand through my hair I stormed outside to try and get some fresh air.

I looked around and realized that there wasn't anyone there. Not like it once was, the first time we came here it was a bit more lively. I guess everyone was occupied with either fighting or preparing to fight. I sighed. Everything was going wrong and I couldn't help but feel like it was all my fault. I was supposed to be the 'chosen one'. Kyle trusted me to do what's right and where did it lead me?

No where, we weren't winning, I have no idea what I'm doing here. Maybe when the gods were choosing they chose wrong because I am no savior, I let everyone down. 

I held my face in my hand and sat down on a huge branch nearby when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked up to see Fray. 

" Hey", she said.

"What do you want", I said, my tone was a bit hard.

"Look, I didn't come out here for that. I came here to talk so can you please just lay off. I could be a bit more bitchy if that's what you want", I sighed and shifted over to give her a seat. She sat down.

"Thanks, now that wasn't so bad now is it?".

"Hmmm".

"When I first met Kyle all I could think of was who the heck is this guy, he's always joking around about how he was the most handsome guy ever. A matter of fact I thought he was an arrogant self centered asshole the first time I met him".

I snorted at that. Of course she would think that

"But after getting to know him he kinda rubbed off on me you know, I got to know that he was more than what meets the eye and he especially wouldn't stop talking about his infamous best friend."

I turned my head to look at her "he did?"

Fray smiled at me "Yeah he wouldn't shut up about you, how you would save both worlds. I could tell he cared for you and I can tell you care for him. 

My point is he wouldn't give up so easily, that's not the Kyle we know right. He has to have something up his sleeve and even if he did give up he wouldn't want you to give up on him because he wouldn't give up on you"

"Yeah, Kyle has always been a survivor, he's been through too  much, we have been through too much."

Fray sighed and placed a hand on my hand and looked at me "Look Francis, I'm sorry. We are a team and a kingdom that is divided against itself will fall. I think we should put whatever feud behind us and work together ".

"I guess", I said, agreeing.

"I'm sorry too for accusing you without evidence just because of your place of birth. That was wrong of me. I didn't look at you as an individual but as a part of a larger puzzle. Forgive me".

"Hmm,I will forgive you on one condition. You have to promise to let us help you and you will not be so hard on yourself. You are our chosen one, If you don't unite us who will?. We all depend on you for a happy future and even if it looks like the light is hardly blinking there is still hope for us. The creator wouldn't give you a  task you wouldn't be able to complete".

I got up quickly off the branch and nodded looking her in the face. "You're right. I needed that. Let's go back to the team, we have some planning to do ''.

In the meanwhile on a vast field at the border of Alycone and Evermore.

" Captain Michaelson watch out!".

Screams that made your blood boil echoed over the entire area. Although the precise source of the noise remained unknown, it was so loud that it could be assumed that millions of people were responsible.

The sound of loud impacts bounced off the walls of fallen structures as a small family of three sat in a small shaded corner to hide away from possible death.

Feet stomped loudly,the sound of guns went off. Horses and dragons at each other's neck as men and women  in strange clothing fought each other.

The  little girl looked up into the face of her mother who held her suckling babe closer to her,trying to warm him.

"Mommy are we gonna die?". 

The mother gazed down at her child with tears gathering into her eyes. She didn't realize that she was applying too much pressure on her baby boy but she released the pressure as he gave out a soft cry, moving a little.

"Rosia, I don't know.Maybe we are gonna die. I don't want us to die, but if we do we will be happy. Remember our dream of that cottage in the meadows and us reuniting with your Father?Perhaps we will see him soon.  Lord Rion please save us",The woman,Kimerah cried pulling her daughter in for a hug  to comfort her but it wasn't just for her it was to comfort them both. She prayed for someone to stop the war or at least to  spare her children. She didn't want them to die but she was losing hope. 

Just then what seemed to be a bomb went off about 10 feet from where they were. She grabbed her children closer and bent over them in a protective manner. "Someone please help us' ' , she prayed to anyone listening because she couldn't bare to see her children die.
