Lyra

I was at the border of Avermore, a couple miles away from the Healers house for about an hour now, waiting for my adopted father to show.
I had called him to come about a couple of minutes ago with the healer's phone after she gave me the go ahead to be discharged. I had to call this off, I wanted to be out of this plan. I couldn't betray Francis anymore. I couldn't deny him anymore, he is whom my soul loves. My true loyalty must lie with him.

I was seated at a log looking up into the sky to see at a distance a dragon flying towards my location and I immediately knew it was King Maximus, he was on a big white dragon he had for all of my life. I grew up seeing him with that creature as his companion. As he drew near I felt the wind pick up as he was near landing.

I could never understand the Alyconians' love for those creatures. I much prefer my car, I mean it was cheaper to maintain, not that money was a problem and it was less loud. As he landed he patted his dragon on its snout and came towards me.

"So, why did you summon me here, and what are you doing here?" ,enquired King Maximus. I took a deep breath before speaking because this was the first time I'd ever go up against him for something this important. I had always thought about doing everything he asked as a means of saying thank you for raising me and always being concerned about me..

"I can't do this father",  I said, answering his first question only,he raised his eyebrows at me.
"Do what Lyra?", he said as he questioned.
"Hurt innocent people, father, betray Francis anymore. I want out. I don't want this kind of revenge anymore, not at the cause of innocent lives ", he laughs at me shaking his head. Does he think I'm joking?

"I didn't know you were such a joker,child. Is this that boys doing Lyra, are you going weak because of that insolent other-worlder ".

"No father, innocent people are being hurt, people from both our and Francis's World".

"I see, so he has made you weak." Although he spoke with a calming expression on his face, his tone was hostile.

"I'm not weak father, if anything he has made me stronger".

"No Lyra he has made you weak, trying to move you from your true destiny. You were supposed to fulfill what we planned. What we were working towards all along".

" No Father, I'm strong, stronger than ever. He has made me realize my mistakes. All I wanted to do was end those who hurt my people and my parents but you wanted to end everything no matter if it's innocent or not to get what you want which is power". I said, shaking my head.

" I should have killed him and his friend but at least we've captured them so at least the torture can begin soon.",he said as his hands tightened into a fist at his side. What? Capture?
"Lyra, come back to my side this instant,that boy will never love you like I have. He is stopping you from getting what you've been working for so long".

" No father, he wants what is best for me". King Maximus laughs.

"He wants what's best for you?, I want what's best for you. I know you. I'm the one who has been there for you for so long and you say he wants what's best". He shouted at me and I flinched.

"Yes Father".

"That's not what my spy tells me, that boy doesn't care about you anymore and I doubt he ever will not after what you did to hurt him". I looked down upon the ground as shame hit me but looked back up as I realized he said something about someone I never heard about before.

"Spy, what Spy?", I asked curiously.

"The spy is one of our persons, she knows their true plan and if you want to avenge your parents and help your dear father you will come with me. Your mother worries about you", he said,  stepping towards me but I took a step back. Holding my hands up to stop him.

"Are you okay? I knew you were stabbed by that boy of yours. Don't you see that he is bad news, he nearly took you away from me",He says coming closer to me.

"I am fine and I was the one that jumped in the way. It was an accident". I said moving away from him.

The king shakes his head, "Open your eyes princess, he's not good for you. Stop being ridiculous and come home to your family."

"No king Maximus I have made up my mind, I will not join you anymore", king Maximus looks me into my eyes as if to see if I'm joking, he takes a deep breath through his nostrils and his eyes replaces the soft look and it becomes firm with determination.

"If that's what you feel then princess Raeranthura,I look forward to seeing you on that battlefield ",he said as turns his back to me to go towards his dragon and began flying.

I felt a little uneasy because I just ended my relationship with my dad and I felt unhappy about the things he said to me but at the same time I was happy because I can now be with Francis guilt free.  I took off running to reach back to Francis, about 30 minutes later I reached the grounds of the healer's house only to find Francis standing outside on the compound waiting. His back against a tree.
"Any reason you left me Lyra, you know I don't like being played with ''. Francis had a scowl on his face, I know he has some trust issues now because of what I did, so I made a mental note that once this is all over I would make sure that I work on healing our relationship.  I began taking a seat on the bench
" I did it, Francis , I tried again with my father and I got some insight".
"Are you sure you're not lying to me Lyra. You took off without informing me and now you told me you're in contact with your Father".
" Francis, you've got to put this behind you. I did this for us. Now listen, my dad mentioned some things about having people all over and I heard him talking about capturing some people from your side, you friend,Kyle".

Just then Francis realized what he had done.
"Shit I have to get out of here, I left Kyle and the guys shit,shit,shit", he said, holding my hands above his head.  I suddenly sat up off the bench and asked what the time was. I took out my phone and realized that we have been gone for 7 hours.
"Kyle is going to kill me. I was supposed to capture king Maximus",  Francis told me.
I looked at him shocked and I suddenly remembered something." Cass my father set a trap for you guys, your friends are in danger", I told him with wide eyes.

"What!", He shouted while standing up. "I have to get out of here".
" I'm coming with you".
" Z you just got stabbed." He replied
"Im fine, Marty said I was healing rapidly. I even got discharged, remember?".
"Yeah healing, meaning still in the process".

"Please Cass, I can try to convince my father again one last time to call off all of this. I let you down once, I want to make up for it, please I'm okay. And if anything I can be of help in beating their butts plus I'm healing see", I lifted my blouse to show him bruise that had almost disappeared.

"Okay fine,let's go quickly", he said.
I looked at Marty that was coming outside the building and said '' Thank you Marty, I owe you one". She nodded and told us to be careful and continued her journey.
Francis opened a portal to the palace and we walked through. We went to King Maximus's Wing and saw the king and queen talking. They turned around and the queen gave out a cry. "My baby" she cried and ran to hug me,her daughter.  Francis eyed king Maximus, "where are my friends?",he asked.
He smirked wickedly. "Thank you for bringing my daughter back to me".

Francis stepped forward and I released the hug with my mother and jumped in front of him.
"Father the war had to end, it's over, Francis is my soulmate and I am spending the rest of my life with him. I'm done with the violence.
King Maximus laughed, "I know I said see you in the battlefield but your mother refuses to give up on you so stop being delusional sweetie, come back to your father before you make the other-worlder corrupt your mind any further".

"Father I am serious, I am tired of the fighting, you have to accept this. Call off the war or I will leave with him and never return."

All of a sudden the king tried attacking Francis but he dodged it, grabbed me and quickly teleported us out of there to the shed we were supposed to meet up.
"What do we do now?", I asked. He looked in thought. "We have to find a way to get them out undetected."
"How many of them are there?".
"Kyle, Fray,Blake,Gaiah,Cinco,Aquata and umm Dawn yeah so 7 of them"
I looked at him shocked.
"King Maximus has a spy and that person has been telling him everything", I gulped suddenly feeling nervous then said "And it's one of your friends".
"WHAT??",He replied.
