The guards struggled for a while as they tried to get free from my grasp. I had been practicing and was now better at controlling my powers. So their attempts to get down were futile. They cried out for 5 minutes before they passed out. I realized this and let them go, they fell to the ground with a thud.

I quickly stepped over them and ran in the direction Francis went. I hope he's okay and that he's getting the job done. A part of me is a little worried that being here will trigger him and he will lose. focus once he sees Lyra. She still has him wrapped under her finger even if she's not here.

I ran and ran still on high alert in case I saw any danger when I heard the clashing of swords. I came to an immediate halt when I saw Francis and the Queen's wife fighting. The queen seemed to surrender and Francis looked like he believed her

because he started lowering her weapon but I didn't buy it for a second. She had to have something else up her sleeve. Looks like I was right when she slowly pulled out a knife and charged at Francis. What I didn't see was Lyra running towards them.

"Nooo'', she shouted. As she jumped in front of Francis, the sword was now in her. I froze when I realized what happened and so did Fran. I snapped out of it and ran towards them but Francis opened a portal holding a bloodied Lyra in his hand.

When I reached where he was all I saw was the queen on her knees in shock. She was looking at her hands that held the knife. I approached her slowly and she raised her head to look at me. Tears falling down her eyes, she said. " You and your people did this and you will pay for this with your death. Guards!!".

Before I could react some guards quickly grabbed me from behind. I tried to free myself from their grasp but there were too many. So I used my powers and knocked them out.

"Ahhh, let me go, let me go".

My head snapped towards the voice. It was the queen holding a knife, the same knife she tried killing Francis with to Dawn's neck. I looked closer to see droplets of blood running down her neck.

"I told your friend already but I'll tell you again, you all lose. Don't you see, we are more powerful than you'll ever be. YOU.CANT.WIN."

"Listen, take me and let her go." I pleaded.

"Aww, but Where's the fun in that?. That person that you thought was your friend is actually my spy. He told me all about your little plans. So I know that you have a soft spot for little Dawn here. So you know I had to torture her. She's stronger than she looks, not strong enough though." She said while moving Dawn's hair from her face.

She then turned to look at me. " Oh and if you're worrying about your other friends then don't worry they're fine being held captive in my dungeon." She smiled deviously.

I slowly started to walk towards them. "Ah,ah,ah, take another step and she dies. Do you want to be responsible for her death, your parents would be so disappointed." She pouted.

I felt rage coursing through my veins as I tried to access my powers only for nothing to happen. Confused, I tried talking to the mushrooms but nothing. I didn't hear them. The queen must've seen the confusion on my face because she started laughing.

"Are you trying to use your powers?, how do you think we are controlling all of you? Your powers are gone or more like we took it."

"You're lying".

"Am I though?".

I couldn't even say anything as some guards grabbed me and Dawn and brought us to a dungeon. "Hope you rot in here", the guards laughed.

I looked at Dawn and she was trembling in the corner. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry", she cried. "It's okay, Dawn, it's not your fault". I told her as I rubbed her back trying to soothe her. "Francis is out there, he will come back for us",I told her. I hope, I thought.

Looking around I noticed that the room was small and dark with only a small window for light. The walls were made of cold rough stone and the air was thick with the smell of mildew. I could hear rats scurrying about.

I held her face with both hands and tilted her head so she was looking into my eyes despite the dim light we could still see each others face."Hey look at me, we're going to get out of here. I promise. Where did she catch you and where did she put everyone else? If I can figure out a way out of here I can try to find out how she's blocking our powers and stop it."

Dawn looked a bit shaken up as she tried to speak but couldn't. That's when I remembered her neck was bleeding. I quickly tore the bottom of my shirt and put pressure on the wound to stop the bleeding. Luckily it was just a graze and the blade didn't go very far.

" It's okay, you don't have to talk". I told her. She shook her head and opened her mouth to speak.
"The others they're safe for now, but I think we should try and find them before it's too late."
"Where is she keeping everyone else and where did she catch you. " I asked her.

" I saw Blake go into the palace so I followed him to see if he wanted backup and that's when our powers went out and guards came out of nowhere and took me away. That's when the queen came and cut my throat." She answered, holding her neck.

" When I get my hands on her she'll regret ever touching you. "
" I overheard the guards saying they were holding the guys in the dark room, I don't know what that means."
" It's the part of the palace they put you to die, we have to get out of here", I got up and pulled Dawn up beside, after which I checked her to see if she was okay then tried prying the lock open.

" It's no use".

"I know that but you have to try",I said as I knocked the grill in frustration.
" I can't let them die, they can't. I'm a failure just like my parents predicted, I was a fool to think we could have done something here and now because of my stupidity my friends are going to get killed".

Dawn came closer to me and looked up at me. "You are not a failure, we can still make it out of here. None of us wouldn't be here if we didn't believe in you. Don't listen to your parents, you are beautiful on the Inside and out."
"Hey isn't that supposed to be my line?",
Haha, she laughed. " I can call you beautiful too".

The room was dimmed but I could still make out the outline of her face. She had a round face with rosy cheeks that rose when she smiled. She had a big dimple in both cheeks that I love. And her laugh makes me weak in the knees. I touched her lips and stroked them slowly. They were soft, like her. Her personality was different from girls I've encountered within the past and it intrigued me how a simple girl like her could be simply so perfect in my eyes.

From the moment I first met Dawn, I knew she was someone special. The way she smiled, the shyness I could sense about her, and the way she looked right in me with her bright, blue eyes all made me sense that she was the one my heart had been searching for.

From that moment, I was eager to kiss her, and I could tell she felt the same way and I knew it was only a matter of time. I could feel my heart pounding as I leaned forward, and even though the wait seemed like an eternity, when our lips finally met it was worth it.

The kiss was electric and everything I had imagined and more. She tasted like honey and sunshine and my world suddenly stopped and it felt like nothing else mattered. The kiss seemed to go on forever, and for that one moment, I was living the fairy tale.
Our embrace deepened as her hands moved up and down my back, and as we kissed I could feel all the sweet anticipation between us melting away like sunshine, as our hearts grew more connected.

The kiss seemed to last forever, and yet ended too soon. I pulled away, feeling like my heart might burst with joy. She looked up at me, her eyes filled with happiness and contentment. "I've been waiting for that kiss for a long time,"she said with a smile.

I smiled back and took her hand in mine. "Me too,"I said. We stood there for a minute just enjoying the moment, and knowing that nothing else mattered. I finally felt home.
