Sev

The trooper who had just released her removed their helmet to reveal the worn, tanned skin covered in stubble. His hair was cut back into the standard clone cut. A huge red tattoo dominated the left hand side of his face. Apart from the armor he was wearing, he also carried a backpack.  "The name's Sev."

Delta Squad echoed through her head. " You're that Commando from Delta Squad, the one that was confirmed as MIA on Kashyyyk, aren't you?"

Sev's gaze met hers. "I'm not here to talk about my life," responded Sev, with a serious look plastered to his face. "I'm here to get you out of here. More like we are." The other troopers gave her a small wave, as they adjusted their weapons. He pulled off the back pack and handed the clones a pile of detonators. He turned back to her, as he reached into backpack, once again, and pulled out a silver stick and a cloak.

Instantly recognising that the stick was in fact one of her own two lightsabers, a small smile crept on her pale face.

"I was ordered to give this to you." Sev handed her the lightsaber. She studied it for a second, counting all of the scratches, paint marks and its small engraving of House Kryze crest.  She gave it back to him. "I'm done with it."

Placing the cloak in her hands, Sev carefully hooked the saber to his belt. He then pulled out a beige poncho for himself and forced it over his head. He put his helmet back on. "I hope you still know how to use a gun then."

Jade turned around to see that the other clones were now also wearing a poncho.  She could tell that they were all looking at her as if she was their General still. But she wasn't anymore.  "I'm sorry..." she murmured.

"All right then boys," said Sev, raising his gun. "Let's make a memorable exit." He turned just in time to see the turbolift door open.  Sev made the first move as he and the boys were met by a gang of Storm troopers, already trying to blast them to pieces.

He ducked and rolled behind several supply crates. He threw one of the chargers at the bucket heads. A row of eight troopers dropped down dead, as a new batch emerged from the smoke, trampling over the bodies.  The other clones followed in pursuit and threw their chargers, knocking down over thirty bucket-heads as they blindly entered the ongoing battle.

Jade stood behind them and reached out with her hand, sending a small group of the stormtroopers flying into a pile of crates on the other side of the open air hangar. She ducked as the troopers aimed their fire at her. "Concentrate your fire on those tanks!" she yelled at two troopers as she pointed out two fuel tanks right beside an imperial shuttle.

Pressing their attack, Sev and two of his men came out from behind the crates and began directly attacking the stormtroopers.  They managed to take down half of platoon of the current wave of the troopers. But their victory didn't last for long.

Lurking out of the smoke, Darth Vader ignited his lightsaber as a group of his useful stormtroopers marched to his side. A wide snarl crept across his face. "Hello, Jade." His cloak dropped to the floor. "You didn't even say good bye. How rude." His volcanic eyes met her gaze as he began walking towards her. He nodded as his troopers s they began to attack Sev and his men.

One by one, both of the troopers dropped, like dominoes, defending their ground. Sev was the only one fighting for his life now. Sweat poured from his face as Darth Vader deflected every shot he aimed at the Sith Lord right back at him.

The useful troopers surrounded Sev. Vader's cyborgs raised their guns, mindlessly unaware of what they were doing, directly at the Delta Squad clone.

Sev eyed his chances of escaping this were slim. He unhooked the lightsaber from his belt . He tossed it into the air, bang on queue,  as Jade flipped into the air and caught the lightsaber. A pain in his chest shocked through his body. He looked down to see a hole pierced in his armor. His knees buckled as he fell to the ground.

Its turquoise shimmer illuminated her face as she turned to Vader. "Let's end this. Here and now." Her bony body moved its self into her dueling stance.

Vader ran at her, bashing his lightsaber against hers. The cracks of both blades as they clashed together created small sparks of energy in the colour of orange. When he attacked, she blocked. She knew Anakin Skywalker's weaknesses. She had to tire him out before she could make her attack. She looked back at Sev on the floor, almost, if not, dead.

Vader had killed everyone she loved. Everyone she cared for. Her brothers. Her Masters. Her family.  Her friends - all of them. Now he was going to pay for this. All of of it. He was going to die at her hand. She would be the one to finish this. Then she would kill Palpatine.  No, she told herself, This isn't the Jedi way

Eliminating revenge from her goals, Jade sank down in the Force and felt it guide her. She could feel a mass of unstoppable energy reaching the surface. She was going to use this energy, not for revenge, but for balance.

A smirk appeared on Vader's face. He knew what she was going to do. He made his attack. . He cut through the blood and flesh of her arm.

Pain channeled up her spine, like a snake strangling its prey to death. She fell of the ground, as blood gushed of where her arm used to be.  Her lightsaber rolled across the ground. She looked back at the lifeless Sev and then back at Vader, her breathing shallow and rapid. She was useless now. It was time to become one with the force.

"That's no way to treat my daughter," said a highly familiar voice from behind her. "My old apprentice."

"You survived the purge then." snarled Vader, grinning with delight as the thought of being able to personally end the life of his former Master crossed his messed up mind. "Obi-Wan Kenobi."

"Dad..." murmured Jade, as she coughed up the energy to roll over on to her other side to see the sight of the ginger Jedi, also known as her adoptive father, ignited his shining blue blade.

"You're safe now," he gave her a small smile as he dramatically lept into the air, beginning round two of the fight against the fallen chosen one.

Pulling her self over to Sev, Jade shook the fallen clone and got a small groan in response. "Hey soldier."  she said as she removed his helmet to see the crumpled up face of Sev as he woke up. "Don't move."

"Sir, your arm..." he managed to blurt out. "Your arm..."

"I'm fine, Sev." Using her good arm, she peeled off his chest plate and put pressure on his wound. "It's just an arm."

"I see your "daughter" still loves caring for those pathetic war machines that were made to be disposed of."  snarled Vader as he locked blades with Obi-wan for like the millionth time in the past two minutes.

"She's a talented young lady who loved you!" replied Obi-Wan as he eyed the stormtroopers surrounding all  of them. "They're clones aren't they. You've stripped them of their individuality. You did this to them?"

Author's note - Delta Squad

I love playing Republic Commando with my cousins. Its one of the best games LucasArts has ever made, aside from the Force Unleashed,  of course. I wanted to bring these guys to this book because they are amazing and I love their Legends story line a lot  more than what their role in Canon is. Some of you have probably never heard of Delta Squad but others of you have. (I've read an awful lot of Star Wars novels in my short lifespan and played a lot of games) They need their own Clone Wars ARC and a new game.  Sev is my favorite. Who's yours and why?

Here they are in The Clone Wars:
