Reunited Part 2
Why did I even agree to this....? Cody sighed as he looked at his favourite helmet. It may have looked worn and seen better years, but it was still apart of him and will always be. Well, maybe, not now. Leaving the ships common room to use the refresher, Cody accidently left his helmet with two four year olds, with crayons. Upon his return, the two young Skywalkers had presented him with a "gift". That "gift" was his helmet with lots and lots of crayon scribbles permanently plastered to his helmet. "Thank you." he smiled, trying not to lash out at Padme's darling angels.
"You're welcome!" giggled Luke, as if he was the mastermind behind his helmet's torture. Luke was the oldest out of the twins - by give or take thirty seconds so he usually led the twins missions, often getting away with them, except for the time he shaved half of Obi-Wan's wise beard, followed by half an eyebrow.
Rolling his eyes, Cody turned his attention to little Leia, quietly sitting on the floor behind another book. This time it was a flight manual. It looked quite old, but non the less, the wanna be ace pilot was quite keen to get through it. Highly intelligent for a four year old, young Leia devoured any new information you fed her, and even corrected adults if they ever made mistakes. "Tell me, what would you do if you were a pilot?" asked Cody, now sitting next to little Leia.
"Easy," replied Leia, keeping her head in the flight manual. "I want to explore the galaxy and be a squadron leader."
"When you're older," smiled Cody, "I could teach you everything I know, and I know a few pilots who could help as well. Who knows, you might become the best navy pilot around."
"I am and I will beat all of Anakin Skywalker's records as well!" she declared, unaware of who her real father was.
The ship jerked, knocking Luke off his feet. Rushing over to scoop up both of the four year olds, the clone looked out of the ship's window to see several TIE fighters picking on the ship. "Luke, Leia, stay calm. We'll make it out of this. I promise." Cody sat the twins down, strapping them in. "Don't move. I'll be back." Whacking a button near the edge of the common room, the windows blackened out, Cody rushed to the cockpit.
Co-piloting the ship were Padme and Satine, wrestling the ship away from oncoming TIE fighters. "Cody you're on the guns!" Ordered Satine, trying to find a clear path. Desperately wanting to get out alive, Satine flipped the ship, causing two TIE fighters to crash into each other. Her blonde hair was pulled back into a ponytail, minus any of those strange earrings, with what appeared to be turquoise skins, with black boots. "And, yes I do own a set of armour. Now, move!"
"Yes, Ma'am." saluted Cody, climbing up a ladder, leading to his favourite spot on the whole ship. Speeding to action, he planted himself on the seat, and began to fire, gently swinging the turret around. Bringing down several, TIE fighters, Cody had managed to clear a narrow path. His eyes searched and searched for more TIE fighters - they were like wasps, when one was in trouble, a whole swarm of them would appear from thin air, almost making it impossible to make it out alive. Sighing with relief, he poked his head into the cockpit. "I think we can make the jump."
"No, not yet." replied Padme, shutting their ship down. "We don't have Obi-Wan and Bo Katan." Her hair was stuck to her head with sweat, all of those lessons from Anakin and Ahsoka had paid off. Relaxing a bit, she rolled her shoulders. "I wish we didn't have to keep the truth from Luke & Leia. It's getting too dangerous. For all of us."
"I know, Padme." Satine placed a hand on her shoulder. "I know that if we keep on fighting, we can give everybody a better future. Have faith, Padme. I've got a feeling that something is about to happen."
"We've got a ship exiting the atmosphere!" yelled Cody from the turret. "And it's being chased by TIE fighters. "Yay....?"
==========================================================
"How does the Empire keep letting us steal these?" asked Wolffe, casually staring at a swarm of TIE fighters trying to kill them. "And why is nobody worried that the Empire is out to kill us?"
"We've had this one for two years now." replied Ahsoka. "We just have to keep robbing clearance codes, but these ones didn't work. Plus Anakin is piloting."
"Now where's that fiancé of yours, 'Soka?" asked Fives, slightly annoyed that he hadn't has the chance to squeeze his brother to death.
"Try the med cupboard," she suggested, getting up from her seat. "I'm going to pilot with Anakin. Send Rex to the cockpit when you're done with him. Don't kill him." Commander Wolffe eyed her. She had just made a huge mistake.
"Yeah of course I'm going to kill my own brother, who's back from the dead, because he held a knife to my neck!" yelled Fives, already out of the room. Feeling the painful stubble emerging from the depths of his face, he sighed, before marching off to the make shift medbay. Pushing the medbay's door's button, the door slid open to reveal a draughty, dramatically lit room. It was larger than Ahsoka had been making out. There was enough space to treat eight people at once, complete with a dated platoon of salvaged and reprogramed med droids.
"I could come back later," said a voice from the far side of the medbay. "I have much more important things to do now. Please don't put that needle near me...OW! I SAID DON'T PUT THAT KRIFFING NEEDLE ANYWHERE NEAR ME! OY! AREN'T YOU LISTENING TO ME?!"
Why did this voice sound so familiar? Oh yeah, thought Fives, it belonged to the Duke of Mandalore...but why was he on this imperial shuttle? And why was he complaining? I thought Dukes weren't allowed to complain about stuff in front of the public...unless...
Walking past six beds occupied by unconscious clones, the voice's owner came into view. Pinned down to the bed by two med droids, was everybody's favourite tea drinking guy - Obi-Wan Kenobi. Bruised and battered, Kenobi looked like he wanted to rip the med droids' heads off. His usually combed hair flopped over his torn face. His violently squinting eyes searched the room...he wanted to escape from this hell hole.
"General Kenobi, " asked Fives, clearly concerned for the ginger general, "Are you alright?"
"I would be if these idiots would stop pinning me down." replied Obi-Wan, trying to free himself from the droids' surprisingly strong grip. "Where are my manners. Its nice to see you Fives. You haven't aged a bit."
"You can thank Echo for that..." sighed Fives. "You look terrible by the way. So how did you end up here?"
"Huge fight against Vader," shrugged Obi-Wan, happy to have seen some action. "I nearly died, but Jade and some of your brothers saved the day, but at a huge cost."
"Jade's alive?" quizzed Fives, with a hint of excitement. He stared at Obi-Wan who kept eying a curtained off corner. An anxious façade covered his face. "What happened?"
"She was duelling Vader....lost an arm... and healed a commando c;one called Sev. She sent Vader packing, before collapsing." replied Obi-Wan, watching the med droids backing away from him at last. He stood up. "Follow me," he ordered. Walking over to the curtained off corner, he pulled the nearest curtain ajar and gestured Fives to enter.
A tear rolled down Five's face. He sat down on the edge of the med cot, careful not to crush its current occupant. "Is she going to make it?" Hooked up to a load of over the top monitors was the body of Jade. Her sleek black hair was somehow pulled into a side braid. Looking carefully, he could make out a mountain of bandages pulled tightly around her left shoulder.
"Nobody knows," sighed Obi-Wan. He didn't want to lose his daughter, not just after their reunion. "To tell you the truth, I haven't told anybody else but you about her. I don't think its fair for everybody to have something else to worry about."
"I know how you feel, General," responded Fives, slightly concerned with what the consequences of lying were. "But, when you faked your death, General Skywalker didn't trust you for a while.
"Talking of General Skywalker, he's umm.... here. Piloting the ship."
"Anakin's alive?" freaked Obi-Wan, "How is that even possible? Darth Vader consumed him." This was too much to take in. First he fought Palpatine's puppet, tortured by med droids and now his apprentice alive. Why can't I just have one normal day anymore? Why couldn't I just be on the bridge of a Jedi cruiser, or at least getting married, with everybody in the right place? When can I retire? No...I'm too young for that. I just need a fleet of ships, soldiers and tea. Lots of tea.
"The last time I checked," corrected Fives, being a smart arse, " Vader basically took over."
"I'm going to the cockpit." declared Obi-Wan, rolling his eyes at Fives. "Do you mind coming with me?" He looked at his daughter, remembering their first encounter. Without realising he had shoved Fives off the med cot and had taken his spot, gently brushing a strand of rebellious hair out of her face. "I have no idea if you can hear me Jade, but, as your Dad, I'm ordering you to wake up some time soon. I don't want to lose you again."
"Nor can I," said Fives slightly annoyed. "I promise that we'll get away from this annoying bunch of misfits for a few days - with Rex in the background monitoring us for no creepy reason." He looked at Obi-Wan who had his arms folded, with a raised eyebrow. "What?"
"Never mind," smiled Obi-Wan. "See you later, Jade." Looking at his daughter one last time, he leapt up from his surprisingly comfortable seat, before planting a kiss on her forehead.
"Don't move," ordered Fives, scruffing his sister's head. "Or we won't be able to find you again." Leaving his sister was harder than he thought it was going to be. Turning his head back more times than he could count, Fives eventually made it out of the medbay, tailing Obi-Wan.
===================================================================
Excitement screamed through out his body. He was flying. It was the one thing he'd missed, that didn't involve dealing with Obi-Wan's complaints. Anakin Skywalker happily sat in the pilot's seat, happily outrunning the colossal swarm of TIE fighters. It may have been text book flying to him, but just having the controls in his hands brought back many joyous memories with Ahsoka, Rex and the boys, and even Obi-Wan (more like blowing up ships...). Not forgetting those competitive races with his squadrons and their leaders.
But... he loved being on the ground, leading his battalion into a deadly battle. Unlike some of his fellow Masters, he was always on the frontline, keeping an eye on his troopers, backing them up when they needed help. When Ahsoka had ordered him to be the get away pilot, he felt kind of left out, but he knew it was for a good reason. It would have been awkward if he had encountered his other half. Next time, he was going to lead his team, and do what he wanted. Or at least have a bigger role, and not follow orders to the letter. He would do the only thing that a Skywalker could do. Improvise.
Hiss.
Feeling a gust of cool air mess with his awesome mop of hair, he turned his head to see his apprentice sit down in the co-pilot seat. "Hey, Snips." he smiled.
"Hey Skyguy." returned Ahsoka, casually activating several scanners. "We should be able to dock with another ship in a few moments -but it's deactivated, judging by how many life forms are at point two. So, do you mind taking us there so we can get out of here."
"And who is on this ship, Ahsoka?" demanded Anakin, slightly furious that his own Padawan never told him the full mission details. Doesn't she trust me? Does she think I'm Vader?
"Anakin, I trust you with my life. I always have." replied Ahsoka, reading Anakin's distressed thoughts. "You are not Vader. We're meeting with a contact - Commander Cody, and a few friends." Sighing, she stared at the empty gulf of space they were heading in to. It was awkward and agonising enough leaving the Temple on her own terms, but after not seeing him for almost half a decade, she was struggling to get used to seeing him again. To her, he was just another dream of the past, except he wouldn't disappear, making him real.
"You told me he served the Empire." replied Anakin, aggressively controlling the ship. "Ahsoka, are we walking into a trap?"
"No!" snapped Ahsoka. "You never let me finish telling you what happened to him. Cody nearly let that kriffing chip control him, but at the last second, he managed to throw his pistol to the ground, and knocked himself out, letting a very injured Obi-Wan escape. He served the empire as a double spy - until he was discovered. I helped him escape. He's operated by himself for the past few years, feeding my rebel cell every plan the empire had to us. It's his way of apologising for nearly killing Obi-Wan."
"When Cody allowed me to escape," said a very familiar voice from behind them, "me, Satine, and a very special person in your private life, Anakin, made it our duty to protect your children."
Standing up from his seat, Anakin turned around. Lost for words, he just stared.
"Hello, Anakin." smiled Obi-Wan.
