(What do ya think of her? It may not be EXACTLY how you picture her and that's okay but telling ya!🤗)

Setting: Key Household, Macaylee's School

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Collins sat at his computer station in his bedroom working on editing the newest Youtube video with high concentration. It was about 11 o clock at night but the young man didn't feel like going to sleep. He was too focused, too concentrated. Collins dragged and dropped, propped and filtered his way through the video till he felt himself grow thirsty. Without removing his attention from the Apple product, he reached with his arm towards the countertop next to him for his coffee to find nothing there. He felt his hand around the surface and still couldn't find it. Confused, he turned his head towards the table and saw his drink was nowhere in sight.
He furrowed his eyebrows, Weird..I know I left my coffee here. Suddenly, his ears detected a sipping sound next to him. Collins turned his body quickly in that direction to see a little girl sitting criss cross on top of his bed, drinking from the warm cup. The Key boy was shocked to see her at first, but then rolled her eyes with a smile laugh, "Mac, seriously go to bed!"
Macaylee, or Mac for short, took her lips from the cup and just said with a pout, "Oh, come on bro! Just five more minutes.." The older brother stood up and walked toward her, "Sorry, sis but you have school tomorrow," he looked down and snatched the coffee from her hands, "and what did I say about drinking this stuff? You're going to be flying off the walls now." The little one innocently preceded her argument, being led into the bedroom by her older brother, "But everyone in my grade drinks coffee! Plus, what's the point of school anyway? It's so boring and nothing good comes out of it." Collins sighed, turning the corner into his sister's room, "It helps ensure not all humans turn out to be lumps on a couch. Look on the bright side, you're about halfway through the year and 8th grade will fly by and then you'll be in high school.."
He frowned, realizing that the little one was growing up..she wasn't so little anymore. When Collins didn't hear Macaylee respond, he was worried, "Mac?" The man looked down and saw the young tot sneaking past him into the hallway, her giggling giving her devious scheme away. The older brother laughed, "Oh no you don't!" Mac squealed as she saw him start making his way towards her, beginning to chase her around the hall. Eventually, Collins had his long arms wrapped around his victim, who squirmed in his grasp, her long brunette hair whipping the boy's face.
They cackled amongst each other, possibly too much in fact as a door slowly opened behind them. It was Devan, whom looked exhausted, "Can you guys be quiet? I'm trying to get some sleep..." Collins lowers his laughs when he noticed the dark lines under his brother's eyes as he rubbed them tiredly. Wow, I knew my brother was tired but not THIS tired. He smiled at him lightly, "Bro, you good?" Devan silently nodded, "I'd be better if you two could be a little quieter.." Mac groaned at him, "We're just having fun, Dev. You don't need to get your undies in a bunch." The sleepy one stared at the girl with a slight smirk, "Being a little snippy, aren't we?"
The two stuck their tongues at one another light-heartedly. Collins just watched them with a smile, "You two are just too much sometimes." Devan yawned suddenly, leaning on the door, "I wouldn't be if I could get some rest.." The other boy just said, "Okay, bro. I'm just getting this little stinker to bed," indicating the sister by fluffing her long locks. Macaylee scrunched her nose at him, "Awe but Collins.."
"No buts, time to get in bed or mom and dad will freak seeing you up this late." Mac frowned but started to walk to her bedroom, "You're no fun..," she spoke to them with her grin full on her face, "Night Dev, night Collins." The two called to her simultaneously, "Night, Mac.." The young girl started to shut the door and the flicker of light coming from inside disappeared. Collins felt his heart become airy, "I love her." Dev agreed with him, staring at the wall, "Me too.." The older key looked over at him, seeing he was dosing off just by standing there. Collins placed his arm on his shoulder and shook him, "Devan?"
Devan's head shot up at the sudden shock and realized Collins was talking to him, "What?" The other hesitated, not able to take his focus off the black lines under his brother's eyes, "Bro, how much sleep have you been getting?" He didn't answer and just rubbed his face, "I really don't know..but I'll get better sleep tonight, I promise." Not wanting to argue with him, Collins plastered a smile on his expression, "Good..I'll see ya in the morning, Devan."
"Same to you, bro." With that, all three of the siblings exited to their rooms, unsure what will be awaiting them the next day.
{Time Skip}
"Can I have some more bacon, Devan?" Macaylee asked, sitting at the kitchen table, her mouth full of pancakes. Her brother grabbed the pan from the stove and placed two strips of meat on her plate. Collins lifted his fork up to his lips and took a bite of sausage, "Make sure you eat all your eggs though, Mac. If you don't, I'll eat them for you." The teenage girl moaned and pushed her dish toward him, "Please do.." Willingly, the older boy took the girl's scrambled eggs, looking happy to enjoy them. Mac grabbed a piece of bacon and chewed on it happily, "Man, I love this bacon, Devan! Did you really make these?"
"Yep, it's all in the art," the boy said confidently. Collins looked over at him as he stood by the stove, beginning to shut it off, "Hey bro, aren't you going to have some?" With a stutter, Dev glances at him slightly and answers, "Uh..I'm not that hungry this morning. I'll eat something around lunch time." The other dude found himself to question his brother's actions. Why was he acting weird lately? I don't understand..
Collins's thoughts were soon interrupted by the voices coming from the hallway and the sound of plastic wheels on the hardwood floor. Anne and Steven came into the open, with kind smiles on their faces, "Morning kids."
"Good morning," they all said, dropping what they were doing to go and hug them. Their dad began to speak, "We have to head to the airport now or we'll miss our flight." Mac whined sadly, "I wish I could go with you guys to Florida.." The mom bent down to the little girl and stroked her face, "We know you do, but it would be boring for you guys to come along because we'd be working the whole time, and we don't have tickets for all of us." Steven spoke to the three, "Please behave yourselves while we are gone, and Collins," he turned to his eldest son, "You are in charge so make sure you keep the house tidy, get Macaylee to school-."
"I know, dad. I've done this before no worries," Collins said, reassuring the man. Wearily, the mother saddened, "We have to go now, we'll see you all in a few days!" They all spoke their farewells, hugging all around and with that there parents were gone.
Macaylee and her brothers finished getting ready for the day and they needed to get the young one to school. Collins went for his keys and grabbed them, "Okay, let's get moving," he turned to the other boy, "you coming too, Dev?" He saw him shrug and answer, "Why not, I don't have anything better to do." They exchanged a laugh as Mac went to grab her bookbag, "Let's go!"
So the siblings piled into the car and Collins began to glide on the road, with Devan in the passager seat and Mac in the back. It was silent as they all were in deep thought and the older one flipped the knob to turn on some music. The dim sound of "Happy" by Pharrell Williams started to play. Collins tapped his fingers on the steering wheel to the beat and he looked over at Devan who smirked at him, tapping his foot. The older key looked at the mirror to see the young girl humming to the song. Collins began to grin, "Don't be shy now, sing!" Macaylee looked up at him and grew nervous, "I don't know.." Devan helped with the issue, "Come on, Mac! You have an amazing voice! Show off those pipes!"
"Or I'll start singing," Collins added, beginning to belt along to Pharrell which was very out of tune. Dev covered his ears strain-fully, "Make it stop!" Mac waved her arms out, "Please don't, Collins! I'll sing if you shut your mouth." Obediently, the older one stopped, satisfied with his work, "Alright, then sing." The sister giggled and began to trill along with the melody;
"(Because I'm happy)
Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof
(Because I'm happy)
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth
(Because I'm happy)
Clap along if you know what happiness is to you
(Because I'm happy)
Clap along if you feel like that's what you wanna do."
Finally, the vehicle reached the front of the school, cruising next to the sidewalk. Collins twisted his body to look at his sister, "Have a nice day, Mac!" But once he saw her, the older brother had a sense of  worry coming off of the girl. "What's wrong," the older brother asked cautiously. Macaylee looked up and she fumbled with her words, yet it all came out so swiftly, "Oh..I'm just not very happy to go back to that prison they call school." She laughed making the other boys believe her excuse. Collins thought there was something else but chose to ignore it, "Okay, love you sis! Remember you're riding the bus home today, okay?"
"Okay, love you, Collins! Love you, Dev!" Mac called before shutting the door and waving them off. She smiled, watching them drive away but soon she frowned. Don't leave me here..
{Time Skip}
Macaylee sat at recess, watching the groups of classmates have fun with one another, chatting or playing sports on the field. But what was she doing? Sitting on the grass, all alone. She never seemed to mind that she had no friends, it gave her time to do her favorite things like writing music or just think about her day. But what really made it worse being alone, she was very vulnerable to bullies. By bullies, mostly mean girls. Mean girls like Jessica Diamond, the most popular girl at school. One thing she didn't understand was out of every nerdy kid in their grade, why Jessica chose HER to be her target.
Then she saw her: Queen Bee with her evil posse who followed her every word and notion. The mistress had long braided strawberry blonde hair, she wore one of the most scandalous outfits in her closet, and had a full-out makeup job that everyone obsessed over. Honestly, it reminded Mac of a clown who was trying too hard to impress, however; it did get her alot of friends and boy's attention. Macaylee wanted to wear makeup too because maybe it would've helped her locate someone that wanted to be her friend, anyone! But her parents weren't fond of the idea, saying she was too young to have to use that sort of stuff.
Jessica stood awfully close to where Mac was sitting and she was able to hear every word they uttered. She wasn't ease-dropping. If they were going to have a private conversation, they should've chose a better spot to gossip. She lifted her ear to listen;
"But oh my gawd! Did you see their eyes?! They penetrate my heart!"
"His hair! Did you see his hair in the video??"
"Hands off, Shelby! Devan is mine!"
"But, Jess..I thought you had the other one."
"Collin? No way, he's not as hot as Devan! But I dig his manliness and the younger key doesn't have any so.."
Macaylee groaned to herself, hearing their agonizing words. They were talking about her brothers again... A weird thing about that group of girls was that they were obsessed with the Key Brothers, yet the boy's looks were the only thing they cared about. Obviously her annoyed behavior was noticed by the group because they turned toward her and began to surround her.
Jess crossed her arms with a demonized look in her eyes, "Well, look who it is..it's Mac! Wow, I never thought I could get to see you with all your adoring admirers who just love you," she did a fake gasp, "Oh wait! I forgot, you're just a loser with no friends. Maybe it's because you have a boy's nickname and no one wants to be associated with the ugly girl," her friends laughed along with her, as she continued her soulful words, "Like, can someone get a paper bag to put on her face? It's blinding my innocent eyes!"
Macaylee just glared at her, betting she's been exposed to gorier content. She fired at her, "Can you just leave me alone, Jessica? I'm not doing any harm to you just sitting here! What do you have against me?" Jess lifted her perfectly arched eyebrows she probably waxes everyday and she squatted in front of her, "Well, not really anything. It's just so easy to make fun of you, like everything is wrong with you," she began to pick out her bad traits, "Your ugly shaped eyes, your split ends, your lopsided lips; the list goes on," she stood up and pulled the girl with her, "your stupid missmatched outifits, your boring personality, and you're untalented as —-,"
Mac didn't hear the last word as Jessica pushed her down into the dirt. The mean girls surrounded the terrified bean as she felt her eyes water. Don't let them see your pain..YOU'RE STRONGER THAN THIS! Macaylee forced the tears back and yelled at them, "Just shut up already!" The prissy brat smirked at her bubbling anger, "Or what?" Jessica mimicked a whimper noise, "You gonna cry to your mommy?"
"No, I'm gonna get my brothers here to teach you guys a lessen!" That's when Jessica began to laugh harder, "Oh give that sob story a break! Just because you all share the same last name doesn't mean Collin and Devan are your brothers." Mac stood up again facing the diva, "It's COLLINS, Jessica! Also you are wrong!" The girl gave a sly smile, "Am I?"
Not loosing eye contact, Jess gave her argument, "First of all, how come we've never seen you and the boys together in one spot? Like for back to school nights or your—or should I say my choir concerts, your parents may have been there, but I've never seen them with you. Also if you guys were "siblings", then why haven't you been on their Youtube videos? Unless if you're going to tell me that they are embarrassed by you, I won't believe it."
Macaylee frowned at the Jess's starting altercation. It was true Collins and Devan never went to her school events. They were either touring or busy doing their projects for social media. Also she was told by her parents that she wasn't allowed to be in the Youtube videos until she was in high school. But it did hurt when Jessica made everything come into view. Jess put her hands on her hips, "On top of that, have you seen yourself," she jabbed her finger at Mac's chest, "You look nothing like them. You have a different skin tone, dark hair and brown eyes. You are hideous. They are gorgeous and have light colored hair, blue eyes and a lighter skin tone. You have freckles, they don't. Most families with two boys don't give birth to girls, plus do you realize the age gap? We're at least 6-8 years younger than them. Isn't that a little weird if you were really siblings?"
Macaylee never really thought about that.. Sure, she's always noticed she looked different than the other two, but she assumed it was normal. But now..it didn't make any sense. Confusion filled the girl's brain and Jessica just grinned at her, "Face it, you're imagination is all over the place. Get a grip and stay out of where you don't belong." With a hair flip, she and the other girls were gone.
Mac just stood there, watching them walk away triumphantly at their success. They broke her. Why do I not look like them? Is it just genetics or was it something else? I don't understand anymore. Wiping her eyes hastily, she slumped into the grass again and sat there.
{Time Skip}
Devan laid in his bed looking up at the ceiling. Collins ran to the post office to pick up a package for their parents, so the young key stayed home in silence. He didn't feel like doing anything. Not art, not sleep. Just blankly staring at the wall above him. It was quiet in the house. Peaceful? Not really, but it wasn't awful. Unfortunately, that was all going to change.
The young boy heard the door open from downstairs. He assumed it was Mac, but just continued in his same spot. It wasn't as if Devan didn't want to go see her..except he didn't feel like leaving his room, his comfort zone. Why did it suddenly become his comfort? He had no idea.
But something did make him question getting up; the erupt banging sound of a door shutting and a bag being thrown against the wall. What was that? Devan moaned sitting up, walking over to his door and opening it. His eyes met Macaylee who was running in the direction of her room, sniffling all the way there. "Mac," Devan began to say until the door slammed shut on the hinges. The brother walked hesitantly to her bedroom and spoke softly, "Macaylee?"
"GO AWAY DEVAN!!" Abruptly, Dev pulled back when he heard her yell. What was wrong with her? Unsure what to do next, he went to his room and grabbed his phone to call Collins. Devan picked up his phone and dialed the number. His brother answered after three rings;
"Hey bro, what's the haps?"
"Uh...I think you should hurry to get back here."
"Why? Is something wrong?" Devan glanced at the hall and back to the phone, "It's Mac. Something is up with her." He could feel Collins freeze up, "Oh..okay. I'm on my way." Devan hung up and stood there a little apprehensive. Hurry up Collins..., he thought to himself tensely.
{Time Skip}
Collins came into the house cautiously, glancing in all directions. Devan started coming down the stairs, "Bro, she's in her room." Without more thought, the older one made his way towards Macaylee's bedroom. He got up to her door and twisted the knob; locked, "Mac, open up please."
"No!"
"Come on, let me in so we can talk about this!"
"Leave me alone, Collins!" He was about to speak again but bit his lip. Mac wasn't usually like this, the boy had to be more sensitive. Collins sighed as Devan patted him on the back. It didn't help. Maybe I need to lay off her..but I want to know why she's closed off, Collins said in his mind. All he did was say, "Look, I don't know why you're shutting yourself away, but just know...me and Devan will always be here. We're your brothers and we are here for you."
Silence was the only thing heard for a long time, Collins and Devan still stayed in their place in the hallway. The door began to open slowly after a clicking sound of the lock being turned, causing the boys to smile. Mac came into view and tears were streaming down her face. Collins felt his heart go out to her and bent down to give a reassuring hug. He wrapped himself around the young one to find she stood stiffly in his arms. Devan hung back seeing it all, Collins embracing the young girl but she ignored it.
The older brother pulled away slowly, noticing her firm stance. "Collins," Macaylee began to say, her body shaking. The young man forced a happy yet uneasy expression hiding his concerned feeling, "Yeah, Mac?" She swallowed her tears not looking away from him, "Am I your sister?" Relief swept over Collins and Devan comprehending that ridiculous question. The eldest felt himself laugh a little, "Of course you are, why wouldn't you be-"
"Am I your biological sister?" Macaylee remained serious staring into the boy's crystal blue eyes. Catching that interrogation resulted in Collins freezing up, his breath beginning to cease it's easy flow. The other boy followed that action as well and just looked at his brother for his response. The blonde boy just asked forcing a small smile, "Where did this come from?" Mac ignored what he asked and persisted, "Tell me the truth..am I your biological sister?"
She was trembling while she waited for him to speak. Collins didn't know what to say. He decided to come right out and say it, "No...Mac, you aren't," he felt his fingers through his hair, letting out a shaky breath, "You are adopted..." Macaylee felt her heart began to shatter into a million pieces, "You all..lied to me." Devan said softly behind, "Mac.." She didn't listen, "All this time..everything! It was all fake!" Collins stepped closer to her, "Macaylee, it isn't like that at all..we just didn't want to tell you because—," he felt his throat close up, unsure what to say, "—be-because.."
Mac faced her head down now, the tears splintering through, "Wow..I can't believe it. To think I thought I had the best family..just to find out they really weren't." Collins reached his hand to the little one, "Mac, please let me explain—." Macaylee pulled her body away from him and hissed, "Don't touch me!" The man stopped in his movement, not sure what to do but stand there. It was a chilling wryness as Mac quivered in her spot and finally vanished into her room once again, locking it tight. Helplessly, Collins squinted his eyes shut with his heart in pain. What had they done? Devan thought the same thing, feeling more depressed than before. He put a hand on his forehead and tried to wrap his mind across what they should do next. What could they do next..but stand there in distraught.
