Jamila sat on the couch in the living room, wondering how everything in her life is starting to change. If not moving to a new town and starting school, but willing herself to do it. Never in a million years did she see herself taking this type of step with no one other than him, but since he's not a factor anymore, her whole thought process changed. She not so much, but the sulking that she has been doing would prove otherwise.

"I know it's not like home," Her sister Tehreem commented, coming out of the kitchen with her daughter, Mina, right beside her, "but it's yours now. You can stay here as long as you want."

Jamila stood up from her position on the couch to hug her sister, grateful that she listened to her. When Tehreem first came to her about coming here after her parents asked about a proposal, she refused profusely and held out for months. But the more she started to see her life going nowhere from her position of sitting in the shadows, watching others pass her by, she decided enough was enough. Being eighteen without a life plan wasn't working for her.

"Thanks for letting me stay here."

"You're always welcome."

Later that day she went upstairs to her room to pack, only taking a break for Salaah or to text her brother and sister. They are the closest siblings she has, and her upbrupt leaving when her sister is only months away from delivering saddened her, and made her feel guilty.

"Jamila."

"Hmm?" Jamila placed her phone down, turning to the person at her room door. Amna. "Did you need something?"

Amna pointed to the stairs, "Mom said it's time for dinner."

"I'll be right down."

While she was putting on her hijab because of her brother in law downstairs, she knew deep down that a simple dinner would make all her decisions real. And the outcome and future that she held for such dreams were still undetermined. But she still went and faced her new life, not letting anything stop her from living it the best way she could.
