"Goodbye, Ms. Everest. You will surely be missed." Said Ava's butler.
Ava sighed. Sometimes he just sounded like Siri. Saying what he was programmed to say. In spite of this, Ava was still going to miss him. Not that she wasn't used to it, she had already been in college for a year.
He had been with her family as long as she could remember. Although she was about four when he was employed, because before Ava was born, her family had been poor. She was proud that her father had worked to get his way to the top. She hoped she could be like that too. Ava guessed that college would be a good place to start.
"Thanks. You too. Tell my parents I say bye, will you?"
"Of course, ms. Everest."
They had offered to come with her, but she had declined.
Ava headed back to the school she had grown to love. She wasn't sure how it would be this year though. Seeing as most of her friends graduated last semester.
She didn't think it would take her too long to find friends again. She was a pretty social person.
She wasn't long back before she decided to host a party to aid her in the department of friends, or actually, her lack thereof.
"Oi, Ava!" Shouted a familiar voice.
"Hey Dan. How's life?" She replied.
Dan grinned at her. He was a friend from high school. Oddly enough, they had barely spoke all four years of that hell. But once they discovered they were going here together, they hit it off. No not like that, that's just, ew.
"You have no idea. I just got a girlfriend who goes here." He said excitedly.
"Oh, so is she a side ho, or main ho?"
He rolled his eyes.
"Neither, you know me better then that."
"Yeah, yeah. Don't remind me. By the way, I'm having a party tonight. Spread the word."
"You got it. Gotta split. See ya!" He called as he hurried off into the maze of freshmen, back to his room, presumably.

Blake knew his new roommate was probably inside by now. So he opened the door with hesitation.
Inside was a short Mexican guy, no taller then 5'6.
"Hiya! I'm Chad! You must be Blake Thompson." He said.
"Uh, yeah. Nice to meet you." Blake said.
"I hope you don't mind. I moved your stuff to the other side of the room. I was hoping for the side closer to the window."
"Actually I do m-" he was cut off by Chad's "great!". Blake decided to let it go.
"Did you hear there's a party tonight? Great place to hook up." Chad said, grinning. "You know, I've heard a lot of people say they regret not being more experimental in their youth." He added, looking Blake up and down.
By now, Blake was a little weirded out.
"Um, cool." He mumbled, setting up his stuff on the opposite side of the window.
Chad just kept going on and on. Blake wondered how he managed to keep the replies flowing, seeing as he hadn't really given him much to work with.
He sighed and tuned him out completely.
Suddenly Blake jumped up.
"I have to go."
"What? Where? I'll come." Chad piped up.
"Uh no, sorry. I'm meeting up with my girlfriend."
"Okay."
Blake sighed with relief, which was short lived when he saw Chad was coming with him.
Blake was in the halls, not knowing what to do, he went over to a random girl and said "Hi Julie, what's up?"
He said the first name that came to mind, which was actually his moms name.
The girl looked at him warily for a moment.
"Hi?" She said more like a question than a greeting.
"I'd better give you two some privacy. Take it easy love birds." Chad cooed from behind him.
As soon as Chad left, Blake felt blood rush to his face as he realized he had no idea what to say to this girl.
"I... Uh... New roommate, Chad... Didn't know..." He trailed off, looking at his shoes.
He was relieved to hear the girl laugh.
"That was funny." She laughed.
"Oh uh, yeah. Humour." He said, still a little embarrassed.
"I'm Ava, not Jules, by the way." She said.
"Julie." Blake corrected, then wished he hadn't.
"Oh, well I'm not Julie either. What's your name?"
"Blake. Blake Thompson."
"Well, Blake Blake Thompson. I hope to see you at my party." She said. Handing him a flyer.
"I'll be there." He said.

"This is sick, we literally just got here and we're already hitting it off with the cool kids." Dean said. "She is cool, right?" He added.
"She was hot, if that's what you mean," Blake said.
Dean nodded.
"But seriously, I don't know what to do with this Chad guy. I mean he was coming on me."
"Well, just tell him you're only attracted to girls." Landon said.
"But I am gay, but this guy's not what I'm looking for."
Landon and Dean made startled sounds. But Lacey and Anne just raised their eyes to the heavens.
"Well there's a big surprise." Anne said sarcastically.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Blake asked, slightly insulted.
"All girls know. If a guy's got the perfect materiel, then he's usually gay. Sort of like Murphy's law, I guess." Lacey said.
"Perfect materiel?" He asked, taken aback. He had always felt kind of like that "forever alone" meme guy.
"Duh, you're smart, sensitive, funny and stun-ning." Anne said, exaggerating the last two syllables.
"What about me? Did you think I was gay?" Landon asked hopefully, before shaking his head, realizing how weird that sounded.
"What, you jealous?" Anne teased.
"Oh yeah. Real jealous that my gay friend might steal my female friend."
Anne slapped him upside the head. "Not of me, of him." She said, indicating her head in Blake's direction.
"Well, I certainly ain't jealous of his roommate."
Blake snorted. "Hey, you can take him anytime you want." He offered.
"I'll pass."
"Thought so."

They all decided that going to Ava's party was defiantly on their to-do list. Despite Lacey and Blake being a little hesitant, having their classes start the next day and all.
They could hear the music blasting well before they actually arrived. Anne was less then pleased with the playlist. Being a DJ and mashup artist. She had actually joined a DJ club, though it didn't seem to be very active.
No one else had any complaints about it though, so they continued with their heads held high. Except for Blake, Blake was desperately trying to avoid Chad. But everyone else was, so they ignored him. Poor Blake.
When everyone met Ava, they were pretty surprised. Sure, Blake had said she was hot. But now that she was ready for a party, she could be the talk of the block -having practically daddy Warbucks in her purse defiantly helped-.
Ava really liked this group. She was shocked when she discovered they had only met that day.
"You guys act like you've been friends forever!" She mused.
"Well, Anne and I have. We were friends in high school." Lacey said.
"That makes sense. Us girls gotta stick together, am I right?" She called for everyone to hear. Everyone cheered. Though truth be told they could have been cheering for Hitler to turn into a mermaid and they'd be none the wiser.
"Swagalishous." Ava said to herself, due to the crowds reaction.
"Hey, where'd Anne go?" Lacey asked.
"I dunno, Landon's gone too." Dean said.
They all looked at each other while the silent realization crept over them. Then, all at once they started running around trying to get a glimpse of them.
"Here they are!" Lacey called.
