Quiet Evenings
This super short story is dedicated to my girlfriend, Winchester_At_Heart !!! Happy birthday baby, I hope you like it <3 These characters are new OCs of mine, heavily based on the two of us, and I'll definitely be writing at least one more short with them in it soon!!
The sizzling of cooking food, pans being moved around, and the soft humming of a theater song could be heard throughout the kitchen of a small London flat as Holly worked, stirring up the food in one pan before moving to check on another. It was calm and quiet, cooking was always relaxing and fun for her. She always enjoyed the activity, even if it could get a bit stressful at times, bustling around the kitchen to make sure nothing might be burning.
It wasn't too long before she had finished, flipping off the stove burner and giving it all one more stir to check it was all ready. Holly smiled to herself, going to the cupboards to pull out two plates. She huffed a little as she opened them, reaching on her toes to try and reach the plates. Bennett had moved everything up in the cabinets again to prank her. She could almost consider not even letting him have the meal she had cooked that night just for that. She knew really it was actually pretty funny, even if she would never ever admit that to Bennett. In the end she had to climb onto the counters to actually reach their plates, pulling them down finally and filling both of them with the food she had made.
She held one plate in each hand, beginning her trek through their flat and towards Bennett's office. The door had been left open by a crack, just for her. Bennett started doing that after she had accidentally dropped both of their plates trying to open up the door, not wanting a repeat of that, even though the takeout they had gotten instead that night was really good.
Bennett looked up with a grin as she entered the room, Holly returning with a smile of her own as she set his plate down on his desk. She set her own plate down next to his, grabbing the chair Bennett had put in his office just for her. She turned it around backwards, arms resting on the back.
"This looks amazing," Bennett said as he looked at his plate, then looking back up at Holly. "Thanks, baby."
Holly hummed in return, already picking up her fork to start eating. Bennett turned in his wheeled office chair to his mini fridge, pulling out drinks for the both of them.
"Root beer for the root beer addict, and cherry soda for my cute cherry," Bennett grinned as he passed the drink to Holly, referring to the nickname he'd given her based on her red dyed hair.
"Thanks baby." Holly smiled.
The pair settled into a calm quiet, the only sounds being that of forks clanking gently against plates and the occasional typing from Bennett as he worked. This was how their evenings usually went, spent together in the quiet of Bennett's office, eating together and just spending time close by. Words weren't always needed between the two of them. They always knew the other was there, and that was all they really needed.
"Oh, also," Holly spoke again after a while, giving Bennett a small, very non threatening glare. "You moved the plates again."
Bennett paused, taking in Holly's words with slight confusion. It took him a few moments before he was barking out a loud laugh, eyes crinkling at the corners and shoulders shaking as he leaned against his desk for support, choking out words between his laughs. "I-I-hah-I totally forgot I did that!"
"Of course you did," Holly sighed and shook her head, a giant grin visible on her lips as well.
