Astrid was born in Hokkaido, Japan, 2138, during The Fall, a period of time post the Rave Arrival. (Raves are enourmous white robot/mobster hybrids that invaded Earth, sending the world in chaos for 110 years.)

She moved to the US at the age of 10 after her mother was killed in a Rave massacre, and was recruited into a secret allegience at 17, whose main objective is to kill and capture Raves. Her father had already been working for the allegiance secretly.

Astrid, who is known for unintentionally disappearing in a crowd, was assigned to investigate rumors of a tournament, which was wrongfully suspected to be a hotspot for for illegally sold Rave parts. She joined, not truly understanding what she was really getting herself into.
