Luciana sat in the corner of an office with a doll in hand. She hummed to herself as she played. A S.H.I.E.L.D. logo shone just on the other side of the door. "Luciana, mija," A sweet voice echoed, it sounded like the voices of a million women that Luciana knew.

The little girl looked up and saw a woman hovering before her. The woman had a low sleek bun, and a few strands of wavy hair framed her face. She was dressed in slacks, a button-up with a blazer and a holster and badge on her hip.

"It's time to wake up," A man crouched down beside the woman, he had a neat beard and was dressed similarly to the woman beside him. "Go on."

The image swirled away and faded to nothingness.

The first sense to return was touch as Luciana felt a soft, but damp surface under her. Something was tickling her neck. She moved her head and grimaced as her brain pounded. Sound then returned as Luciana heard two familiar voices above her. The teenager then flickered her eyes open and was met with a blurry world, she blinked and reached up to rub her eyes. In doing so, Luciana noticed two things. One was that her hair was soaking wet and her skin was damp, and the other thing she noticed was that she was looking up at the night sky.

"Hey, easy, easy. You fell from pretty high," One of the familiar voices spoke slowly to Luciana. The figure gently wiggled a gloved hand under Luciana's neck and helped her sit up slowly.

Luciana looked to her helper and then her memories came back and everything clicked. An unmasked Peter was crouching next to her, his curls were damp. For a second the girl wondered why Peter was choosing to show his face to her, but she then became aware that her mask was missing.

Peter noticed his former best friend reaching a few fingers up to try and feel for her mask. "Sorry, I had to take your mask off, it was waterboarding you." The boy smiled sheepishly and held the black mask out to Luciana, who ushered a strained thanks as she took the mask from Peter.

Upon masking herself again so that she wasn't nearly blind, Luciana figured out who the other familiar voice was that had been hovering in the air behind Peter. Luciana's breath hitched in her throat as she looked at Iron Man. Sure, she had met him once before, but that had been for one second and he had ruffled her hair once before going on his merry way.

Peter decided that Luciana was no longer in danger of choking on her mask or dying for other reasons and so he leaned back against the jungle gym and continued his explanation to Tony Stark. "And then he just, he just, like, swooped down like a monster and he picked me and Ciana up and, uh, he took us up, like, a thousand feet and just dropped us," Peter looked briefly at Luciana, who was still trying to wrap her head around the current situation. He turned back to Iron Man. "How'd you find me? Did you put a tracker in my suit or something?"

"I put everything in your suit. Including this heater." Tony Stark explained and seconds later steam rose from Peter's suit.

"Whoa!" Luciana's eyes narrowed in jealousy "Whew, that's better. Thanks." Peter thanked Tony, forgetting about Luciana's existence.

Yet Tony appeared to not forget about the teenage girl on the grass. "You okay there......Luciana?" The hesitation before her name was probably caused by his facial recognition identifying her face.

"Uhm, yes sir." She muttered awkwardly as she tried to hide her shivering, earning a brief Stark nod before he went back to scolding Peter.

"What were you thinking?" Tony demanded. Then he appeared to remember that Luciana was also involved in the situation and appeared to glare at the girl on the grass.

"The guy with the wings is obviously the source of the weapons. I gotta take him down." Peter quickly defended, waving his hand in a random direction.

Luciana's brows knit together and she wondered if the weapons utilised in the bank robbery had been provided by the same winged guy. The weapons had been very destructive, something she'd expect from arms dealers who made black hole grenades.

"Take him down now, huh? Steady, Crockett, there are people who handle this sort of thing." Tony responded and Luciana almost chuckled, if it weren't for her feeling sick she actually might have.

"The Avengers?" Peter's eyes lit up a little as he and Luciana spoke in unison.

"No, no, no. This is a little below their pay grade." Tony waved them off, literarily.

"Anyway, Mr Stark, you didn't have to come all the way out here. I had that. I was fine." Peter spoke after an uncomfortable moment of silence.

"Oh, I'm not here." The helmet opened, revealing an empty space where Tony's face should have been. Luciana felt the pride of having stood less than five feet from where Tony Stark was, deflate. "Thank God this place has Wi-Fi or you two would be toast right now. Thank Ganesh while you're at it." Peter and Luciana shared a look. "Cheers." At that point, Luciana just wanted to go home and take a warm shower before crawling into her warm bed. "Look, forget the flying vulture guy, please. Both of you."

"Why?" Muttered Peter.

"Why? Because I said so!" Tony snapped. "Sorry, I'm talking to a teenager and his girlfriend," Tony said into the sky, a smile in his voice.

Both the teens' eyes widened at Tony's words "We're not-"

"We're... we used to be friends." That comment stung like lemon juice in an open wound and Luciana visibly recoiled from Peter's words. Sure, they hardly spoke anymore, but Luciana still considered Peter one of her friends.

Tony seemed unfazed by their answers "Stay close to the ground. Build up your game helping little people, like that lady that bought you the churro. Can't you just be a friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man? And you the Hummingbird from around the block?" He asked both of them and while Peter went to complain, Luciana's heart filled with pride once more. Tony Stark, the Iron Man, knew her superhero alias.

"That is not what you thought when I took on Captain America," Peter whined. The sudden realisation that Peter, who was a few months younger than her, had been invited to the fight in Berlin whilst Natasha and Clint kept Luciana away made the whole ordeal sting more.

"Trust me, kid. If Cap wanted to lay you out, he would've. Listen to me. If you come across these weapons again, call Happy." A car engine sounded in the background and Luciana was about to ask about it, but Peter beat her to it.

"Are you driving?" Tony didn't answer which Peter took as a yes and left Luciana wondering.

"You know, it's never too early to start thinking about college. I got some pull at MIT. End call." With that the call ended and Tony Stark left the two vigilante teens.

"No, I don't need to go to col- Mr Stark," Peter cried and Luciana frowned, no college? While she and Peter hadn't been good friends for what felt like forever, she didn't expect him to give up on their goal of going to MIT together. If Tony Stark had some pull and was willing to help Peter and hopefully, her, they could actually make that dream come true.

As the Iron Man suit flew off, the two teens sat together in an awkward silence. Peter seemed to be the one who had enough of it first. "So you're Hummingbird...." His voice trailed off as he looked at her.

Luciana smiled in spite of the situation. A dark lock of hair clung to her forehead and cheek. "And you're Spider-Man." She pointed out, hoisting herself up onto the jungle gym, sitting down beside Peter before taking a seat next to him. Luciana shivered again and rubbed her arms in an attempt to get warm, Peter hesitated for a second before wrapping his arms around her, his suit heater warming her up too.

"Thanks." Luciana's voice was barely audible as she enjoyed the warmth Peter gave off.

"You're welcome Ciana," Peter replied, using Luci's old childhood nickname that only Peter used. Rory hadn't liked the nickname Ciana and so started calling her Luci with an 'i', to make it unique and it caught on. Since then it was always Luci or Luciana

"Can you stand and walk?" Peter asked after a few moments and Luciana carefully set her feet on the ground before taking a wobbly step.

"Sort of," Luciana let out a shaky breath.

Peter slid down the jungle gym's metal frame to stand next to her. Luciana wobbled a bit next to Peter before wrapped an arm around her to help her walk a little better. Luciana after all was clumsy enough on her own, a concussion would probably make her walk into twice as many things as she usually would "Thanks, Pete." Luciana offered Peter a weak smile as they continued to walk.

Before long the two excited the park where Iron Man had dropped them and strolled into the suburbs. As the two teens walked through the suburbs, a faint glowing purple thing made Luciana shake Peter's shoulder as she pointed at the object. Peter let go of Luciana as he crouched down to carefully pick up the object "Whoa."

Peter turned it in his hands a few times carefully before walking over to Luciana and showing her the object that appeared to be some sort of energy core. Peter's annoying ringtone sounded and he passed the energy core to Luciana fully before taking out his phone and answering the call, Luciana winced at the loud sound, relieved as Peter started talking to either Aunt May or Ned.

The girl turned the purple glowing orb over in her hand and tried to figure out what exactly it was and what it did.

"Hey, man, what's up? I'm on my way back." Peter answered as Luci nodded to herself, definitely aunt May. Her thoughts stopped momentarily, of course, it was Ned, Peter would never call May 'man'. She groaned internally as she realised that she probably had some sort of concussion.

"When I say penis, you say Parker. Penis! Parker! Penis! Parker!" The faint voices that came from Peter's cellphone sounded probably meant that Flash had started DJing again. Peter sent Luciana a look and she smiled sheepishly and moved her lips to mouth 'sorry'.

"I'll see you tomorrow in school." Peter sounded disappointed as he ended the call before letting out a sigh. He slid his phone into a hidden pocket of his suit. Peter slid on his own mask again just in case someone decided to peer out of a window or someone was walking their dog.

Luciana stared at Peter for a moment, despite his mask she could imagine what his face looked like underneath. Subconsciously her lips tugged up slightly as she remembered an encounter of the two from when they were kids.

"Hey, Pete." Young Luciana sat down next to Peter, her black pigtails seemingly jumping up and down as she moved.

"Hi." Peter grinned brightly at her, his grin revealing a gap in his teeth.

"Guess what finally happened." The girl smiled at Peter and shook her head at all his futile guesses. After about ten guesses, Luciana took it upon herself to say what had happened. "The Tooth fairy gave me a visit," Luciana exclaimed as she proudly showed him her gap that matched his.

"We're matching!" Peter half shouted, happy to share one more thing with his best friend. He threw an arm around Luciana's shoulders and they laughed together.

◎ ◉ ◎

From missing the same teeth to becoming masked heroes, Luciana supposed Peter Parker and herself were doomed to always be matching.

"If you want to dry off more at my place before going home you can," Luciana eyed Peter's figure for a second, just now realising how much fitter Peter had gotten since they stopped talking. "I know May can worry."

Peter smiled at Luciana, not that the girl in question could see the smile. Still, it's the thought that counts. "Thanks, but I think she'll be more worried if I'm home very late. Thanks though."

"No worries," Luciana pulled her damp hood over her wet hair and shivered at the sensation. Oh, how she wanted her own built-in heater. "It's okay."

The duo strolled in silence for all but one second before Luciana decided to break it. "For the record, I knew you were Spider-Man." Luciana smiled a little as Peter looked at her shocked. Thanks to Luciana's mask only covering the top half of her face, Peter could actually see Luciana smiling from underneath the shadow of her hood.

"What? how?"

Luciana laughed a little at him. "Your fake accent sucks."

Peter opened and closed his mouth "Fair." The two continued walking. Their apartments weren't that far away from each other.

"But actually it was your ringtone, it's very unique," Luciana piped up and kicked a small cement pebble down the sidewalk and watched as it smacked into a lamppost before rolling onto the middle of the street.

Peter closed his eyes and slapped his forehead. "I should really turn my phone off when I go on patrol," He spoke, his voice partially muffled due to his hands. He dropped his arms beside him and didn't reach for his phone to turn it off. "Where did you get your wings from? They're so cool" He inquired.

Luciana grew to match the red in Peter's suit. "They were modelled after my Mom's wings. Clint and Natasha provided me with the materials and suit," She explained.

Now, Peter knew that Luciana was close with two friends from her parents who she would sometimes visit, but he didn't know what Maria and Fernando's jobs really were as that was classified information. Peter had been fed the lie that everyone else got to hear. Maria and Fernando worked for a company, Fernando as an IT guy and Maria as a high-level office worker. The two had died in a car crash when they were in Paris for a work trip.

Sensing Peter's confusion, Luciana decided to explain a little more without giving away too much classified information. "My parents worked for S.H.I.E.L.D."

"Oh," Peter swallowed. "Cool? Cool." Peter shook his head and Luciana smiled ever so slightly.

"Does May know about you?" Luciana asked.

Peter shook his head. "She would never let me do this," He explained, then as if to add a better reason he spoke again. "Besides, May would worry too much and I can't do that to her." The boy hung his head and inhaled sharply through his nose.

Four years before, when the world changed forever due to three gods from outer space and a wormhole above New York, Benjamin Parker died. Little Luciana, Peter and Ned had been in the city, May and Ben were taking the kids there to do something that Luciana had long forgotten. In the midst of the chaos, the group got separated. May ended up in a building with Ned where Freya Odinsdottir saved them whilst Peter and Luciana ended up with Ben. The man was swept away by a chitauri soldier that flew right before being reunited with May and Ned. NYPD found Ben's body amidst the rubble a few days later.

Peter coughed and cleared his throat. "Does Daniela know about Hummingbird?"

Luciana nodded in reply. "She was against it at first but figured it was best to support me in the end."

Without realising, the two teens had ended up at Luciana's apartment complex. "That's me," Luciana said, looking up at the white building that had been her home for a little less than a decade. "I wanted-"

"Can we-"

The duo laughed as they spoke through one another. "You go," Peter encouraged the girl before him and she muttered a thanks.

"I wanted to ask," Luciana rubbed her forehead. "Well, not ask," She dropped her hand and glanced up at the night sky. "Do you want to work together? I think that'll be safer considering this flying guy..." She trailed off and scrunched her nose at Peter.

The boy cracked a grin. "Ye- yeah. I'd like that."

Luciana nodded to herself. "Okay," A smile pulled on her lips. "Wanna meet tomorrow?"

Peter jerked his head up. "Yes, I can come by around 10?"

"Okay."

The two looked at one another for a beat before Peter took a step backwards. "I'll see you tomorrow." He offered Luciana a small wave, which the girl returned along with a 'bye'. With that, Luciana unfurled her wings and flew up to her window.

Peter watched Hummingbird sneak into her apartment and once she was out of sight, he shot a web and slung to his apartment.

◎ ◉ ◎

Saturday morning was usually spent by Luciana alone, she'd wake up and have her breakfast as she watched whatever she was in the mood for. Daniela always had to work early on Saturday and Graciela used her Saturday mornings to sleep in with her wife. Every two weeks, Graciela and her wife, Sofia, would come over and the four women would have dinner together and play board games.

The current Saturday was a little different however as Luciana was expecting Peter. Luciana had wiggled into some yoga pants that probably belonged to Daniela and an oversized cerulean sweater that clung to one shoulder. She hadn't bothered to pin her hair up in its usual two buns and allowed her natural waves to cascade over her shoulders.

After eating breakfast Luciana changed the string of her bow that had broken in the encounter with the winged arms dealer. The girl pressed her knee against the handgrip to relax the bow after testing the new string. Just as she was doing it, the bell rang. Luciana quickly set her bow behind a curtain, just in case the person at the door wasn't Peter.

Luciana opened the door and found Peter standing on her doorstep with a tightlipped smile on his lips. "Hey," Peter's brown eyes flicked around the colourful apartment he had grown to miss. "May sends her regards."

"Hi, that's sweet. Tell her I said thank you," Luciana said as she stepped aside and allowed Peter to enter the apartment for the first time in nearly two years. "Lemonade?" Peter nodded and Luciana sped to the kitchen where she filled two cups with the sugary liquid before returning to Peter who had taken a seat on the couch. He thanked her as she handed him the glass.

"Why did you start doing this?" Peter asked, tearing his eyes away from a picture on Luciana's wall of her quinces that he had sadly missed.

Luciana sipped her drink. "When I was 11, Nat and Clint started training me. I knew I had to put my skills to good use. I started with a black hoodie and just a bow, when the first news report came in, they decided that if I was going to be out there, I should be equipped." Luciana held her shoulders up and stretched her arms out in front of her, hands clasped together. "What about you? How did this happen?"

"A spider bit me last year, on the science excursion. I needed to help people, and now I can." He smiled at Luciana and she mirrored him. "After Berlin, Mr Stark made me a suit so I upgraded from the hoodie."

"So that's the Stark internship," Luciana breathed out in realisation and Peter nodded. Luciana pouted. More than anything she wished that her mentors decided to bring her into the fight, sure they were on opposite sides of the fight at first but Luciana would have figured something out. Granted, the girl probably would have sided with the accords and thus against both her mentors, maybe it had been a good call to leave her out of it.

"About yesterday," Peter started, dragging Luciana out of her thought spiral. "We can't wait for someone to take down this flying guy. You saw the destruction they caused..." Peter stared intently as he spoke. "I can't take him down alone," He added with a whisper.

Luciana couldn't help but smile at Peter and she leaned forward slightly so that she was closer to Peter. "You won't have to, we'll do it together. Like old times."

A relieved sigh came from Peter. "Like old times," He echoed.

The two stared at one another for a moment before Peter's eyes lit up. "I have something cool to show you," He reached into his bag and slapped a device onto his wrist. The smooth metal folded out around Peter's wrist as a thick bracelet, part of it crept up to rest on Peter's pale palm in a circle. "Look." He pressed his ring and middle finger to the disk and a web shot out of the bracelet and attached itself to the wall above the tv.

Luciana's jaw fell open and she surged forward to grab Peter's wrist and inspect the device. "That's so cool, what's the formula of this stuff?" Luciana finished inspecting the web-shooter and turned to the web instead. It was very strong and it wasn't as sticky as she expected. With a grin, Peter handed Luciana his notebook and she muttered a thanks as she looked at the formula. The two teenagers had always been into science, but they had their specialities so to say. Luciana's strengths lay with biology and chemistry whilst Peter was much better at all things technical.

After a few moments of Luciana scribbling in her own notebook, pondering about the web formula, Peter had taken to examine Luciana's wings. "If you add synthetic protein-based adhesive, it should make the web more sticky and durable. Like with gecko feet," Luciana looked up where she had taken a set on the floor. "And if you add just a little bit of polyurethane, the web will retain more moisture and be more durable when it's very hot like in a fire or so," Luciana said, waving her pen around as she spoke.

"You're incredible," Peter breathed out with a smile. "Thanks, Ciana."

Red crept up Luciana's neck. "Don't thank me yet, this is just a thought. But we could try making it Monday at school?" She leaned back on her hands.

Peter nodded. "Sounds good to me, I'll inspect the core during shop class." Peter glanced at the clock on the wall and Luciana followed his gaze.

"Should we go out for a bit?" Luciana asked. "City needs us." When Peter agreed, Luciana retrieved her bow from behind the curtain and returned tension to the weapon as she adjusted the bowstring.

Ten minutes later the duo was suited up and they clambered out of Luciana's bedroom window before taking off together for the first time, but certainly not the last time.
