Romeo and Juliet
Note: So, this is another Earth-X thing. This time, it's Leo and Barry. Instead of Thawne, Barry is the "evil" speedster. Thawne isn't in this story. Also, Barry isn't a commander.
Enjoy!
...
"Oh my God," Barry moaned as Leo lifted his shirt over his head.
He traced a line of kisses down Leo's neck.
Suddenly, the door was opened to reveal Cisco and Caitlin.
...
"Barry... you know you can't be with him, right?"
Barry nodded.
Obviously, as soon as this blew over, he'd be right next to Leo again, but he figured it was probably a bad idea to say that right now.
"Barry... you need to take us seriously, otherwise we'll have to report this to commander Queen." (I love the sound of that. I don't know why).
"I... get it. I do. It just sucks, you know?"
Cisco and Caitlin nodded.
"We really are sorry, Barry."
...
"Hey, Barry," Kara winked.
Barry smiled shyly back.
He had learned to play it shy to hide how much he wasn't into her.
He loved Leo.
He would die before he cheated on him.
...
"Hey, Ollie!" Barry called.
Oliver smiled over at him before going back to his conversation.
Barry thought it was hilarious.
Kara and Oliver were competing for his love, but someone had already won him over.
Leo.
He sighed.
When would he be able to see him again?
...
(2 Months Later)
...
"Leo!"
Leo turned, pain in his expression.
"We can't keep doing this, Barry. I can't keep putting myself and you in danger. We got lucky. If we hadn't... we would both be dead. I can't be the reason you die, Barry."
Barry shook his head stubbornly.
"We can do this. We will do this. I need you, Leo. I can't do this without you."
Leo sighed.
He had prayed it wouldn't come to this.
But in the end, he would rather cause a broken heart than a dead body.
"I was trying to be nice, but obviously I can't do that. I don't love you, Barry. I was trying to get an in with the enemy. Not fall in love."
Barry stared at him.
"Yo-you're lying," he stammered.
Leo shook his head.
"No, I'm not."
Barry stared at him.
"Th-that's not true. It can't be true."
Leo looked Barry in the eye. "It is true."
"This was all fake? You really never loved me?"
Leo nodded.
Barry stared at him before running away.
Leo sighed.
He wished he hadn't been forced to do that.
But there was nothing that could be done now.
...
Barry sat on his bunk.
He had lost everything.
When he had met Leo, he had stopped wanting to fight on his side of the war.
Now he didn't even have Leo.
He didn't have anything.
If Leo truly hadn't cared for him, then it wouldn't matter anymore.
...
"Leo!"
"You don't get to call me that," Leo growled.
"We didn't come here to fight," Oliver called back. "We wanted to give you something."
"Really?" Leo raised an eyebrow.
Supergirl sniffed.
She raised a hand to her eye.
When she realized Leo's eyes were on hers, she looked down.
"You didn't have to break his heart, Leo. This?" he gestured to the piece of paper in his hands. "Is all your fault."
"H-How do you know about that?" Leo asked suspiciously.
"Well, Barry told us. Or, rather, he told you." He gestured to the paper again.
"Here."
He handed Leo the paper.
Dear Leo,
Hey. I hope you missed me.
I doubt it.
Anyway...
When I met you, I felt complete. I felt like my life finally had meaning.
Then you told me it was fake. It wasn't real.
I believe your exact words were, "I don't love you, Barry. I was trying to get an in with the enemy. Not fall in love."
Ouch.
You're probably wondering why this is a letter, and/or why your enemies delivered it.
They loved me too, so when I asked them to deliver this letter to you, they agreed. If they didn't, then you don't even know about this. Ollie, if you're reading this, please punch him for me.
I never had the guts.
As for the other question, I'm dead.
This is a suicide note.
Leo dropped the paper, tears filling his eyes as he fought the fact.
It can't be true. It can't be.
Leo swallowed and picked up the paper again, refusing to meet either of his opponent's eyes.
I wonder if you did care. If so, then I guess this is revenge. See, you were the only good thing in my life, Leo. When I met you, I stopped wanting to fight. I had my bosses pinning after me when I didn't care even remotely about them.
All I had was you.
And then that was gone.
So I left.
Don't follow my lead. Win the war. Have a husband. Maybe kids.
Do what you would have done if I was by your side. Just with another man.
Until I see you again...
Barry.
Len gasped, tears flooding his eyes.
Then Green Arrow (GA) walked over and socked him right in the nose.
So that must be Ollie...
...
Leo would listen to Barry.
He used that experience to learn.
Never break a man's heart if you don't mean it.
...
Leo ended up marrying Ray.
They had a son.
They named him Barry.
And when Barry Allen from Earth-1 came to help them win the war, Leo was fine.
He was happy.
He just hoped that wherever Barry was, that he was happy too.
...
Note: (Wipes tear from her eye).
That was so... I don't even know. Sad? Heartbreaking? Emotional? Well-writen? (I'm just fishing with that one).
I hope you enjoyed this heartbreaking story.
