"Hey!"
Barry turned toward her, a playful smirk in place.
"What's up, Snow?" he winked.
She rolled her eyes playfully and smacked his arm.
"You have a girlfriend," she said.
"Yeah. Speaking of which, do you know where she is?"
Caitlin frowned.
"Actually... I haven't seen her. Sorry."
Barry shrugged.
"That's fine," he winked. "You can keep me company."
Caitlin just waved him off before heading toward her locker.
Suddenly, Patty walked up.
"Hey!" he called. "How was your Spring Break?"
She turned toward him, a small smile on her face.
"Great! How was yours?"
"I missed you so much, it was miserable."
She rolled her eyes fondly.
"That's cute. Almost as cute as you," she smiled.
Barry blushed and looked down.
Only Patty, and sometimes Cisco/Caitlin could get him to blush.
"I'll see you later," she winked as she walked away.
Barry waved after her, a happy smile in place.
...
Barry walked around the hallways, looking for certain people.
Barry was a caring person by heart, so he tried to make sure kids weren't getting bullied. He had been bullied before, and he knew it wasn't fun.
There.
Someone was walking with their head down, shoulders sagged.
That was how he used to walk when he felt worthless.
"Hey! Leonard, right?"
Leonard turned, fear in every part of his expression.
"Uh... yeah. Why?"
"I was wondering if you wanted to hang out sometime?"
"Oh, hell no. I ain't falling for that again," Leonard said.
Barry put on a fake hurt expression. He knew what Leonard meant, and he understood.
If Leonard was under his wing, then he would be fine.
"Oh... I thought... oh."
He looked at his feet.
"Uh... sure. When and where?"
"My place, right now?"
Leonard looked at him.
"Seriously?"
Barry smiled.
"Of course."
...
They hung out and talked for the entire night.
Soon, it was 11 and Leonard (now Len) was still there.
"Wow! Look at the time! You should probably leave soon," Barry said sadly.
Len smiled and waved and headed out the door.
"Same time tomorrow?" Barry called.
Len nodded.
He walked out the door.
...
Barry sighed as he threw the ball at the wall.
He winced every time it made a loud sound.
It sounded like that smack.
The one that changed everything.
...
"Barry! Get down here!"
"Yes, Dad?" Barry asked.
"Your mother didn't treat me right, Barry. She did something she wasn't supposed to. So she needs to suffer."
He pulled out a gun.
"Are you going to hurt her, Daddy?" Barry asked.
Henry smiled.
"Yes. Yes, I am, Slugger."
He smacked her.
It was a loud sound, one that echoed.
"Goodbye, Bitch," Henry smirked before pulling the trigger.
When the cops came 8 minutes later, Barry was still checking for a heartbeat.
...
Apparently, Henry had been hitting Nora. One day, she got fed up with it and called the cops.
Henry heard, and decided to kill her for revenge.
And make their son watch.
Nobody wanted a damaged kid, so they put him in an orphanage.
One day, he got so sick of it and ran away.
No one had wanted a house that someone had been murdered in, so his house had still been empty.
Plus, he still owned it.
Or, he would, when he turned 18.
But no one had to know that.
...
"Hey, Barry?" Len asked the next day as they sat side by side on his bed.
"What's up?" Barry asked.
"I was just wondering... where are you're parents?"
Yikes. The question he had been trying to avoid.
"Uh..."
"You don't have to answer if you don't want to," Len added quickly.
Barry took a deep breath.
"Well... my dad murdered my mom and was arrested."
"So... who lives with you?"
Uh oh.
"Uh... I live alone?"
Len stared at him in shock.
"Don't the neighbors get suspicious?"
"Well, I look old enough, and no one ever comes to this house because of what happened, so I don't have any problems."
Suddenly, Len laughed.
He didn't stop.
Soon, Barry was joining him.
When they finally settled down, it was Len who spoke first.
"Thanks, Bear."
Barry smiled.
"No problem, Lenny."
...
Soon, they were spending at least an hour a day together at Barry's house, and they were almost inseparable in school.
The sad thing is, the bullies noticed.
...
"Hey, Allen. What are you doing with wimp?"
"He's not a wimp," Barry replied immediately.
Uh oh.
"Yeah, he is. So I ask again. What are you doing with the wimp?"
"We're friends," Barry answered.
"You don't get to bring people in on our deal, Allen."
"According to who? You?"
Oliver nodded (he seems like the bully type).
"Yeah, me. Our deal is you don't go to anyone, and I don't hurt you. You don't get to add people to that list."
"Then I guess our deal is off," Barry snarled.
He walked away, but was stopped by a fist to his head.
He caught it just in time.
"Don't start things you can't finish, Queen," Barry said without turning around (that sounds like a movie line).
He walked away, this time without interruption.
...
"How was your day?" Len asked on their daily sit-at-home (Cisco named it).
Cisco and Caitlin had noticed how much time he spent with Len, and they were fine with it.
"We'll give you time with your boyfriend," Cisco had joked.
But that had made him wonder.
He didn't stand up like that for Cisco.
So why did he do it for Len?
...
"How was your day?" Barry asked Len as they lay on Barry's bed.
Len took a deep breath.
"You know I have a sister, right?"
Barry shook his head.
"Lisa Snart," he said.
Barry gasped.
"Your sister is the most popular girl!" Barry gasped.
Len nodded.
"Anyway, like you, I have a backstory."
Barry nodded.
"My dad is a robber. He uses me to help with his robberies."
Barry gasped.
"Yeah. You're probably wondering why I do it."
Barry nodded again.
"My dad, he, uh, likes to hit us," Len explained awkwardly. "He doesn't hit us when I help. And I wouldn't help him, but, uh, he threatens Lisa."
Barry nodded slowly.
He wrapped his arms around Len and pulled him in for a hug.
Len didn't know why, but that's when the dam broke.
He sobbed into Barry's shoulder, tears completely soaking Barry's shirt, but neither cared.
At that moment, they knew they would always be there to take care of each other.
...
When Len managed to calm down, Barry spoke.
"You need to tell the cops."
Len shook his head.
"I can't, Barry. It's not just about being some wimp. He'll just get away, and then he'll hurt Lisa and me even more. If he doesn't get away, I could be considered an accomplice. I could get arrested, Barry. That can't happen."
Barry nodded slowly.
"If you don't do this, I'm gonna go to the cops," Barry said slowly.
"No! If you do, you won't win. I won't help you."
"I never said with your case," Barry said. "I've been a missing person for years. If I just happened to walk into a precinct holding a picture of myself..."
Len shook his head.
"Barry, please...," he begged.
"Then you go. One of us is going to the cops, Len. I would prefer it to be you, but I will go if I have to."
Len stared at Barry, tears filling his eyes again.
Barry almost caved.
But he couldn't. This could save Len.
So he stood his ground and stared Len in the eye.
"I-I can't, Barry. Please. Don't do this."
Barry sighed.
At that moment, he knew what he would have to do.
"Len, last chance."
Len shook his head.
Barry sighed.
Barry nodded slowly and grabbed a poster that was on his bed.
He stared at it for a moment before pocketing it.
He searched his room, looking for anything he would need or want.
He grabbed a picture of is mother, Nora.
That was it.
He didn't have anything or anyone.
"Goodbye, Len."
He hoped Len would run out and follow him, stop him, but he knew how strong a motivator fear could be.
He walked toward the door, casting one last glance over his shoulder.
"Barry! Don't do this. Please," Len begged.
Barry smiled sadly.
"I'm sorry, Len. I'll miss you."
Then he opened the door and walked out.
...
Barry knew exactly where the CCPD was.
He stared at the ground as he walked.
He heard footsteps behind his.
Even he knew they were Len's.
Probably hoping he would back out last minute.
Nope.
He didn't have anything except Caitlin, Cisco, and Len.
And he was not going to let this continue.
Even if he went to jail.
...
Len stared at Barry as he walked.
Was Barry really going to do this?
Barry couldn't!
He could go to jail!
He couldn't let Barry do this, no matter how scared he was.
...
"Barry! I'll do it! I will! Just don't do this!"
Barry turned.
"Barry!" Len ran toward him and buried his head in Barry's neck.
"I'm sorry," Barry whispered.
Len nodded.
"I needed this," Len said as he lifted his head to look Barry in the eye.
"I understand why you did it. Thank you, Barry."
Barry nodded.
"I'll always be here for you, Lenny."
Len cracked a smile.
"Yeah. I will never let you leave me. I'll hold you close forever."
Barry pulled him even tighter against his body.
...
"Hi. My name is Leonard Snart, and my father is an abusive bastard."
...
(A Few Months Later)
...
"We did it! We put Lewis behind bars!" Barry said.
Len smiled and looked down at the ground.
"Thank you, Barry. Really."
Barry just hugged him.
Len sighed contently.
He just had to do one more thing...
He turned his head and pressed his lips to Barry's.
Barry's eyes fell open (when had they closed?) and stared at him.
Len pulled his head back, worried that Barry didn't feel the same.
Then Barry smiled.
He pulled Len so that he was flat against his chest and kissed him.
...
Secretly, Cisco hadn't been kidding when he said boyfriend. He thought they were dating.
Now they were.
...
Note: That was...
Amazing.
I loved it.
And I wrote it, but who cares?
I hope you enjoyed!
