[7] His Other Side
Holy shit 7 updates today I should probably stop.
Finral POV (2 month timeskip)
"(yyyyyyy/nnnnnnn)!!!!!!" I shouted as I attacked the (h/c) mage with a hug.
"Hi, Fin!!" (y/n) greeted me enthusiastically. I noticed that Langris had a jealous expression as I hugged my friend.
I snickered and stuck my tongue out at him.
Bad. Move.
He rolled his eyes and the usual scorn on his face formed itself once more. I've noticed that ever since (y/n) graced our lives with her AWESOME magic, he's become happier.
"So, how's life treating you?" She asked as we sat down at the tavern's table.
I shrugged. "Asta got yelled at again for disturbing Yami's 'Golden Time'."
She raised an eyebrow. "Huh? What is this 'Golden Time'?"
Vanessa gave her a grin. "Well, to put it in simple words, it's the time where no one can bother him. Otherwise, you'll be punished severely."
A look flashed between Langris and (y/n). My younger brother gave her a smirk and she looked away, blushing very deeply.
I wonder what happened there?
"Baka! Give me back my wand!!" Noelle screamed at Asta.
"No! I want to see how it works!" Asta retorted, trying to make it work.
The rest of us just helplessly watched as Noelle slapped him and retrieved her wand.
...
"I really want to take you somewhere, (y/n)!!" I said happily as we walked out of the tavern.
Langris's gaze darkened. "Failure, she's mine."
"Jeez, as a friend, Langris! Friend!! F. R. I. E. N. D.!!"
(y/n) nodded. "It's just for a bit,"
He gave her a longing sigh. "Fine, but if you're not back by Midnight, I'm coming for you. I have no idea what my flirt failure brother has up his pathetic sleeves."
The (h/c) mage sighed. "You know, being nice to your brother isn't a bad thing,"
"He's not my brother," Langris said before turning away.
Reader POV
"Thanks, but he won't change," Finral said quietly.
I shook my head. "Well, I'm trying. It's not right that Langris treats you horribly! You're my first friend, Fin! I can call you Fin, right?"
He nodded. "You can call me anything! Now!" He produced a portal. "Shall we?"
We stepped into the portal and stepped out to see a beautiful cove.
"Whoa!" My eyes grew large. A trio of pheonixs were flying in the air as the sun started to dip beneath the horizon. "This place is beautiful!"
Finral nodded. "I like to come here when I want to think,"
"Finral and thinking?! In the same sentence?!"
The brown haired mange pouted. "How mean!!!! Anyway, I wanted to tell you something about Langris." He patted the place on the log next to him. I sat next to him.
Finral POV
My mind was whirling.
What should I tell her? I so badly wanted to tell her everything so she knows who she was falling for, but at the same time, I didn't want to since I was so happy my little brother was actually happy.
"(y/n), I have to tell you something. What I am about to tell you is all true. I don't want you to hate Langris, though. People change,"
"I won't, but please tell me."
So I started.
"When Langris and I were younger, he was always favored over me. Always. My magic has always been weak and he's always been strong. Our parents, well to be honest, we only shared a father. Our mothers are different."
"Anyway, they would make fun of me and call me a failure and constantly praise Langris. One day, I overheard Langris talking to his 'fiance'. It was obvious that he didn't seem keen on the idea of marrying her, but I knew that he had no choice. When I talked to her, I spotted him behind the pillars. From that day forward, he mercilessly taunted me along with our family.
"It got so bad to the point where I had to run away from home," I hesitated. "Langris wasn't the same person he is now. Before my parents started verbally abusing me, I remember my little brother being kind and loving to me. We used to sneak out to the attic and gaze at the constellations, kind of like what you do now. I..."
Reader POV
Finral's voice started to fail. "We used to sneak out to the attic and gaze at the constellations, kind of like what you do now. I..." His eyes misted. "I..."
I pulled him into a hug. "Sh..."
"I MISS MY LITTLE BROTHER!!" Finral cried into my chest. "I miss him so much! I miss us playing in the dirt and making dirt castles! I miss us stealing desserts in the kitchens!"
My heart was breaking for Finral. I had no idea how bad his childhood was. I couldn't believe that his very own brother was so cruel! "Finral...I'm so sorry. I had no idea-"
"It's fine, (y/n)..." Finral wiped his tears. "Thanks for listening to me."
I placed my hand on his, causing his poor face to flare up. "Listen to me, Finral. You are not weak, you aren't a failure."
"But-"
"No buts. You should stand up proud and stare them down like the baddie you are. You're an amazing person. Take me for example: I don't care what they say about me, I'm just a peasant with no family."
"But you have powerful magic!"
"Finral, so do you! I heard about your bravery facing the Eye of the Midnight Sun! Using thread, portals, and anti-magic! To defeat Ladros! How awesome is that?! Finral, you're much stronger than you think. You need to have confidence. Don't listen to the haters!"
Finral relaxed. "Thanks, (y/n)..." He pulled me in for a hug and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek. "Thanks for listening to me."
"You're welcome." We went back through the portal. Well, I went my own separate way since Finral's never been inside my room in the Golden Dawn's HQ.
I saw Langris on my bed. He had no shirt on (curse my eyes now), just baggy pants. And! Reading my diary!!
I stomped over and snatched it away, blushing madly. "Hey! What the hell, Langris?!"
"Hey, I was bored waiting for you to return!" He stood up and smirked. "You had some interesting stuff in your drawers."
"Why were you snooping around?!!" I practically shouted.
"You snoop around my drawers to look for a shirt!"
"That's different! I don't purposefully go searching for embarrassing things, Langris! That's not acceptable!"
He frowned. "Fine, sorry."
"No, you're not!! This is the second time this has happened in the past week!!" I said as I bumped pass him to make my way to the loo (bathroom), still clutching my diary.
He sighed. "Sorry! Jeez, I'm sorry!" He sat on the bed and I glared at him through the mirror as I brushed my teeth. "Look, I-"
The door knocked.
"Come in!"
Vangeance came in. "Oh! Langris, put a shirt on!"
"Sorry, Captain," Langris picked up a plain shirt of his and put it on. "What can we do for you?"
Vangeance stood outside the bathroom and crossed his arms and leaned on the doorframe, looking at me through his mask. "(y/n), I have a question for you."
"Hm?" I spat out the remaining toothpaste and proceeded to wipe my mouth.
"Alone."
Langris huffed and used spacial magic to go to his room. "I'll be in my room if you need me,"
Vegance came over and placed a hand on my shoulder in a fatherly way. "Has my vice-captain ever pressured you to do anything? I am hearing lots of rumors that he is forcing you to sleep with him."
I nearly gagged. "No!! He just likes to come in and sleep at the foot of my bed for some reason."
"And you are okay with this?"
Was I? I shrugged. "I guess,"
He nodded. "Well, if he ever tries anything, come to me."
"Will do."
The captain took a look around and gave Aishubado a friendly pet before leaving.
I began changing, getting ready for a shower. I stepped into the shower and closed the curtain.
"(y/n)~~"
I screamed. "Langris! Get out of the bathroom! I'm in here, if you haven't noticed!!"
"Oh, I noticed." I saw his shadow outside the curtain. "I have to ask you what Captain asked you."
I used my magic and put on my ice armor outfit. It was waterproof. Then I saw fingers curl around the curtain and yank it open.
He frowned. "Shame, I thought you'd be-"
"Pervert!" I threw a bar of soap at him and it hit him in the face.
"OUCH!"
I glared at him. "Serves you right!! Now get out!"
"Why? Aren't we getting ready for bed?"
"I am, but I don't want to speak with you right now!" Especially after what Finral told me!
He smiled sweetly and kissed my forehead. "Very well. Sweet dreams, (y/n)." He exited the room, but only after petting Aishubado.
I let out a sigh. "That's it, no more teleporting to my room." I placed a large spell on the entirety of my room so he couldn't use his spacial magic to pop in in the middle of the night and sleep next to me.
I couldn't deal with him right now.
"Damn it, Finral. I'm trying my best not to hate him right now, but after what you've told me? I think I can strongly dislike him now."
A part of me still loved him, but the past few weeks have been rough.
I was still seeing the faces of elves and the first Wizard King, as well as my childhood in the Diamond Kingdom.
"Fuck this, I need sleep."
William Vangeance POV
I found myself in that dreamspace where I could talk with the other person inhabiting my body.
"I need you to protect my sister," Patri told me. "She's everything to me."
"Yes, I know. But from what I overheard the other day, she's getting the memories of her elf counterpart."
Patri shook his head. "Of course she would. I'm bringing them all back."
"But why?" I asked him, sitting next to him underneath the tree surrounded by water.
Patri looked down at an old locket that had a picture of him and his sister. "Because it's time we come back. Listen, you're a noble man, William. But the day I had to watch my friends and family be slaughtered was the last day I would ever let those I care for be harmed. Even if it means that I have to-"
And just like that, the dreamspace was altered and I was awake yet again.
I sighed in frustration and got dressed, seeing it was 4 am.
I knew that Langris had a crush on the newbie of the squad, but I couldn't let him find out about her past.
I wanted her to be the one to tell him.
I contacted Yami Sukehiro and asked him if (y/n) could join them when Vanessa would go the Witches' Forest as Patri informed me that she would face her past there.
"Sure, but wouldn't that be odd? Shouldn't Langris join her since they're a team?"
"Nah, I'll tell him to do something else. Thank you, Yami."
"Yeah, sure, mask weirdo."
I made my way back to my office back at my base and passed a mirror, seeing Patri staring back at me for a moment before the illusion was shattered.
"Captain!" Yuno called me.
He and his team had returned from their mission and I needed to hear their report.
Patri and I shared a common thought about the young wind mage.
Protect any and all of the people with the souls of elves.
