[34] Show Yourself

Reader POV

Fallon was now 5, myself 25, and Langris 29.

"Mommy!" Fallon was running towards me, using his ice magic to propell himself forward. "Look!"

"Just be careful," I said as his father chased him around, smiling like an idiot. "And Langris! Make sure he's safe."

"Yes, dear."

I watched them play for a bit, looking back down at my papers on international affairs on the table beside my bed.

My relationship with Yuno didn't get any better.

He had been increasingly hostile on our border to the point where I felt he wouldn't be happy to attend the christening of my newborn daughter Princess Yuki Eira Korenthan-Vaude.

So I didn't invite him as there was no need to make bad energy at such an important day.

Her older brother Crown Prince Fallon Astro Korenthan-Vaude was very protective over his sister to the point where he wouldn't let any male hold her unless it was himself.

Needless to say, Langris had issues trying to get Yuki to acknowledge him as her father as she hardly ever saw him unless I stepped in.

Said daughter was sleeping in my arms right now, tufts of strawberry blonde (that appeared brown in certain lighting) hair on her head.

"Mommy!" Fallon was about to grab my arm when Langris shook his head.

"Not now, Fall. Let's let Mommy and Yuki rest, okay?"

"But-"

"Now, Fallon."

I gave Langris a grateful look as we both knew Fallon wouldn't let up until I allowed him to sleep next to me, but not today.

I was too tired to deal with one child, let alone another.

The door closed behind the two and I placed Yuki down, wary she was able to go from being a sleeping angel to a crying devil in a moment's notice.

Yuki thankfully slept in her crib, clutching her pale purple blanket tightly.

I kissed her forehead, getting into my own bed once more.

As I fell asleep, I couldn't help but feel a presence that I hadn't felt since the night my grimoire was blessed by the gods.

Hours later, I got my answer.

I woke up, feeling Langris's magic.

"What the hell are you doing!? Put my daughter down this instant!" He was about to attack someone.

But when I saw their face, my blood froze and I got out of bed slowly as I was pregnant once more.

"Mother?"

"That can't be her," Langris spat. "Your mother may look like that, but no way would she be alive and looking like the photo taken over fourty years ago!"

I walked towards the woman, knowing her aura as my mother's. "Langris, please be quiet. I'll know if she's my mother or a shadow spirit that has gone on a rampage."

"(y/n), it is I," she said, a soft smile on her face.

"Red," I said as I started the phrase we always said to each other when she tucked me into bed long before the castle was attacked and I was forced into the experiments.

She smiled wider. "A red river, told as Anatolia Story. A girl from a foreign land and time falls in love with the prince. Often called Yuri Ishtar, she stood by side of Kail Mursaili II of the Hitties."

I rushed over to her, her putting Yuki down so I could hug her. "It's really you!"

The door burst open to reveal Winston, his magic ready.

"Anika?!" His jaw dropped. "No..."

"It is I," Mother smiled. "Hello, Windstorm."

"It's Winston." He shook his head. "Still getting my name wrong, eh?"

"Always, dear brother."

"How are you alive?" I asked her with confusion as I gave Langris a side glare to calm down as he didn't trust her. "I saw you get slain with my own eyes."

"True I was slain, but in human form. Let me explain something to you, dearest (y/n)." She said. "Listen closely because I will not repeat myself."

"Long ago, I arrived on this earth. I aged as a normal human would, but I still retained all my magic as the goddess of eternal valor. I was sent to this earth as a mission to find my soulmate. Your father. He was a prince of the Diamond kingdom, House Korenthan."

"But in this world, I purposely placed myself in General Winston's home as the family took me in, not knowing I was a goddess. I served under the Song family and became best friends with the Duchess. I was testing to see if your father was worthy of the greatest blessing of humankind aside from the elves. To see if humanity should be given a second chance."

"So I married him after he proved himself, giving birth to you two years later. You truly were the gift to humanity, dear (y/n). That is why you are able to use House Korenthan's winter magic as well as my family's god magic. Now I would've loved to have more children with your father, but alas that didn't happen. I was with you the entire time. Remember that diamond necklace I told you to keep with you?"

My hands touched the (color) diamond necklace, nodding.

"I put a part of my soul in that," she explained. "So I could be with you always."

"Oh? Thank you."

"Yes. And now, I have been given a chance to come back and help you fight the demons of the underworld." She closed her eyes. "The days Fallon went missing were no coincidence. The King of Gods is my father and his other brother Hades refused to yield the fact that I gave the gift to humanity and not his daughter."

"So you're saying my grandfather is the King of Gods himself?! And his two brothers are my uncles???"

"That is exactly what I am saying, dear. There is a rift in the immortal realm. Some are unhappy with your choice to wed Langris Vaude as you should technically be with Yuno Grinberryall, but the threads of fate say otherwise. Not everyone believes in fate."

"Hm..." I thought. "But why do they care? I'm sure there are other worlds out there-"

"There are, but you..." she pointed to me, a stern glare on her fair face. "You are the first ruler in this new age. Your ancestors long after you die will succeed the power you hold and they will be the brightest beams of light, paving the way for all races in this world."

I was about to speak when Fallon stomped on his father's foot so hard he let him go.

"Ow! Fallon Astro Korenthan-Vaude! Apologize right now."

Fallon stormed over, glaring up at his grandmother. "Hey, lady! Who do you think you are?! You aren't my grandma! You're some old hag-"

"It seems he's got your spunk," Mother teased me. "But child, I am your grandmother. Never call anyone an old hag."

"But-"

"Fallon," I said sternly. "Apologize to your grandmother and father."

Mother accepted his apologies, Langris muttering his annoyances.

"He already manifests great mana, as does this child," Mother tucked Yuki in more. "And so will the child in your belly right now."

She pointed to me, a flash of light appearing in the palm of her other hand. "You, my dear, will begin a new age of peace and revolution that the world hasn't seen ever before."

"Wait! You say revolutions?" Fallon looked really excited. "Both Mommy and Daddy speak of the industrial revolution that came about in the war two years before I was born!"

"Wow...has it really been over seven years?" Langris shuddered. "It literally feels like yester I met you."

"Ew! Don't kiss Mommy!" Fallon made a disgusted face and prevented his father from doing so.

"Hush, Fallon." Langris leaned over our son's head and stole a kiss from my lips.

Mother watched with amusement. "As I was saying, you two are the sole roots of change. It's a beautiful love story, is it not? I suppose I can talk about the mission later. I want to know about your love story since I was busy in the immortal realm with other things."

Fallon took the initive to drag his uncle out, the two leaving us in peace with a sleeping Yuki.

Mother took a seat on a chair, Langris and I doing the same.

"Well, it all started when I was 16," I explained. "And he was 20. We met at a magic knights exam and he just so happened to be the vice captain of the squad I was selected into."

"Actually, she got into all the squads. It was a matter of her choice. And of course she saw me, so that's why she chose the Golden Dawn," Langris said with a cocky smirk.

I raised my eyebrow at him. "Eh? I believe that to be somewhat true. Anyways, we didn't actually start to become friendly until much later. If I'm being really honest."

"Hm, now that's not exactly the truth," Langris frowned. "See, your daughter and I would get together at night and stargaze. It's actually what brought us together."

"Ah, I remember my good friend Astraios telling me you would gaze at his designs of the stars at night." Mother hummed.

"Yeah...we really did come a long way," Langris said in a softer tone as he placed a hand on my baby bump. "Damn. If you told me seven years ago I'd be wed to a queen and father to two beautiful children with another on the way, I would've looked at you like you were crazy."

"I am crazy," I said with a cheeky smirk. "But you just don't think I am."

"So cute!" Mother shook her head with amusement. "Langris Vaude, I am very pleased to know that you and my daughter love each other. Granted, true love is something that is very rare. A less than 1% chance of it existing purely, yet here we go."

"Yes..." I got up and picked up a piece of paper, handing it to them. "And that's not the only surprise I have."

Mother's jaw dropped. "I had a feeling it was that, unless it would've been an ultra-power one!"

Langris snatched the piece of paper and his eyes widened. "What?!"

"Yep," I patted my stomach. "That explains why I'm so big, yes? I'm pregnant with twins."

He stood up and leaned down, putting his head on my bump, a very pleased smile on his face. "That's wonderful news! It seems our family is only getting bigger."

"Mmhm." Mother nodded. "I have business to attend to, so I will be around for a while. Good night, my dear."

She kissed my forehead and patted Langris's head, leaving the room.

"Please never touch my hair," Langris grumbled with disatisfaction.

"Oh please," I chuckled. "You don't mind me touching your hair."

"That's because you only do so when I'm fucking your brains out," he smirked as he stood up.

"Hush! I will not expose Yuki to those words." I stuck my tongue at him.

Langris just shrugged. "Yeah, whatever. Now...who shall we invite to the baby shower, given it's in less than a month?"

"I don't know," I said. "I just know that whoever comes should be very well off."

"I see." He thought for a moment. "So I am assuming House Grinberryall will not be attending?"

I shrugged. "He reacted badly when we didn't invite him for Yuki;s christening. It would be foolish to not invite them."

He nodded in agreement. "Vale. It would be bad if we didn't invite him for this, though that's just my advice."

"Agreed." I sat up slowly. "I've a meeting with parliment tomorrow, so I'll go seek their thoughts as well. Oh, and I got a letter from Tota. It's addressed to you."

Langris's eyes widened with a hidden emotion and he took the letter. "I had hoped it wasn't true."

"Hm?"

He opened the letter and it fell to the ground. "I knew it."

"Dear, what's going on?"

He sat down and picked up the letter, holding my hands in his. "You know I love you more than anything and will never leave you?"

"Yes?"

He took a deep breath. "Before you arrived at the royal capital, I had a...fling with someone. Now, I didn't even like this person. I was using her for my own selfish needs."

"Oh?"

"I'm going to be very honest with you since there's no point in lying," he said. "I've a son. An illegitimate child."

"Langris, how old was that? Were you 19? 18?"

"I was 19," he said with his head hung with shame. "Since I discovered she was only using me for her own selfish needs and I never really did like her to begin with, we just broke it off and I never spoke to her again. You might remember her. She was at your ceremony when the wizard king at the time promoted you the Lemiel Cross."

"That's describing many people," I said.

He shook his head in dismay. "Had I known she was pregnant, I would've..."

"Would you go to her?" I asked him quietly.

"Of course not! I harbor no feelings towards her, but I must take responsibility as a father to that son as well. Though I wonder why she reaches out to me now..."

I shrugged. "I'm sure she must have her reasons. But I will allow her to come here. Any son of yours, legitimate or illegitimate, is family to me."

"But-"

"I said what I said, Langris. I'm proud of you, you know. You're taking responsibility."

"You're not mad?" He looked shocked.

I chuckled. "I'm a bit shocked, but how could I be mad? You met her before I even came to the kingdom. And you aren't pretending your other child doesn't exist."

Then my aura got dark and I squeezed his hands with a smile. "But should you have another illegitimate child younger than eight, I will be quite pissed. After all, I've known you for eightish years."

"Understood." He leaned over and kissed my forehead. "Though you don't have to worry about that. As I stated earlier, you're the only one for me. Whether you like it or not."

"Hmmm." I watched him go through a portal.

I stood and walked out to the balcony, spotting my mother in her own version of valkyrie armor as she chased Fallon around the courtyard below, Fallon using ice creation magic to create fortresses to defend himself.

"So it seems there's more family," I muttered with a smile.
