[29] The Vaude Brothers

🚨SEMI Intense Chapter Ahead🚨

Reader POV

I woke up slowly, feeling Langris's chest against mine.

"Mmm..." I felt his hand massaging my back from the pain. "Thank you, Langris."

"So...how are you feeling?"

I didn't open my eyes, content with the cool October breeze. "I'm fine. As for my legs, I'm afraid I do need that wheelchair."

"Ah, I see." He held me dear to him. "Is this real?"

"Of course. We're married at last. And it seems in marrying me, your family status has gone up."

"That isn't important. Oh, that reminds me. Yesterday you took my last name."

"Yeah. But on legal documents. People will still address me as Korenthan. And if you did succeed in getting me pregnant last night, then our child or children will take my last name. As they would have the royal blood of my family, they'll be Korenthan-Vaude."

"That's confusing but whatever." He sat up, the blanket sliding down.

My gaze drifted down and noticed my head was right near that area.

I sat up, feeling pain. "Dear, please put on some boxers."

"Why? Are you afraid I'll fuck you again?" He smirked. "This is, after all, our honeymoon."

I glared at him. "Shut up, Vaude."

"No thank you, Vaude."

He did as he was told, sliding back into bed and handing me a pair of underwear and a shirt. "Damn...I can see my marks on your neck are still there."

"Of course! You literally sucked on my neck and collarbone like a starved vampire, dear."

"Want me to do it again?"

I pushed his face away, looking away as I put on the two articles of clothing. "Stop being so needy."

"Horny? You can say it, we're married."

"How vulgar. I'm fine with saying needy."

I stood up, or tried to. "Thank goodness we don't have anything major to do until next week."

"Mmhm. Oh, that reminds me." He opened a small portal and gave me a blue magnolia. "Happy anniversary. It's funny how today is technically our second anniversary and the day after our wedding."

"Aw, thank you. You do have a heart!"

The strawberry blonde rolled his eyes with amusement. "Only for you..." he leaned down and kissed my stomach. "And our child if they so happened to be conceived last night."

I patted his fluffy locks. "I suppose...though what's the rush to have a kid? I just want to enjoy you and I before life gets to us again."

"Hey! If I recall correctly and I do, you were the one who really wanted a kid," he stood up, scooping me into his arms and bringing me to the bathroom.

"You didn't disagree," I countered as he started a bath, pouring soap into the tub as the warm water entered the huge tub.

"Mmhm." He gently placed me into the tub, grabbing some towels and putting them nearby.

I looked down at my wedding ring with a fond smile."How lovely."

"Hey, (n/n)?"

I turned my head and felt his arm wrap around me, him resting his head on mine.

"Thank you. If it weren't for you, I'd probably still be that nasty guy no one liked back in the squad."

"Oh?" I allowed him to wash my back, closing my eyes. "What makes you say that?"

He stopped his movements briefly. "I was always rude. I'm not going to deny it. And since I was who I was, I lost friends. Close friends. Which is why I was always sarcastic and mean."

"May I see your memories?" I said, knowing it was hard for him to talk about things.

He nodded. "You may."

I turned around and placed my hand on his head, pressing my forehead to him. "Winter Magic: Mirage."

Mirage

I was floating through a star field and I saw a portal appear.

"Hmm...?" I swam towards it, seeing two boys.

It was Finral and Langris, but both couldn't have been older than five and four.

"My little Langris is far better than you will ever be," Lady Liliane Vaude was saying as she ran fingers through her son's hair.

Langris was smirking at Finral who looked away, gripping his wrists so tightly until it bled.

"Haha..." he managed to laugh and smile, but I could tell he was ashamed.

"Boy, you've got to learn these things," Lord Ledior snapped at Finral who was struggling to learn basic multiplication. "Your brother is a year younger and he's already learning the basics of pre-algebra. Step it up, you failure."

I was very quiet as I watched Finral get beat by his father, hands flying to my mouth as tears welled in my eyes.

How could they be so mean?!

The mirage ended and brought me to another place.

This time, Finral was probably 10 and Langris 9.

"You shouldn't spend all your time studying," he said. "Come on, let's go have some fun. I know a great place in town."

Langris was about to refuse but decided to just go.

I saw the image of them sleeping together in his room one night the Vaude parents were away, Finral draping a protective arm around the younger.

But then as they got older, Finral ran away from Tota, not wanting to deal with the abuse anymore.

I must continue to surpass him! I heard Langris's thoughts as a younger teenage version of him studied harder, determined in his eyes.

I can't let Mother and Father treat me like they do that failure!

The day after Finral left, his friends pushed him to the ground, spitting at him.

"You're so boring!"

"We only tolerated you because Finral is our best friend."

"Worthless noble."

He ran home with hurt in his heart that turned into hatred for commoners.

WORTHLESS COMMONERS.

The mirage sped up and Langris was at the Golden Dawn, accepting the position as Vice Captain.

But his teammates all were talking behind his back, saying hurtful things.

"Why'd Captain pick that asshole to become the vice captain?! He's so mean."

"Right?! I'd rather have a peasant as the vice captain instead of that sour midget brat."

I'm not a midget! I heard Langris screech inside his mind.

"I'd rather see him dead than deal another moment with his prickly attitude."

Langris had overheard them and walked past them to his room which I recognized.

He slammed the door and slid down the wall, sitting down.

He looked down at his hand, tears dripping down his face.

I felt my heart lurch at the pain he was going through.

I'll never be good enough.

What should I do?

The mirage sped up to the day I arrived at the capital.

He was frozen still as he saw me talking to his brother.

Who the hell is that?

I saw Langris hide behind a fruit stand, munching on some cherries and giving the stand owner some coins.

Is that another one of Finral's friends?

I moved with the picture, feeling his jealousy.

I watched myself leave the area to head to the arena, Langris storming over to his brother.

"Finral!"

Said man turned around, a stupid smile on his face. "Yeah?"

"Who was that?"

"An angel." Finral walked right past his brother, mesmerized.

Langris looked back in the direction of where I had left. "So you've captured the interests of Finral? Then let me make him suffer."

I'll take another thing from him!

He doesn't deserve anything.

HE ABANDONED ME.

But as the mirage sped up again to the night I was talking to Yuno about the royal houses.

I saw the diary on his desk, Langris's face red.

"I wanted to steal you from Finral, yet I find myself falling for you." He tucked the diary into a voidspace.

He stood up, walking to the library since he knew I loved to spend my days together.

"I promise I won't tell anyone," Yuno said as he bowed before me. "Your Highness."

Langris took a few steps back, disbelief in his eyes

The girl I'm going after, the one I love, is already with Yuno?

He went back to his room, upset.

The mirage sped up to right before the Royal Knights exam.

Finral and Langris were glaring at each other.

"I will be the one to defeat you," Finral said.

"Likely story, brother."

They turned around, Langris looking at his older brother who already had his back turned.

I will be the one to win her heart, I heard Langris swear to himself.

I watched as they faced off, neither wanting to give
up.

He must really love her to act like this, Finral's thoughts came on. Then I surrender.

Langris was taken to the bottom of the Golden Dawn following the exam as he had almost killed his brother, feeling ashamed.

He spoke to the captain, pleading to see me.

I need to at least tell her!

If she truly does reject me for Finral or perhaps Yuno, then I would at least let her know of my feelings.

And then we were all reincarnated into elves as he confessed to me.

The rest was hazy as he was knocked out, but the mirage cleared to him holding me close as we watched our elf counterparts be exorcisted.

He looked happy, truly happy.

But that too was shattered.

If (y/n) was truly in love with that Zenon Zogratis, then I should give her up.

I shook my head in frustration at his thoughts but also understanding.

He never felt he was worthy of me.

But I also heard his thoughts when he saw me training with Yuno.

He hated it, and he was hurting himself over a stupid decision.

The mirage sped up one final time.

"Yuno, come here," Langris said with a serious expression.

It was the day I was talking to parliament, leaving them to spar.

"Huh? Sure, but don't kill me."

Langris ignored his comment. "I need you to promise me something. About (y/n).

"Go on." Yuno moved closer.

"We're at war with the Spades. If anything happens to her, I don't think anything can stop me from destroying everything," Langris confessed as he looked Yuno dead in the eyes. "So I need you to promise me you'll kill me if I turn into a monster."

Yuno nodded once. "I will."

"Good. And if anything happens to me on the battlefield where I won't be able to protect her, I don't care how much it will hurt her. I'll need you to protect her with that annoyingly strong magic of yours."

Yuno looked shocked. "You cannot be serious! You know how much she loves you!"

"Yeah, I know. But because I love her, I'd be willing to give her up if I am unable to protect her. I made her a promise, Grinberryal brat. God forbid I'm unable to protect her, whether crippled beyond saving or even dead, I would let her go. I cannot risk what has happened in the past and pull a reincarnation spell. We both know how that went last time."

"You really do love her, huh?" Yuno's cold expression softened. "Alright, fine. I promise that I will protect her and the kingdom. So help me God."

Langris nodded. "Good. Now, are we sparring or gossiping? Oh, and Fanzell? Not a word of this to her."

End of Mirage

I flinched, the pain entering my head.

"(y/n)!"

"I'm fine, Langris. Just a headache."

He looked worried. "Are you sure?"

"Yes." I hugged him tightly. "I love you, you idiot! I always will."

He accepted the hug, finding comfort in my physical affection. "I love you too. Now do you understand? I will literally tear down this world for you, so don't you dare go anywhere, damn it!"

"I won't. I promise it."

"Good."

We finished cleaning each other only to need another bath as we did certain activities.

Around 10am, he helped me down to the dining hall where we were to have breakfast with his parents, Finral, and of course the other Royals.

"You have no idea how great it is to hear that my little brother is really moving up in the world," Finral said as he slung an arm around Langris. "A prince! How amazing."

"You'll also be a prince when we marry," Finesse said with a blush.

"Ah, of course. But holy crap! I don't know how you did it, Langris. You somehow managed to steal the heart of a queen."

"Hmph! You say it as if you had doubts," Langris frowned.

Finral sweatdropped. "To be honest, I did. But I suppose she really is for you."

"It's like that old saying," Queen Lolopechka said. "He was a complicated poem and she understood every word."

"So, any good luck last night?" Yuno teased. "Am I to be an uncle soon?"

I spit out my tea. "Excuse me?!"

"Yes," Noelle and Mimosa clapped their hands. "Are we to be aunts?"

I crossed my arms and looked away with crimson on my face. "S-shut up!"

"Tsundere~" Winston teased me. "But in all seriousness, make sure you're being careful. I don't like seeing my niece limping everywhere even though we offered a wheelchair."

"A queen doesn't need a wheelchair," I said. "And you all should shush! If I have a child, I'll tell you myself. Now shut it and eat your damn food."

Lady Liliane snickered and I glared at her. "Oh Langris, you really did pick an amusing wife."

My opinion on the Lady of House Vaude didn't get better, but I couldn't complain too much since she was the mother of my husband and the future grandmother of my future family.

Yuno stood up and stretched. "Ah, thank you for the breakfast. I believe I have my own coronation to prepare for, so I shall see you all in my kingdom in a month or so."

I watched him go, squeezing Langris's hand to assure him I wouldn't suddenly go after Yuno.

Snow was falling outside as I walked into the throne room, staring at everything with amazement.

Mother, Father, I'm finally the queen.

I didn't have any huge royal duties this week, but the hell would start tomorrow.

"So, Your Highness," Langris dismissed the guards, a smirk on his face. "How many royals do you think fucked their spouses in this room?"
