Reader POV

I walked next to Langris to the Wizard King's chambers, him moving closer to me in fear that I would collapse again.

"You really should let me push you around in a wheelchair," he said.

"No," I said. "I'm fine, really."

"Right. That's why I was assigned to watch you." He sighed in frustration. "What the hell does the Wizard King event want?"

We were about to find out, that was for goddamn sure.

I took a seat next to the other captains who were confused as to why they were summoned so quickly.

"I thought this meeting was for captains only?" Nozel said as soon as Langris opened the door for us.

Julius nodded and I was shocked to see him in the body of a 12-year-old. "It is. Take a seat, (y/n). Thank you for bringing her, Langris."

"No problem," he said. "But I'm staying."

"Very well. Close the door behind you."

Langris did as he was told and sat down next to me near our captain.

"As you know, Miss Korenthan showed us her magic abilities last night and how she was able to quickly stop her counterpart from basically wiping humanity from existance," he paused and a few nervous laughter came from the captains.

Julius folded his hands on the table, excitement in his eyes. "Well, go on Marx! Tell them!"

Marx nodded and took a step forward. "What Lord Julius is saying is that he wants to offer you a job as a captain, Korenthan."

This made the room go silent.

I looked to my captain and he only smiled back at me, a resting bitch face on him. "Captain?"

"You heard him, (y/n)."

"But why me?"

"You've more than proven yourself."

I shook my head, clenching my right fist.

Langris squeezed my other hand, feeling my worried state. "(y/n)? Are you alright?"

I looked at him briefly before addressing the rest. "I appreciate the offer, Lord Julius. But I'm afraid I have a promise to my people. I am the only surviving heir to House Korenthan. I must decline the offer to become a captain of a squad."

He sighed and shot a look at Langris, a smile on his face. "I thought you'd say that. Which is why I'm offering you a job here. Your kingdom currently is being attacked by the Spade kingdom which is also on the brink of attacking us and the Heart Kingdom."

"WHAT!!?"

"Mars just came back from his journey with Fana and they explained it to us," he said. "As of right now, the Spade Kingdom has killed off two of the now eight Shining Generals. By the kingdom of Spade, I mean a man named Zenon Zongratis of the Dark Triad."

"Following Damnatio's trial of Asta, we've come to a decision tht he can prove his innocence by getting rid of the devils. Princess Lolopechka has offered to join alliances with us to defeat the Dark Triad."

"And seeing that you are going to reclaim your birthright to the Diamond kingdom, I can hopefully assume we can get the support of your people?"

I nodded. "Of course, I would have to go back and confront them. Mars and the others are very helpful to me and I believe I can convince my people to help us form the Tri-Allaince."

"Good." Julius nodded with approval. "I expect each and everyone one of you captains to help in restorations of the kingdom and the outskirts. See to it that no one is left behind."

"Yes, sir!"

Langris and I walked back to the Golden Dawn as I wanted to get a sight on what the elves had done the previous night.

"Are you okay?" He asked me.

I squeezed his hand. "Of course I am. You should probably check up on your family."

"Fine, but you're coming with me."

I looked away. "Your parents are disgusted with me. I'd rather not deal with that-"

"Trust me, they won't." Langris opened a portal and we walked through to see House Vaude in Tota.

"Langris!" Lord Ledior hugged his son, staring at me with shock. "What is she doing here?"

He looked up at his father, determination in his eyes. "You will respect her, Father. She isn't only the future queen of Diamond, but she is also my lover. Respect her as such."

"But she-"

"Mother," Langris said more gently to her. "Please."

His parents stared at me before giving into their son.

"I suppose...but what about Miss Finesse?" Lady Liliane asked with concern.

A portal appeared to reveal Finral as if he and his younger brother planned this.

"I will marry her!"

The two nobles looked at the two boys before looking at each other.

"Maybe this can work," Lord Ledior suggested. "If our Langris marries a queen and Finral marries into the royal family here, it will do amazing things for not only the the family but also to our countries. They'll be united."

Langris POV

"Come here," Father called me into his office since Mother wanted to start off new with my girlfriend. "I have a question for you."

I sat down on the chair in front of his desk. "What is it, Father?"

"I'm sure you didn't just come here to tell me you're breaking off the engagement with Finesse." He folded his hands on the table and eyed me carefully. "You want to ask my permission to marry her, right?"

I looked up at my father and nodded. "I understand it may be difficult, but she won my heart. Of course I would wait until she's at least 18-"

"Wait, just how old is she?"

"16."

He thought for a moment before nodding. "So it's about a four year gap." He sighed and looked down,  rare smile on his face. "Tell me. Why do you love her?"

"I don't understand it myself," I confessed. "But when I'm with her, I feel calm. Like I can do anything with her by my side. But I also feel a raging inferno inside that makes me want to pin her to the wall and kiss her like crazy," I scratched the back of my head with embarrassment.

"Understandable. Son, you love her so much. That much is obvious." He took a deep breath. "But it is not my permission you need to take her hand. It's her family's permission you must gain. Little is known about why the Diamond king is kept alive as a puppet, but I do know from reports that he only says the name of his wife Queen Anika and his daughter. If you can break the curse on him, I believe he will give you his blessing."

"Oh and that elf Patri. He and (y/n) are connected through someone you know. All of your elf counterparts were clearly close and I have a feeling Patri still feels the (y/n) human of this time is still his little sister, as Captain Vangeance probably also feels since he and Patri shared a body at one point."

Father stood up and looked at me sternly.

"I understand your feelings for her, but you must let yourselves get comfortable with the idea that this is far from over."

"What are you saying?" I was very confused.

"I mean don't do any funny business in bed. As much as I trust you two, it's better to know instead of finding out after the fact."

I didn't understand what he meant until I thought about it more.

As my thoughts got more and more dirty, I slapped my face with embarrassment.

"Oh, and Langris?"

"Hm?"

"You want to marry her?" He patted my shoulder. "Then make your intentions clear sooner rather than later. She's got a heart of gold and you only find that once in a lifetime."

I nodded and bowed slightly to my father. "Yes, Father."

I left his office, deep in thought about the situation.

For starters, she was technically my junior despite being awarded the Lemiel Cross and promoted to a First-Class Senior Magic Knight

Second, I was older than her by four years.

And third, we were still in this chaos!

I sighed in frustration as more thoughts came into my mind, only for it all to disappear when I heard her laughing with Finral and my mother.

"So..." I sat down next to her. "What are you people laughing about?"

She exchanged looks with Finral and pretended to seal her lips. "Not telling."

"Fine, I'll coax it out of you later. I've some paperwork to do and I believe you have an appointment in the hospital wing. You're not completely healed and I'm saying this as your boyfriend and vice captain to take a break for once."

"See?" Finral snickered. "He's absolutely smitten."

I guided (y/n) through the portal and glared at Finral. "Brother, you may like her, but she is mine. I will be the one to marry (y/n) Korenthan."

"By all means, do it!" He gave me a thumbs-up.

I followed (y/n) through the portal and she was already talking to the nurses.

"Lord Langris," one said. "She may go on missions, so long as she doesn't overexert her body. And absolutely no adult actions with her until I make sure her body is alright again!"

"Huh?! Ma'am, I'm pretty sure I won't be doing those things with her until the wedding day!"

(y/n) froze up and stared at me with shock but I ignored her for now, staring at the nurse who shook her head in amusement.

"Likely story, young man. All men are horny. And I could say the same about women and the non-binary folk, but you know." She dismissed us, giving (y/n) strict instructions to only use her god magic if she absolutely had to.

(y/n)'s bird flew to greet us on the balcony as we did our tradition of stargazing when we could.

"It's so hard to believe I've been part of the Magic Knights for about 13 months. It feels shorter than that."

I said nothing but held her closer to me. "Yeah. I feel that. Now, let's get you to bed."

"What about your paperwork?"

"I can do that later. You're more important."

She was about to protest when I scooped her up and walked to the doors that separated her room from mine by a thinnish wall.

"Mine or yours?"

"Doesn't matter to me."

I brought her to my room and handed her one of my larger shirts, taking her clothes and throwing them into my dirty laundry pile for someone to clean later.

Aishubado took off flying to the northern mountains where (y/n) had a small home, nuzzling her cheek one last time.

I moved the covers over us, thinking about the future.

This is the woman I want to marry.

But I knew I had to wait until this was all over and she was of age.

I vowed to myself that I would the man she would marry, to have a family with if she allowed it.

I could only hope fate would be so kind to us unlike our elf counterparts.
